Incredibly beautiful setting with excellent food, clean hot showers and basic bunk beds. Wow. There was still snow at other alpine hiking locations in Norway , so folks at the DNT suggested the Rondane. It was early in the season, so not yet crowded. tip: bring some sandals/lightweight shoes. There was local bus service from Otta/train to Mysuseter trail head....

We wanted to make a reservation two months prior to our trip to Rondane NP which was not possible. As we arrived there, there were over 110 people staying there over night. So we had to sleep in the dining room with a lot of other people. That wouldn't have been such a problem but they charged us around 75dollars...

We arrived by air to Oslo and car to Mysuseter car parking. From the parking its 6 k to walk to the hut. Then they serve a 3 course dinner with wine and beer. We stayed in a room for 2 persons with a fanstastic view of the lake and mountains. Breakfast is served from 0800 and you can also...

There are few established walking trails. We parked our car at Mysuseter Fjellstue (which is closed most probably) and walked towards Smuksjøseter. that trail and hike to Rondvassbu Turisthytta took over 4 hours. Was a great hike with nice views. We hiked to Veslesmeden (2015m) from Rondvassbu which required good body strength.

Well maintained and staffed hut with good food and reasonably stocked bar. Rooms were fine although washroom and toilet facilities are a little limited for when the hut is busy. Good drying room and access to mountains.

The Norwegian Turist Union, or Den norske turistforeningen in norwegian, has many cabins and hotels spread throughout Norway, all open to all. They vary in facilities, but have all roughly the same standard. The point is that these cabins provide shelter and a starting-point for rambling and climbing in stunning scenery. It is a marvellous concept, and an opportunity that...

We arrived here at the DNT hut at a rainy day so we could really use some good accommodation. The rooms were very clean and we slept like roses. In the evening we could enjoy some very delicious typical norwegian food while sharing the table with other travellers, mostly norwegians. We had some great conversations. Awesome hut!

DNT runs a number of mountain cabins around Norway which all feature a similar service concept and identical pricing, but there is always variation in e.g. comfort and food. Rondvassbu features a very picturesque lake-side location in the heart of the small Rondane mountain area (the picture that another reviewer has uploaded it showing the wrong cabin!). From the cabin,...
