I had a fantastic stay at Hotel El Bosque. They were extremely accommodating, patient and kind with any questions I had or excursions I wanted to book. As for the stay, the room was very clean and the shower had plentiful hot water (I was coming from a volunteer project on the coast that only had cold water, so it...

Hotel El Bosque was a clean friendly place to stay. It was extremely budget friendly and offered a wonderful breakfast. The clerk at check in offered some wonderful advice on adventures to explore and places to eat.

As a budget conscious photographer who doesn't need luxury or fancy amenities it is good to find a place where you can find wildlife and nature in abundance right in your backyard. at a price you can easily handle. Staff is super helpful and dedicated to providing quality service. Lots of trails, guided walks right on the grounds with enthusiastic...

#6 out of 22? Really?? I'd hate to see #7. #22 must be Dante's inferno. This is a slum hotel. The rooms look circa 1950's right down to the stained bedspreads that looked only older then the tattered towels. There was one small pillow that was so used it was flatter then a Denny's pancake! Probably original since the hotel...

Hi kurtmg1, I am truly sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Our rating in TripAdvisor is based on value-proposition/price. Though we certainly do not have the best rooms... But we do have a great value/price ratio. This results (most of the time) in great reviews which in turn results in good ratings. I am sorry that...

There is a jungle walk within the lodge. You can see aguties in front of your door. The breakfast is just outstanding with fruit, eggs, traditional rice and beans, and pan cakes. The staff is very friendly and supportive. If the weather is bad (rainy and cold) there is not heating in the rooms.

Rooms big enough for families, small patio, semi-clean (spiders), warm water, hairdryer out of function, no nightwalk-tour for free, no english speaking people, reception closed when we arrived, lots of wildlife, good breakfast, coffeeshop and pizza in a walking distance

Hi Jan T, Thanks for your feedback. September is very rainy which drives a bit more bugs to want to come in... For the next September we will be more careful to ensure (as much as we possibly can... Let's remember this is a private forest with lots of wildlife...) spiders stay outside. We are going to test/change hairdryers based...

This hotel is a good value and is located in a nice little spot next to several restaurants and the bat jungle - though far from the main part of town, but the room felt damp and musty and not very clean. It would have been okay, but by the morning, we had hundreds of little ants all over the...

Hi Chopchopchops, Thanks for your feedback. You're correct. We would have loved to help you rectify the situation with the bugs. El Bosque (The Forest) is a very special place, full of wildlife and from time to time, bugs may come in... That's just nature and we have taken many actions (such as a robust fumigation process...) and this issue...

Monteverde is up the mountains in the cloud forest. It is also the name of the province. Santa Elena is the largest town nearby-a $5 cab ride. The hotel is quaint and maintained well. The price is reasonable and breakfast is included. No air conditioning, but it is usually cool up there. This was the rainy season, but there was...

It is out of the way and quiet, just what we were looking for that evening. There are short trails on the property as well as a small park/courtyard. The grounds were nice but we found the towels and sheets dirty but were eventually dealt with. Breakfast was pretty good.
