We stayed here for a few nights in the ‘500’ block of rooms halfway up the hill. As others have said, the hotel is spread over a steep hillside with an on-demand shuttle bus to take you to your block. Our room was at the end of the block and had large windows and balconies

This was such a great place. The views are spectacular. The hotel is basically built into the side of a mountain and the property extends quite a bit. We walked from the very bottom to the very top and it was quite a hike. But our group took a leisurely pace(ages 12-71)and

Set in the mountains, we had a wonderful room, but the 'complex' is so enormous, it is necessary to order a 'transporte' - hotel provided minibus to get from the room to reception, so even dinner had to be planned and organised in advance. The location was beautiful and the

Came to Costa Rica on our honeymoon and this was city 3 of 4. The complex is quite large up a steep hill and instead of calling the shuttle to the front we did walk everytime from building 4 (a bit exhausting!). Room was mediocre, we were on the ground floor so could access the

We have addressed this with the team to ensure we improve on this. We are also sorry you walked through the amenities. Thanks to the location of the rooms our guests can enjoy the beautiful views of the Cloud Forest. That is why we have at your disposal the internal transportation service. My 3 member family stayed at El Establo in mid-December. It's quite an amazing property with several buildings tucked higher & higher into the hillside. I was glad we were in a building just above the reception area which meant we didn't need to use the shuttle to get around.

Thank you for the review, bdeckermsu. We are more than glad you had the opportunity to enjoy the magical views of Monte Verde seen from El Establo, the majestic wildlife of Monteverde and our amenities. We're very sorry about the problems with the room lights. However, it should be noted that the hotel is surrounded by cloud forest, and the reason why the lights are dim is so as not to affect the forest environment. We thank you for your opinion because for us it is of utmost importance the opinion of our customers to implement improvements and always provide the best service. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with other travelers. We look forward to more adventures and the exotic nature of Monteverde. Greetings! El Establo
