We just showed up after being told that they were sold out. Just stayed one night with my adult children. Good food at reasonable price. Note, we stayed in room 3 in a villa. There are must better and more expensive rooms available. I checked one out and it was significantly better.

We stayed for two nights at the Fonda Vela as part of a tour of Costa Rica. Our room was large and comfortable with two large beds a couch and table and chairs. The decor is somewhat uncoordinated. We could sit on the terrace outside our room to watch the sunset in quiet and peaceful surroundings. The restaurant provided good...

Fonda Vela has a great location near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. We had a junior suite with a nice sitting area overlooking the grounds. The pool and restaurant were close by. Although there were other rooms attached, the accommodations seemed private. It's a short cab ride to town if you're interested but we had most of our meals at...

This is a great place--each room is different and beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Everything here is done in rich wood: the floors, ceilings, walls. The owner is a painter so the place is filled with original art work, all for sale. The restaurant here is good-- the best we had in all of Costa Rica (where the food in...

This is quite a nice hotel although a little out of town. Unfortunately our room was in the top block on the bottom at the back; all a bit bit gloomy and nowhere to sit. That said the room itself was well fitted out although with just wooden ceilings/floors it can be a bit noisy. Other blocks had much better...

Lovely, relaxed, good food, charming staff. The food is good, but beware, many (but not all of) the portions are USA size – so order one for 2 and share it. There is a little touch of amateurism here – but it is charming and friendly and not inefficient. We had a lovely room with an great view. Go for...

The trip from La Fortuna to this place was an adventure - first by boat across Lake Arenal (with some animal watching from the boat), then by car for ca. 40km all gravel roads. I do not want to know how these roads look like in the rainy season, but we got quiete a massage in the car. The hotel...

So, this isn't just a hotel/motel with pool. It is a series of buildings built on two sides of a steep hill. The roads between buildings are gravel. Luckily, our luggage was taken by pickup truck to our room since we didn't have a vehicle of our own. There are fans in the room but when it got warm, we...
