Moon Racer Farm is in the Cayo District on the road to Caracol at the junction for San Antonio. Americans Tom and Marge Gallagher operate this off grid B&B with a perfect mix of local and US flavors. Our cabin was clean and comfortable with hot water and private shower and lavatory. Off grid means no electricity in the cabin....

My wife and I had stayed at Moonracer a few years ago. A few weeks ago, I was in Belize alone. I had a reservation at Hidden Valley Inn (great place!) but as I drove, I didn't feel well and pulled in to Moonracer instead. No reservation. Owners Tom and Marge remembered me and made me feel welcome. Tom showed...

I took a group of college students to visit the ruins of Caracol, and we spent the night at Moonracer Farm. Tom and Marge were spectacular hosts. They served us a fantastic meal of lasagna and impossible cake our night there and had plenty of cold Belikin Beer on hand. The next morning we had a great breakfast, and they...

My experience with Moonracer Farm could not have been more exceptional. I’m a biologist and avid birder, and I came across this place as I was searching for a good place to find the bird species that I was interested in. Located in the forested foothills along the Chiquibul Road, Moonracer did not disappoint with regards to birdlife, and it...

Hello Fellow Travelers! If you're looking at Moon Racer, you are looking at the right place to stay! I had the pleasure to stay here for 8 days in August with Marge and Tom. It was such a wonderful experience for the following reasons: 1. Perfect Environment! Marge and Tom built these awesome cabins in the middle of the jungle!...

I recently took a trip to Belize and could not figure out where to stay in the San Ignacio area. San Ignacio is a city in the Cayo District of Belize where you can plan many excursions and adventures with the multiple tour companies there. After much deliberation, I chose Moonracer farm which is in a beautiful jungle setting near...

I found this place on TripAdvisor when looking for some lodges that were remote and more off the beaten path. Communication and arrangement were easy to made and we felt welcome from the first moment we contacted them. A car is needed to get there as it is around 30-40 minutes from San Ignacio and pretty much "deep in the...

After reading all the striking reviews, what else could I say but YES to it all. Somehow I missed the part about no electricity or much light at night. It's dark at night...CAVE DARK! How wonderful to lie in bed and listen to the monkeys, wait for the toucan call, and hear my morning coffee brewing as Janeth gets up...

So glad I picked this place to stay, after checking out several other lodges online and reading TA reviews. I like that this is a small lodge, only allowing for 1-2 parties. This allowed for great interaction with the local Belizean managers, Julio & Janeth and their family. The US expat owners, Marge & Tom, were also very helpful with...

Great hospitality, great food, great setting. Rooms are comfortable and clean. A great jumping off point for many adventures in the area. Julio and Janeth were very helpful and friendly. Tom and Marge gave us some very helpful advice about living in Belize. Highly recommended.

“There is only one cabin with two rooms, separate entrances, but close quarters sharing a thin wall between rooms on the inside. They have wifi when they turn it on; it's slow I guess. We didn't use it much. The location is more what it isn't than what it is: natural, environmentally aware, understated brilliance. Look at the guest photos!”

“It is better to take all the lodge if you are a little group or a large family. Sharing the lodge with another couple coulee more annoying since the walls are very thin. This was the only negative point that i can underline.”
