#3 of 5 hotels in Holetown
Mango Bay Barbados is ideal for those seeking the convenience of an ALL-INCLUSIVE beach vacation combined with the personal and friendly service of a small resort. It enjoys a sought-after beachfront setting in St. James, on the famous west coast of Barbados. There are restaurants, bars, boutiques and cinema just steps away from Mango Bay in lively Holetown, including the brand new, upscale, LIMEGROVE LIFESTYLE CENTRE across the road from the resort. Mango Bay is approximately a 45 minute drive from the airport, and a 25-minute drive south of the hotel takes you to the capital Bridgetown. Mango Bay definitely gives you added value for an all inclusive hotel- included is a complimentary two-hour catamaran cruise to see the turtles, waterskiing & a glass bottom boat ride.

Just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks at Mango Bay. I was a bit worried having read some recent reviews. The rooms are good, and although maybe could do with a little upgrade (The hotels in Barbados have had very little income for 2 years), it was clean and perfect for a beach hotel. Being a fussy eater, I was a little concerned, but the food was really good, plenty of choice. Managed to put on a lb a day! Thanks to Richard, Kendre and Paul, the chefs we did manage to meet. Even with breakfast, lunch and dinner, there are still bar snacks available from 10-4, and then sandwiches, cake and biscuits. The bar had a good variety and cocktails were served as much as beer. They do have a dress code for the restaurant. Men can now wear smart shorts at dinner. Collared shirts must also be worn at dinner. The beach was kept clean, as was the pool area. The hotel provides beach/poolside towels. They had more new towels delivered whilst we were there. The pool is open from 6.00am which is a nice time for an early morning swim. The hotel also provides free water skiing and many other water sports. They also do a catamaran trip, although we did not go on this, people who did enjoyed it. The location of the hotel is great. Right in the centre of Holetown. There is a shopping centre (Cartier, etc) a couple of hundred yards away, and a supermarket close by. There are also quite a few bars, restaurants, clubs outside the hotel Try the One Love bar to meet the locals. What really makes a holiday though is the people, and the people of Barbados are wonderful. The hotel, if you have a problem, will make every effort to sort it. Management would be around to check if everything was ok. They also do something special for birthdays etc. Special mention must go to Onisha, Omar, Andrew, Rayden, and of course Damian. They make you fell special. Also a mention to Shireene for arranging a private beach side dinner for us. In short, if you are looking for an all inclusive hotel in Barbados, when Bajans also stay, this is the place to go. Other things to do, take a trip on the reggae bus, take a catamaran trip for lunch and swimming with turtles, see the waves on the east coast. Personally I would give Oistin's a miss, not all it's cracked up to be. Enjoy.

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon last year, the place is beautiful, the food is lovely, the staff are great, yes we did have one issue, however Shireene sorted this out in no time at all and couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable and special. so much so we are going back in 2 weeks! If you have an issue whilst you are there just let the reception know, they will sort it. See you soon Mango Bay : )

It could have been end of season blues, but we missed out on any formal reception and Hotel orientation on arrival. The Hotel team didnt seem ready for multiple arrivals from the airport. Our room was clean and tidy, and the housekeeping service were very attentive, but I had to carry my luggage to my room after a long wait. The restaurant menus seemed to vary wildly between local food and oriental or european dishes. I had hoped for more nutritionally balanced meal options, and noted some guests didn't even try the local dishes (Perhaps some encouragement or taster sessions) Some of the dishes served or from the buffet were not at the right temperature. Luke warm chicken dishes or breakfast sausages meant guests were putting pressure on the chefs to prepare omelettes or poached eggs. I have a good constitution, but can see why some guests complained. It felt like end of season blues so some of the standards had slipped. Having said that the team serving at the bar and at the Poolside and Beachfront were awesome. Tirelessly keen to please every guest, but I felt they lacked leadership when trying to meet the demands of customers who had shied away from the lunch menu and ramped up the requests for bar food. Need to mention Damian who was life and soul of the party with his artistic flare whilst serving and Rayman who was sure and steadfast in his role. Overall we had a fantastic stay, and are planning a return with more family. It was more about tweaks than complaints, I have shared my thoughts direct with the Hotel as recommendations. I genuinely believe they were just going through a difficult period so some of the standards slipped. I also witnessed some very demanding guests, its hard to please everyone. Entertainment was good, I always appreciate their efforts as an entertainer myself. The beach was well maintained by the sports team also always happy to assist. Great beach, Cozy pool.

Having travelled widely, Mango Bay Hotel is up there amongst the very best. Management and all of the staff were attentive, caring and very friendly. Excellent quality food, variety and service was exceptional. Location is great, within a few metres of the sandy beach. Plenty of sunbeds. Would highly recommend the catamaran company Silver Moon for a 5-hour all-inclusive wonderful experience. (Maximum 12 guests, worth every dollar and more!) Worth looking up and booking early! Hotel and rooms are super clean. Would recommend the Superior Garden/poolside rooms. Management was always around to offer advice and kindness. Special mention for Damien, the drinks waiter.... you would go a long way to find a better dancer whilst serving drinks at the beach and around the pool! A top man. Good music entertainment each evening. Our holiday here surpassed all expectations.

Im a returning guest. Mango Bay is incredibly well managed. The staff are amazing, charming, helpful, cheerful and always helpful. Food is in abundance and wide range, expertly cooked. Great hot buffet breakfast or if you wish continental with freshly cooked omelette or eggs, A La Carte at lunch with lots of choices or buffet lunch/other options. If theres something you'd like which isn't on the menu they will cook it for you. Afternoon high tea with sandwiches, savouries and cakes, dinner menu with choices for everyone. They also offer room service which there may be a charge for. I had room service 3 times no charge. Theres also a beach / pool side menu between 11 and 4 with other foods. Bar is well stocked. The hotel is impeccably clean, housekeeping daily and turn down service each evening. The reception staff will assist with any queries or information about the islands, or tours or anything you need assistance with. Very helpful. The pool is standard, its not a water park. Its enough. 5 ft at the deepest point and a safer shallow end for non swimmers and children. The pool is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The pool man is out cleaning the pool at 4am daily ready for guests. Entertainment every night in the hotel, sundowner party each Saturday. Its also adjacent yo The One Love Bar which has the famous Sunday night street party. Its directly on the beach with a very pretty ocean front restaurant. Free non motorised water-sport and also the hotel has its own catamaran which is free. This is a small hotel, if you want a water park, multiple bars and on site clubs and hoards of otger guests this isnt for you, Mango Bay is a little gem. Highly recommended.

We visited Mango Bay for 9 days with friends and cannot believe people are complaining about it. Upon arrival we were welcomed with rum punch, and our luggage was taken to our rooms whilst we waited for them to be ready. The staff are friendly and helpful (Damian on beach service is great fun), and will go above and beyond your expectations. The restaurant food is very good for an all-inclusive with a variation between a-la carte menus and buffets. The bar is well-stocked with premium drinks, with a wide range of cocktails available. The location is fantastic, with a great beach, and swimming area. The hotel includes watersports (snorkelling, paddleboarding, kayaking, water-skiing) as well as a glass bottom boat tour bi-weekly. Unfortunately the catamaran wasn't available, but we were told in advance. The rooms are fairly basic, but well kept and clean (we did have a minor issue with a door latch, but it was resolved quickly). Every evening there was live musicians, including sometimes at lunch and breakfast. There is a good fun street party every Sunday night on the road behind the hotel, with karaoke which I can definitely recommend. Less so the clubs immediately adjacent to the hotel as these are very much 'locals' bars, and made some of the women in our group uncomfortable (this is of course nothing to do with the hotel). The hotel also has hire cars if you wish to utilize them for a fee. Testament to the quality and professionalism of the staff, on our check-out day we were informed that a member of staff had unfortunately passed away - all staff worked the rest of the day to the height of professionalism. I really can't understand any reason to mark the hotel down. Yes it's not exceptionally cheap, but it's a lovely hotel, with great staff, a good range of entertainment and activities to keep all happy with good food and a well-stocked bar. What more do you need from an all-inclusive hotel?

My wife & I travelled to Barbados for our 35th wedding anniversary and had a great time at Mango Bay and had the pleasure of meeting some great people. Can't remember everybody's names but (hello Allister, Chris & the follow I went snorkeling with staying with his daughter her and teenage boy and girl. Lovely people and families. Hello from your Newcastle fan, from Toronto, Canada ! It was truly are pleasure to meet you all, even though you are are Leeds fan Allister :) First off, the negative reviews for Mango Bay are in our opinion bullocks. Frankly, we are not sure where these people stayed...overall, we had a very good, if not excellent experience at Mango Bay. Let's run things down - Even before we left on the trip: I reached out to Mango Bay to inform them this was a 35th Anniversary vacation. Guess what...they had a bucket of sparkling wine on ice in our room when we arrived with a card celebrating our anniversary ! Very nice touch ! I also asked Mango Bay for a room that did not involve lot of walking and stairs, as my wife has leg issues...guess what, they provided a great room on the ground floor, by the pool close to everything :). Totally appreciated the effort they made on these things by Mango Bay. The Location: Great location. Right on the beach, a number a reefs for snorkeling right there. No traveling, you just have a very short walk to the beach, and the ocean and it is right there. Great experience and value seeing the ocean wildlife without having to travel for it or the extra cost to see the ocean wildlife. Great location if you like snorkeling. Within walking distance to some great shopping (Duty Free, expensive shops Cartier, etc...(if you are in to that and can afford it), grocery for local things you can't get in Canada, and very nice local vendors and shops. The Food: In our opinion, the food portions and food meal selections / options were perfect. Choices for each Lunch & Supper Meal were great. Breakfast was a buffet and had a great selection. There was always food options on the menus that fit what we felt like or wanted to eat. Can't understand any negative reviews about breakfast and any of the meal times. The food was excellent and of quality. We never had any issues with the food selections, and never had any bathroom issues from the food. It truly was quality food. You certainly did not walk away hungry, and as we witnessed, if you had any food issues (allergies and such) they were very accommodating. Room: As stated earlier, perfect room location for us. Very happy. Maids were excellent and were very attentive in keeping it clean for us. Was or room a bit dated and simple ? Yes, but it was all we needed. On a vacation like this, how much time are you really spending in your room. It was clean, functional and had reliable air conditioning. That is good for us :). Some people's reviews are out in left field. If you wanted a 5 star experience room, you should have spent the fortune to get it in Barbados. The Staff: In our option, the staff were all great. Front desk / Reception were very professional and great at what they do.

We have visited Mango Bay for the last week and I’m quite shocked at some of the reviews I’ve read. There are certain parts I maybe agree with- when they have massive groups in for dinner, service can be a little slow and we have had our drinks order forgotten HOWEVER, the staff work tirelessly each and everyday. When we reminded them about our drinks, they sorted it immediately, no issue at all. Yes, the appetisers are small, but when you follow it with soup, mains and a dessert, I’d say you’ve eaten more than enough! We have never ever left dinner feeling hungry. The bar staff are amazing and will make any drinks you ask them for. The beach is incredible, as are all the lovely people working on it. The snorkelling is amazing- we didn’t borrow snorkels but took our own so can’t comment on the hotel providing them. We have used the paddle boards and kayaks from the hotel with no problems at all. I agree, the pool is small….but we haven’t used it in the whole time we have stayed as the beach is sooo incredible, in fact every time we have walked passed it at least half of the sunbeds around it are free because most people are at the beach, so therefore I don’t think it matters that it is small- it clearly caters for what they need. If you are looking for an authentic, friendly stay in Barbados, we would 100% recommend the mango bay hotel. We would return. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so lovely!

I’m sat here now. Poolside. I’ve just read some of the recent reviews and I’m flabbergasted. I genuinely think I must be in a different place. Let me address some of the concerns you might have having read some of the same recent reviews: Staff are so polite, attentive and friendly. Never once have I heard a tut. Never once have I been met by anything other than a smile. This morning there were no grapefruits (they don’t always serve everything everyday, and I guess today was grapefruit’s day off), but I’ve been getting on very well with the grapefruit and so I asked. Guess what? Without issue and with a genuine smile, they fetched me some. I can sympathise with reviews that portion sizes are small, the appetisers are small - but isn’t that what an appetiser is? Main courses are normal sized and arguably some of the most consistently excellent food I’ve ever had in foreign hotels. But do you know what? If you’re still hungry - ask for more. Several times I’ve ditched the carbs and staff have approached me and asked if I want more or the same. The genuinely want to look after your every need. It’s a real credit to the hotel that it’s so easy to eat healthily here. - I’ll definitely be going back a few pounds down (nb self control required). Another review bemoans the fact there isn’t a water park here… I mean seriously? Is that a joke? There is the most wonderful beach which is absolutely incredible for snorkelling. If you take one thing from this review - buy a full face snorkel mask before coming. It’ll be the best £30 you’ve ever spent. This is an excellent 4* hotel, you can see why it isn’t 5*, but if you’re used to 5*, book a 5*. We’re 100% coming back here next year. If you wish to read the malicious nonsensical reviews then you’re missing out. Brilliant staff. Brilliant food and just the most perfect setting. If you’re thinking of booking here, just do it. You won’t regret it.
