#7 of 26 Speciality lodging in Erg Chebbi
We created Ali & Sara's Desert Palace with the aim that our guests could experience the beautiful and natural setting of the desert, staying in clean & comfortable surroundings where the focus is relaxation and enjoyment, together with some safe adventure. Nestled well within the dunes, we're about an hour or so from Merzouga village by camel and 20-30 mins by 4x4. If preferred we can collect clients from around Morocco or if travelling independently we can greet you on your arrival in Merzouga village for you to enjoy light refreshments before setting off by the desert ship, the camel to your home for the night. Our aim is to remain as environmentally friendly as possible and lighting is by a combination of candle and solar power. We pump water from our own water well and guests can take hot water showers, with laundered towels and toiletries provided in a large dedicated bathroom which also houses a separate flush toilet. Dining is in under the stars or in our separate well furnished restaurant and food is freshly prepared to suit personal preference, served at a time to suit. We wake our guests to see sunrise although it's not obligatory and breakfast is served at a time to suit, there's no early morning rush or hurry on our part for our guests to depart. Our aim is for guests to have an exceptional and complete desert experience, we take great care of our clients and we pride ourselves on our service, always on hand, but unobtrusive.

Traveling to Morrocco with a group of friends, we undoubtedly wanted to make a visit to the Sahara - and what a truly remarkable and humbling experience it was, thanks to Ali & Sara's Desert Palace. With helpful, consistent communication with Sara (through Whatsapp/Email) prior to arriving in Morocco, all transport to the Sahara was organised for us. After arriving in the Desert Palace we were offered a range of refreshments (bottled water/Berber tea) before being given the once in a lifetime opportunity to ride camels deep into the Sahara to watch the sunset over the sand dunes - a seldom experience, never to be forgotten. The same camel rides were given for the morning sunrise (at choice, around 6AM) which offered just as beautiful views. The food provided was really delicious and differed from the other Moroccan cuisine we had tasted through other areas of Morocco (Marrakech in particular) which was interesting to see! A spectacular part of the Desert Palace were the luxurious, private tents/lavatories we were given, which were not only comfortable and elegant but also gave an authentic Moroccan feel which was greatly cherished (and there was running hot water! which was not expected, but definitely appreciated at the time). For our entire stay at the Desert Palace, we were treated with spectacular service making the trip even more enjoyable and relaxing. If you are looking for a life-changing, luxury trip to the Sahara then I would definitely recommend Ali & Sara's Desert Palace. TIP: take up both the sunset and sunrise camel ride offers, waking up extra early was definitely worth it!

Ali and Sara’s Desert Palace was the ultimate highlight of my trip to Morocco. My friends and I were amazed by the service provided from the get go; being picked up from our hotel and transported through the desert dunes in an impressive 4x4. We spent three nights and 3 days at the camp, which I must say it was beyond any expectations I had before arriving. I was most impressed by the high quality standard that was consistent throughout my visit. From sleeping in our own luxurious tents to riding camels across the breathtaking Sahara Desert at the crack of dawn; the Desert Palace provided a unique experience every single day. Pristine private shower rooms, beautifully authentic Moroccan cuisine and constant cultural entertainment gave insight into a fascinating culture and way of life I could never have imagined. It was however the extremely welcoming and friendly staff that truly made the experience one to never forget- having the attitude of any request always being a pleasure and never a chore. I would personally take joy in thanking Sara and every single member of the team at Ali and Sara’s Desert Palace for providing the most spectacular experience that I would recommend to anyone. I hope you all are well.

The desert camp was an amazing experience. The staff was top notch, being both accommodating and professional. Sayid, Hassan and Yousef, the camel handler, stand out in our memory, with Sayid being so funny you would swear he needs his own comedy show. The camp itself is clean and laid out well. The tents, while cold in the February desert night, gave you the immediate feel that you were in the Sahara (and the private showers had hot water!) While doing our research we saw other campsites and those tents had a manufactured, “VEGAS experience” look to them. In contrast our stay here felt 100% authentic. And while I’ve never eaten so much bread in my life, the food was great as well. Traveler note: Make sure you do both the sunrise camel trek and go out again for sunset. Two different experiences, both highly rewarding. Recommended.

We had the BEST time at Ali & Sara's Desert Palace. Sara was quick to reply to emails and WhatsApp messages answering all of my questions and quoted very clearly the price for our tent and camel experience. We stayed at the meeting point, Kasbah de Berger, the night before heading into the desert and had an amazing dinner. Arriving at the desert the next morning just before midday, after an exciting 4x4 ride through the dunes, we were greeted by the kindest people, Saiid and Mohammed. The entire staff were absolutely charming and made us feel right at home. The tent was decorated beautifully and we were very warm despite it being nearly freezing at night. This place is truly a paradise. We felt so relaxed instantly. We drank tea, played games up on the dunes and relaxed in the shade on the hammock. Yousef lead us on our camels to the dunes to watch the sunset and sunrise. What an unforgettable experience. The dinner and breakfast were the most delicious we have had during our stay in Morocco. We requested vegetarian meals and were over the moon with the flavours! At night we listened to music around the camp fire, told riddles and listened to some history about the Berber people. The sky was so black and the stars so many. We had a relaxing morning and left early afternoon. Just over twenty four hours felt like several days. I would recommend this camp wholeheartedly! I can't wait to be able to visit again. Thank you to the whole team!

Staying at Ali and Sara’s Desert Palace was the amazing highlight of my visit to Morroco with my daughter. From the moment we were picked up from our hotel we were looked after wonderfully. We spend two days and one night in the desert in an absolutely wonderful camp in the dunes. The tents were luxurious and comfortable beyond our expectations with comfortable beds, showers and even Wi-Fi. The food over the two days was the best we had in Morocco. It was however the staff that really made the trip special all the staff at the camp were friendly and welcoming – nothing was too much for them and we felt a real sense of the wonderful Moroccan hospitality. We experienced wonderful camel rides into the desert to see the sunset and sunrise and were also able to have walk in the desert during the days but with the wonderful relaxing and comfortable camp to return to. I would recommend Ali and Sara’s camp without reservation – a wonderful experience.
