This is an excellent guest house in a beautiful village. It is situated in Church street where there is lots of old building to visit. The room at the guest house was excellent and the breakfast was brilliant. This is the place to stay if you visit this lovely village.

Decent place to stay, friendly, fresh bedding, you will not get mugged but oh my goodness, I have never never seen so many cobwebs. That room has not seen a spring clean in years! My hair drier caused a cobweb tsunami as they were blasted out of crevices. This establishment is in need of a clean broom in more than...

Dear Skattejag Thank you very much for your feedback and apologies for the late response. We have since done a full clean of the property and put strict checks in place to ensure something like this never happens again. We hope that you will one day give our guesthouse another try, and apologise for the unfortunate experience you had with...

We had thought of booking at the Old Herberge but were put off by the very variable reviews on Trip Advisor. So we stayed at the Tulbagh Country Inn (which wins the prize, against heavy competition, for the slowest breakfast in the Cape. But we did take the chance to visit the Old Herberge, and Sherlock Holmes- like, to find...

We booked for three nights but extremely disappointed by the hotel and the restaurant - left after two nights. What I found amazing was the management did not even ask why! When we arrived we certainly were not made welcome - this is your room! There was no detail of amenities, breakfast, etc. We were in the Ruby bedroom. It...

We stayed at this beautiful hestoric guest house for two nights and what a relaxing and friendly place to have stayed at. The beauty definitely comes from all corners of this guest house as the chef came and greated us personally when we wanted to thank him for a lovely dinner even though the restaurant was busy. I want to...

An interesting looking and welcoming place let down by some of its amenities. The shower was difficult to operate with a choice of very hot water or cold. The rooms were spacious but needed better maintenance. The restaurant for dinner served poor to average food.

My fiance and I had a meal at the restaurant, but did not stay over. The old Cape Holland style exterior is very authentic and well kept and the interior is well decorated, giving you the feel of years of old. Our biggest disappointments were the food and menu. I ordered the lamb cutlets and my fiance the "bacon and...

Very sadly we were terribly disappointed on our stay.. We booked for two night but only stayed for one. It seems very very neglected and the staff do try their best. The shower is very very dangerous and needs to be seen to. Everything is very shabby and broken down.. We had trouble with Wi fi in the room and...

Dear Ms. Rose, Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor and bringing certain short comings to our attention, how ever i wish to raise the following points: I can not understand your comment about the shower being "dangerous" as this is the first time that this has been commented on. We enjoyed our stay at de Oude Herberg. It was nice to stay in such an historic building. We were greeted and shown to our room by a friendly gentlmen and informed about the restaurant's menu for that evening and opted to dine in at the in-house restaurant that night. The service and food was great and it was really...

We were in town for a weddIng, and were greeted at the door with a friendly smile. Our room was beautiful and cool as it were hot days. There is a nice swimming pool with enough lounge chairs to soak up the sun. The fruit at breakfast were fresh. Thank you for a welcoming stay. We will definitely stay here...
