This is for sure the best Hotel in the region. The management/ownership cares about every guest and makes you feel totally welcome.

Also the house is in a good location, close to a gas station and a small supermarket and in good reach of skiing resort and other places for activities. But still quite remote at the banks of the lake.

The Hotel itself is very cosy, even more when compared with other Hotels in the region. The only minor drawback is that the rooms are rather small (so consider the suite) and the air is very dry (outside and inside).

The food was outstanding. We ate great (dinner and breakfast) for the entire week. The chef (and co-owner) is very ambitioned and cares a lot about the quality of the ingredients and the food itself.

We really enjoyed our stay a lot and are sure to be staying at the Aurora Estate, should we come back to Lapland. Thank you Sirli and Heidi for making our Holiday an even better experience! Alex + Mary.

A delicious meal (mushroom soup and wild boar buns followed by caramelized pork) to be recommended. Talented help from the team who managed to add spark to my birthday with Nothern light candles.
Warm thank you for your efforts to make my special day very special.

We had dinner here on our last night in Lapland before heading to Kitilla airport, it was fantastic.
Prices were ok for the area (nothing is cheap this far north) and the food was exceptional. We had the wild boar buns and pasta aurora with reindeer fillet, both dishes were great.
Friendly staff and a beautiful location enhanced by lovely decor.

We came and visited the Estate in December with friends and the experience was mindblowing!

First of all, the hotel was luxorious in a practical way: the nordic design was beautiful and practical and even the smallest details were taken into consideration. The beautiful and clean rooms are designed from a customer's point of view - and it really works!

Second , the location was superb ! Even as a regular traveller to the north it felt magical to see the Northern Lights from my window. So cool.

Third, the craftmanship includes everything from the food to customer service. Food was amazing and the girls (owners) seem to know all the right people - husky rides, snowmobile rides or cross country skiiing, they will make it work. I really enjoyed the time spent with Atlas the Malamute.

For me, the warm atmosphere and the Lappish hospitality was the thing that made my stay extraordinary! It is rare to feel like this in a hotel - the small size makes you feel welcomed and you get the best and most customized service in town with the best accessorizes! Me likes !

Worst holiday ever, ever, ever...Avoid this place.

Stayed at this hotel with my family. We travel widely. On the first breakfast we given no choice of breakfast, but a la carte pancakes with dried reindeer and creme freche. We all felt nauseous and were told it was a local delicacy and we should be grateful.
We were then advised to book snowmobile experience with a local company the B&B trusted (turned out to be the hoteliers boyfriends company). We booked for a family experience of a snowmobile sleigh to a husky experience. The company made us sign a disclaimer when we arrived at their office. When we were shown to the sledges and vehicles, there were not enough sleighs, so I had no choice but to drive a snowmobile, or not go to the husky experience. We were given no proper training or trial of the snowmobile to get used to the controls. I found it really difficult to manually handle the controls as the skis skidded all of the ice. The Management just carried on moving away from the base to the husky experience. A fellow tourist tried to help me. They company's lead snowmobile guide sped off. I was left with my daughter at the back and couldn't even see the lead instructor,.he disappeared out of sight. I lost control of the snowmobile unattended with no instructor and crashed into a tree. My daughter and we were thrown off the snowmobile and projected through the air for metres and landed on the ground. We both still have posttraumatic stress disorder because of this. I also have a serious leg injury that has left me with chronic mobility problems with my knee, hip, pelvis and back. The leader of the snowmobile tour didn't even notice we were missing for 15 minutes. About 10 mins later, as we were both lying on the forest floor a local couple found us injured and unable to walk in the woods. They helped us and called for help. I am so grateful to them. Eventually the company snowmobile lead came back and checked the snowmobile before he checked us!! He told me I was 'lucky' as another woman on his last trip had broken her leg. I didn't feel lucky and a broken leg would have been easier than broken ligaments and joints that don't heal and psychological trauma. So the company had 2 trips that day and 2 seriously injured customers...not a good record.
They came to Aurora for dinner and they charged us €500 for the damage to the snowmobile. No apology or recompense for our injuries.
We had to pay for special assistance at the airport on our return and medical treatment.
I never received a letter of apology or anything.
Do not stay at the place. The food was terrible. The B&B space is very stiffling. No rooms to relax in or space. The proprietor was in a relationship with the snowmobile hire company and essentially ripped us off.
It is the biggest regret that we stayed in this stupid B&B and used their suggested services. I suggest you avoid.

This hotel is in a good location, away from the hustle and bustle, in the charming settlement of Yllasjärvi, which is stunning in the snow. The high point is the absolutely amazing restaurant and the wonderful breakfast, with well-made omelettes, home-baked items, fresh fruit, excellent sausages or bacon - all served based on choices you make the previous evening. Dinner at the hotel was also exceptional, but extremely expensive as well. Good thing to do as a treat, but certainly not every evening, unless you are quite wealthy indeed.
The room was rather dissappointing, however. A very basic bathroom and a very, very small double room, where there was hardly room to even turn around. The decor is 'cozy' but that still did not make up for the lack of space - and I was a single person occupying a double room. I am not sure how my friends in another 'double', sharing, managed. Essentially, the room is hardly bigger than the space needed for a bed, a wardrobe and a very small side table. There is not even room for a decent nightstand, which can get annoying if you like to have a book, a phone, and other items next to the bed. Still, the perception of space is largely cultural, so perhaps there are many who would not mind. Indeed, my friends seemed quite satisfied with their room.....
Back to the positive - the hotel also has a lovely, cabin-like building with a sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi that you can rent for a couple hours. This was extremely relaxing and worth doing - although, again, not particularly cheap. The cabin has some drinks available, a seating area and a lovely fireplace. Very charming!
Service is professional and unobtrusive.
All in all, I would recommend the place highly, but if you are claustrophobic stay away and if you are traveling alone, don't hesitate to get a double room anyway!
