Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sitting in the airport waiting for my plane, and thinking back on a very memorable stay at Aurora Estate. What a high-mark in hospitality! Heidi never tires of making the guests’ stay as pleasurable as possible, while Sirly is a truly excellent cook. We had 5 diners and the food is simply the best (and apparently famous in the region). Our room was clean and comfortable (although a couple of hooks to hang our skiing gear on to dry would be welcome). Very good beds (I’m 1.87 m)! I have been to Lapland in summer for fly fishing, but would certainly recommend a winter stay. If you do, stay here! (And Sirly: if you start offering fishing trips I will certainly be back in summer).

Extremely nice surroundings to have a dinenr with an international group. Delicious local cuisine utilising fish and reindeer. The service was excellent, and the guests were kept happy througout our visit.

We stayed as a two couples during the glory of Lappish Autumn. Aurora Estate is a delightful Bed and Breakfast where the hosts Heidi and Sirly make you most welcome in their character-filled establishment. The location is superb by the lake and is supported by a number of facilities. The meals produced by Masterchef Sirly are class leading using the best quality ingredients. We look forward to return.

Lovely stay overall. Food and service was excellent. Great location overlooking a lake, sauna house was very good. The rooms are small but well decorated, excellent shower. The two young ladies running the hotel are very professional and you can feel their passion for their business.

We booked a 4-night stay at the Aurora Estate Hotel a couple of months before our visit in February as a trip for my 50th birthday. Prior to our visit I exchanged emails with Heidi who was very helpful in answering all my questions. We decided to take the bus from Kittilä airport as it was only €12.5 each way (much cheaper than €80 for a taxi and ours was the first stop after the airport) - on request it drops you very close to the hotel. Although there was thick snow it was an easy 200 metre walk from the drop off by the small supermarket to the hotel. We checked in and were shown to our room which was at the top of the stairs and had a nice view overlooking what is probably fields thick with snow! The room was rather ‘bijoux’ and with two suitcases of cold weather gear it

We have visited the restaurant yearly since Aurora Estate opened and the restaurant has been excellent every time. This was our first overnight stay in the hotel. The room was charming, very clean and beautiful. The breakfast was served to the table and was very tasty.

We stayed here on the first night of our honeymoon and were blown away by the magic of the place! We received such a warm welcome when we arrived and booked a table for dinner that evening in the hotel’s restaurant. The food was incredible!!! And the service was brilliant. The next morning we started the day with a delicious breakfast, the attention to detail was really good. We were then lucky enough to book a private slot in the hotel’s sauna and jacuzzi (and of course took a plunge in the frozen lake!). A definite must! If you would like to eat at a set time or guarantee a slot in the sauna, I would recommend booking this ahead of your trip as I think we were really lucky to get this to work for us.

Shockingly unwelcome place. We had to wait over an hour (after a very long journey) to check us in due to Heidi checking our reservation. Room was tiny. Beds were uncomfortable. Food was cold for dinner. Very humble breakfast that left us hungry. Heidi, the server and the owner – short and impatient, borderline irritated. Left us with an unpleasant feeling. The place is overpriced and the owner is overly arrogant. Strongly suggest staying in Levi – the prices are much lower and the service is so much better. I want to tell the owners: stop promoting yourself like you are at the level that you are claiming to be.

Hi, we have asked the Tripadvisor crew to take this review out since it appears not to be accurate. If someone would be this upset for the service and all, they wouldn't wait a year to write review like this. It states you have visited us last march, 2017. Anyone who has visited us knows that our breakfast is awesome (which is separately mentioned in most of our reviews), our beds are brand new and high quality and getting a lot of good feed back. Our hotel is new, clean, has maybe smaller rooms, but cute and cozy as written in many other reviews here, Facebook and Booking.com We are always aware of the guests that arrive to our hotel, we don´t need to check it out for an hr, since we have daily lists of arriving, departing and continuing guests. We have only 7 rooms. Anyway, if I wouldn't have had your arrival info right there, I would´ve found it in 5 minutes from my computer. We do value all the feed back and reviews and learn from our mistakes, but unfortunately in this case it is not possible since these things you have written is not based on facts, but seems to be an attempt to lower our high rating by someone. I think Levi is at the same price range, but of course we understand if someone prefers to go there since it has a very different profile and clientele than Ylläs. But gladly we are close by so we can serve in more different ways, clients with different kinds of need and expectation on their holiday. Best regards Aurora Estate Crew

I just loved this hotel: cute room design, friendly and helpful staff, delicious fresh food, stunning location by the lake, what an enchanting place! My fiance proposed to me as were star gazing in the outdoor jacuzzi, surrounded by snow covered trees, what a dream come true! I will never forget this place for so many reasons! We had both dinner and breakfast and it was worth every penny, the chef is simply amazing, delicious freshly prepared ingredients, attentive service, such a delightful time!
