Detailed Reviews
The Aurora Estate is an absolute delight in every way. The food, hospitality and care are second to none. It is a very special little place set on the edge of a beautiful lake, where you can even have a private dinner served to you by the fire in the sauna house. Brilliant location, where the ski bus can pick you up just at the end of the lane. It is so great being close enough to the ski slopes, whilst at the same time being in a quiet and very peaceful location. Nikklas, the chef, is hugely talented and the cleaners, waiters and waitresses are friendly and gracious. We were lucky enough to stay for a whole week and loved every minute of our stay. Thank you to everyone at Aurora Estate for a truly wonderful hotel and dining experience!

Rooms cozy and with a personal a sense of style, as was the restaurant. Food really very competently done, a good celebratory supper. Would love to see an extension to the premises, with a bar around a fireplace and perhaps a little terrace with warming lamps. Now there are rooms and the restaurant, but no real place to sit and have a drink with a book. Warmly recommended.

My wife and I stayed here just one day to cut down our drive time. The self check in that evening was easy with clear instructions. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a homey feel. The breakfast the following morning was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and cheerful.

When you arrive to the best new boutique hotel (2018) in Europe, your expectations are naturally set pretty high, e.g at a comparable level to the best boutique hotels in Helsinki. This is not what you get at Aurora Estate, even if the hotel stands out positively from the local hotel offering. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, but the rest of the interior decoration is pretty basic, including the rooms. Have to give a plus for the beds, though. The breakfast is advertised as ”artisan” one, but it also falls short of high expectations. Only the orange juice and smoothies lived up to the promise, while the rest of the breakfast items were quite dull and basic supermarket stuff. One would expect e.g. handmade bread, but is was probably bought from the neighbouring grocery. The hotel location and concept would match perfectly with utilisation of local delicacies, like berries, mushrooms, reindeer, but none of the breakfast items were even remotely local and fresh by nature. I do understand, if the covid time has forced the hotel owners to ”cut corners” in many ways to manage through the difficult times. If so, it has happpend at at clear cost of customer experience / high expectations. This can’t be a cost issue alone. E.g. berries and mushrooms are all over the surrounding nature for free. It just takes a few hours to go and pick them up in the best fall season. Finally I have to give credit for a very pleasant and flexible service, nothing to complain about that, in fact the opposite. If the owners read this, I really hope that you get some ideas from this review to make most of your unique location and reputation (referring to the evening restaurant, which we were unfortunately not able to test) in the future. And perhaps a little ”push” too ; )

We had made sure in advance by phone that the two small children could come to the sauna/swim with the others. When we arrived at the place, the supervisor who was there saw problems in the matter, did not want to let the children in and behaved inappropriately. Fortunately, the employee corrected the situation with his good behavior. The area was nice. Minus the temperature in the sauna, which did not rise above 50 degrees, and the really slippery paths.

I arrived after a long trip from North Cape. I did not expect anything special. But I was proved wrong. Very wrong. Right after my arrival I was welcomed in a very nice and charming way. The owner showed me my room which was perfectly nice and cosy. I enjoyed Dinner in this beautiful restaurant and was astonished by the quality of food. I got interested as I was so nicely surprised and heard a bit of the background story to this place which was very interesting. The place is run by two very young girls and I must say - my deepest respect for what they do. And the energy they put into it. Fantastic to experience this. The estate is located on a lake. Not nearby - 20m from the lake. So in winter they arrange snow safaris, lunches for groups, and of course accommodation. When I was there I was the only guest for overnight stay (they have only 7 rooms at the moment but soon will have more). The owner who is the chef at the same time came in and made me the best breakfast I had in my entire trip. I'm so happy to have enjoyed this place and this fantastic people. I can only recommend. I'm for 35 years in the tourism business but you do not see such a professional and charming hospitality at the same time. Definitely a must!

I booked a new years eve meal for 7 people, 10 weeks in advance. It looked really nice and boasted of its luxuriousness and quality.
It was a huge disappointment.
Although it was a beautiful building and nicely decorated, the tables and chairs were so closely packed together that the guests and servers had to climb over people's legs, chairs and tables all night.
The menu was given out on just a blank piece of a4 paper as a list. This would've been ok, but they didn't have one of the only four main courses on offer. They only told us this after we had tried to order this dish.
Next, we ordered 3 of the same starters. When it was served, an hour later, they only brought 2. They said they'd run out of ingrediants and gave us an alternative starter without consulting us.
At this point, a guest brought a very beautiful husky puppy into the restaurant, sat it on his lap and fed him from his plate. The servers constantly petted and played with this puppy and then returned directly to handling our food. No hand washing involved.
Perhaps this is just something I don't understand as a Brit?
Another hour and twenty minutes before the main course arrived...
We ordered 4 steaks and 3 other main meals. The three other meals came out together, and one of the steaks 5 minutes later. That steak dish was freezing cold; the steak, herb butter, pea purée, parsnip purée and potato rosti, everything was cold. I sent it back and it was reheated, which I of cotrse refused again and ended up not eating at all.
The other 3 steaks came another 10 minutes later and were all missing the parsnip purée as they'd again, run out. And again, they were cold and left uneaten.
We had to leave at this point as it was now 11.40 and we were attending fireworks at midnight. So no desert or coffee.
Despite our complaints throughout the night the manager still wanted to charge us just under 400euros (albeit a 100euro bottle of champagne was included)
Verve was the only champagne they sold at the restaurant but it was quite funny to see this wasn't the champagne being served as part of the new years eve menu.
The chef did say that a member of the kitchen staff had phoned in sick, but they were being replaced with her boyfriend...so not to worry.
Needless to say, we won't be going back. Nor did we pay for any of the food, but still ended up paying 160euros for the drinks.
It's a shame this restaurant was not able to live up to its own hype.

Shockingly unwelcome place. We had to wait over an hour (after a very long journey) to check us in due to Heidi checking our reservation. Room was tiny. Beds were uncomfortable. Food was cold for dinner. Very humble breakfast that left us hungry. Heidi, the server and the owner – short and impatient, borderline irritated. Left us with an unpleasant feeling. The place is overpriced and the owner is overly arrogant. Strongly suggest staying in Levi – the prices are much lower and the service is so much better. I want to tell the owners: stop promoting yourself like you are at the level that you are claiming to be.

Hi, we have asked the Tripadvisor crew to take this review out since it appears not to be accurate. If someone would be this upset for the service and all, they wouldn't wait a year to write review like this. It states you have visited us last march, 2017. Anyone who has visited us knows that our breakfast is awesome (which is separately mentioned in most of our reviews), our beds are brand new and high quality and getting a lot of good feed back. Our hotel is new, clean, has maybe smaller rooms, but cute and cozy as written in many other reviews here, Facebook and Booking.com We are always aware of the guests that arrive to our hotel, we don´t need to check it out for an hr, since we have daily lists of arriving, departing and continuing guests. We have only 7 rooms. Anyway, if I wouldn't have had your arrival info right there, I would´ve found it in 5 minutes from my computer. We do value all the feed back and reviews and learn from our mistakes, but unfortunately in this case it is not possible since these things you have written is not based on facts, but seems to be an attempt to lower our high rating by someone. I think Levi is at the same price range, but of course we understand if someone prefers to go there since it has a very different profile and clientele than Ylläs. But gladly we are close by so we can serve in more different ways, clients with different kinds of need and expectation on their holiday. Best regards Aurora Estate Crew

The restaurant is using local indegriedents with some personal twist. The food is best in town! The staff, location and athmosphere were all friendly. We had even live music on. I can highly recommend Aurora Estate both for food and accomodation!

Y a t il des excursions possibles en partant de l'hôtel ? Combien coûte un repas au restaurant ? y a t il d'autres restaurants aux alentours ? LA station de ski est elle loin ? la navette aeroport est à quel prix ?
Merci, Clarisse
