We had pre booked this as one of our must do’s in Lapland. It’s about 30 minutes from our base in Levi. We booked through Ingham prior to holiday.
The hotel is a fascinating and unique location to stay. We had booked three course evening meal in ice restaurant costing $65 per person not cheap but for location and Finnish prices not extortionate and quality was excellent and what a unique dining experience it was. We managed to have one drink in icebar as we arrived 15.30 and bar closes at 17.00 due to new covid regulations in Finland which really put a dampener on the evening although this is obviously out of the hotels control.
The hotel is amazing and it’s theme this year was time and space travel. It felt very 2001 space odyssey to me, the sculptures are outstanding.
We were able to stay in a warm communal room before we were allowed access to the rooms at 22.00. After all the day visitors have gone it really did feel a much more magical place. Although due to covid restrictions our meal was a lot earlier with a few hours to kill. Although there is a tipi with log burning fire which was very relaxing to spend an hour while waiting.
Finally our room was ready, you pick up your sleeping bag and inner bag from the warm room, which is available 24/7 for guests for shower toilets or a warm if necessary.
My wife and I found the sleeping bags very warm and cosy and we both wore two thin layers. Didn’t find it cold except on your face which you can bring the sleeping bag hood over you to keep yourself nice and cosy. The main problem for me was the light rather than the cold a eye shield definitely recommended. Then we were woken at 8.00 am with a warm drink. We changed in warm room then had breakfast in log restaurant which although not the last word in luxury but very nice all the same.
Not the best nights sleep I have ever had but far from the worst and would happily repeat the experience. Because after all that is why we booked to be able to experience staying in the ice hotel and the experience certainly didn’t disappoint and you even get a certificate as a souvenir.

Just wonderful! The road that takes you to the hotel is already beautiful and evocative. We only visited it, we didn't sleep there. The works of art are beautiful and well finished in detail, the beds are made of ice with skins on them. There is a beautiful bar where you can drink some bitters to warm up (10 euros per glass) but it's worth it! This is better than what is in Rovaniemi....

Arrived on 22nd December with a Family party oy 14, 2 Grandparents, 3 Daughters, 2 Son in Laws and 7 children, ranging from 3 too 16 First the negative. We booked a 4 night 5 day stay with tui. Don't be sucked in with the 5th day. We had to get the coach for the airport at 0730 so not much of a 5th day. Positives, all rooms, 4 in total and an apartment, spotless Food. Basic but very nice and constantly refreshed. Bar well stocked Snow Village superb experience. I took the grandkids letters the had wrote and gave them too an elf outside, they, as too Santa, played along instantly about collecting them from the post office, kids were amazed. Bit of advice, buy your own sledge from the supermarket about £20 and keep it with you, on site ones get easily damaged, we just fou d some new guests on our last night and gave them the sledges, it was Christmas Day. Overall SUPERB EXPERIENCE. Once in a life time trip

Brought our kids to the snow hotel in Finland. Amazing staff (Tommi and Thiago to name but 2). Not a cheap destination but lots of little benefits add to the value if the place. Highly recommend ice skating and ice fishing. Bring earplugs in case you have to abandon the ice room sleeping and go to the bunks....

Great snow hotel. It wasn't finished when we visited but we were allowed in. Awesome ice sculptures - this year's theme is Nordic legend. Staff and ice the people carving the ice sculptures were friendly. The bar was open and drinks are not cheap but then it's not cheap to build an ice hotel. All very good. Nice drink at the bar. Well worth a visit.

We had hoped to spend overnight in an ice room but there wasn't enough snow and cold temps to enable building the rooms this year so we did a tour of the ice sculptures and had dinner in the ice restaurant. The talent in the sculptures is fab and it's such an interesting area to explore. I hire a lovely hot chocolate with mint liqueur in the ice bar. We loved seeing around. The service and food in the ice restaurant were fabulous. In our opinion it is worth the price.

This is a wonderful place to visit. The hotel rooms and spaces are rebuilt for every winter with new ice and snow decorations. I thought that nothing would beat the Game of Thrones decorations of last winter, but this year’s were as awesome. The ticket of 18€ was not too much.

Clearly the highlight of staying in such a place is sleeping in rooms made of snow and ice and eating in the ice restaurant and drinking at the ice bar. We did do all of those things and it was a good experience. The sleeping bags they give you do keep you sufficiently warm (don't worry!) even though I had my doubts and we did get a good night's sleep surprisingly.
The part I wasn't expecting is that it is rather like camping (and not very well organised camping) including having to walk through the snow OUTSIDE (open air) the ice hotel to get to a toilet in the middle of the night. The snow part actually joins onto the main hotel reception, warm restaurant and has a set of toilets and lockers. These are all closed off during the night and instead you need to walk outside in the snow (-20 degrees) to another building called the "warm place" which has one (!) toilet for men and one (!) toilet for women.
The lack of toilets during the night is less of an issue, but noting that everyone gets woken up at the same time of the morning, you can have up to 30 people in the warm place waiting for toilets and showers. Seems there has been some lack of planning in that the women's toilet is combined with the only women's shower, so if someone is using the shower, nobody can use the toilet. There is only a total of 3 showers at the "warm place" to share between many guests. It seemed many people did not bother with a shower as it was all too hard.
The included breakfast was tragic considering the price, though dinner (not included) was reasonably priced (not dissimilar to prices in Levi centre) and good, including wine and drinks.
Overall an interesting experience, just seems there are some things they really could have done better which would have made a big difference.

This is one of the most amazing places I have ever visited.
We took the tour, ate in the ice restaurant and stayed the night in an igloo.
The snow and ice art is amazing, it is incredible what can be achieved in the medium of snow and ice and I think that anyone who can should visit.
The surroundings and food in the ice restaurant were also fantastic. It is a real experience to sit on ice chairs at an ice table and it is a bonus that the food is really really good. I believe it is also possible to have the same food in the log cabin. However, the cabin, whilst much warmer is not a particularly luxurious environment ... more like a cafe .. and wouldn’t really fit with the gourmet food.
So far everything was amazing .... then we stayed the night.
It is really hard to comprehend how cold the igloos are until you stay in one. We were supplied with really warm sleeping bags but this was a problem for me as I normally like a cool-ish sleeping environment. Any bits of me that were in the bag were too hot and anything not in the bag was subjected to the bitter cold (zero to -5 degrees C). Another issue is that the lights are never turned out ... so if you need the dark to sleep you are out of luck. It is possible to de-camp to a communal warm kitchen area that has sofa beds .... but that misses the point. The breakfast was in the log cabin and was adequate but I suppose a shade disappointing considering the cost of staying.
I have been quite negative about this part of the trip and even I can make the argument with myself that I should expect to be cold in an igloo. However, I suggest that before anyone thinks about staying they take in to account that it is basically very expensive camping in the freezing cold and adjust their expectations accordingly. Admittedly the surroundings are stunning. My suggestion is to do the tour ... eat in the restaurant and go back to your warm hotel with proper beds and the luxury of light switches.

My daughter and I spent a night at the hotel and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is amazing in how it’s constructed and the snow and ice carvings throughout it. The staff were friendly and very helpful. They did everything to make us comfortable for the evening. It’s an experience that everyone should try.
