Excellent family hotel. Tranquility, warm and respectful welcome, kindness... Ideal quiet location, at the foot of the cross-country ski trails and hiking/snowshoeing trails and the frozen lake. Next to a small supermarket, cafe, bus and restaurant.
The minimalist but sufficient comfort of the rooms with relaxation rooms and a restaurant where you can enjoy yourself in the morning and evening and which even has a card game room with friends in the evening 😂.
The activities are perfect with appropriate clothing (great comfort not to be cold and to be safe!).
The kitchen, service and reception staff are very kind, with a special mention for Sanna who is incredibly kind.
We immerse ourselves in Finnish culture (we like it or not, but it’s their culture) and personally I just want to go back!

We were on a Santa day trip and our flight home was cancelled.
This hotel opened up specially for us as their season had not started yet. So everything was a bit crazy.
Got there after midnight and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean and warm, despite it having been closed.
They even managed to put on a breakfast for all of us who were stranded and it was quite good too.
Room is basic but perfect. It is en-suite. The blinds are funny, you could have them slightly open and be able to see the sky, I guess to see the aurora if it is active.
The village seems lovely and the little shop up the road has everything.
Views around the hotel really beautiful too.
Thank you for a nice (but unexpected) night.

I loved this small family-style hostel. The room is simple but sufficiently equipped for the stay. The restaurant offers local dishes. The traditional Finnish sauna is free. Cross-country skis and snowshoes can be borrowed free of charge to venture around the hotel. Extreme cold equipment was provided in my travel package. The guides offer snowmobile outings, dog sledding, ice floating, etc... And of course the destination allowed me to see the Northern Lights, the BEST.

Had an amazing week organised by Safartica, excellent organised adventure trips. Guides were amazing, fun and knowledgeable. Highlights snow mobile trips, husky adventure, Reindeer safari and ice floating.
We stayed at Yllas Lake hotel. Unfortunatly very basic hotel. Very 70,s style. Breakfast & Dinner choice good. Restaurant Service poor, only good if Mike was working. Reception Good when some staff on duty. Cleaning twice a week, but not cleaned good. Location very good on the lake, where we got to see the Aurora Northern lights (twice).

Super location! All our excursions start from the hotel, some by bus from the hotel.
Breakfast very good with lots of choice.
Dinner in buffet form also plenty of choice with something for everyone.
Well supplemented and tasty.
Hotel itself very basic, no WiFi in the room, no TV, no window that could be opened. Cleaning could certainly be better, as well as the towel changes. Positive good showers and good beds. Overdue maintenance! No entertainment in the evening, for example a recreation room!
Much of this is compensated by the super friendly staff
Also the excursion guides
Very friendly, good English speaking and knowledgeable

We gave it a rating of 3 because it is a good hotel, the staff is nice and pleasant, it is clean, nothing to say about that. What brings the rating down is the bathroom which is clean but dated with equipment that has outlived its usefulness. The bathroom is tiled but the joints are damaged, the sink is cracked, in short it has aged well. On the other hand, I would like to point out that everything is functional.

Clean and friendly! You feel at home at Tunturihotelli.
Hellevi and the other hostess are very helpful. The location is perfect, besides the lake and the forest. Just at the door you can start cross country skiing, and you are close too many adventure's safaris with Ylläs Adventure team, close to the hotel. Only 5km from the skiing resort!

So I stayed here 1 night. Everything else was perfect but.. On arrival, they told me all the information needed but missed important informations like the reception opening time, bus to the airport, checkin/checkout time. I had to do all the asking. Even so, they didn't tell me completely and I forgot to ask somethings. So I checked in at about 4pm. Fell asleep until about 11pm and realised that the heater in my room was not on and couldn't find a way to turn it on. It seemed to be controlled by main system I guess. So I was freezing cold and went to the reception but it was closed. I spent the whole night freezing. On arrival, I did ask airport bus time so that was all they told me. On departure day, I thought I had to wait in front of the hotel and asked the reception. Then they told me "did you call the bus to pick you up here? Because bus don't stop here, you have to walk to the souvenir shop. " I was freaking out because I only had less than 5 minutes and that was the only bus to catch my flight. They should've told me that when I asked on arrival day. So she called the bus and luckily it wasn't too late, the bus could still come and pick me up. One more thing, the Internet is available but blocked when the reception is closed. it's only available in main area.

we stayed one week at the Tunturihotel. Room convenient for a family with two children (two real parts in the room). Food was simple but good, and staff very nice. The departures for the outdoor activities organised by Safartica are at the hotel, which is also very convenient. it is easy to complete your program etc. You can practise cross country skiing also just from the hotel.
It is a small hotel, quiet, with a bar and a small area to read, play cards, Watch TV. Eventually there is a sauna, very pleasant at the end of your day.

This lodge is basic, 2-star as billed, but for all that warm, comfortable, and friendly. The rooms are spartan with no TV etc. but good beds, hot water, decent showers. Frankly when there for winter activities (which can be had in abundance as there is a tour office on site and you can rent skis etc.) this is all you need. Breakfast is filling but not fancy and evening meal is slightly eclectic buffet mix but essentially fine. This hotel is opposite the lake with fine views in clear weather and right next to the start of a long long cross-country ski run. For people addicted to wifi this hotel might not satisfy as it is slow and you can only really hook up from the reception and dining areas. But lets face it you'll be here for the snow and outdoor pursuits!
