We booked the outdoor activities through our travel agent, which were carried out directly by the in-house company. Experienced and friendly guides, good quality equipment and an exciting range of activities.
We can highly recommend the place and this hotel.
There are two things I would like to be different:
- There is a light outside the room. However, you can only darken the large window with very light curtains. This makes the room relatively bright.
- The sauna is relatively small and there are only small disposable towels to sit on. You have to take your normal towel from the bathroom with you when you shower. I know that the environment suffers with all the washing, but it would be nice if a second towel could be provided so that you could then use it multiple times. It would also be nice if water and tea were served in the sauna.

But the food is really top class. There was a buffet for both breakfast and in the evening, we could never try everything, the selection was so extensive.
Thank you for the wonderful vacation, we will be back.

The stay was perfect, the buffets for the breakfast and the dinner were delicious! Every time there was some lappish specialties. The personal is also very friendly.
The bar was also great and the food and cocktails were delicious 😀.
Thanks for the amazing stay and we will definitely come back soon! 😁
We would recommend this place to anyone who likes quietness, you can go to Äkäslompolo directly on foot by the frozen lake (approx. 20mim on way).

We would recommend this as an excellent place to stay and enjoy Finland.

I recommand even the price of 180.- per adult is higher than the others, but it's a privative trip.

Firstly the hotel. We stayed in a standard room which is a large lodge each consisting of 4 lodges. Outside each room there was a clothes dryer which was lovely as each morning your snow suits would be dry and warm! The lodges themselves were very picturesque on the outside and warm and snug on the inside. It consisted of a downstairs twin room, 2 small wardrobes, a wet room and a mezzanine floor which slept another 2. There is a large tv, telephone in the room, a fridge and a hair dryer. The rooms were clean and suited our needs perfectly. There are larger rooms and apartments too, which cater for larger groups.
There is a restaurant and a pub, which also serves lunches. Most meals are buffet style. Breakfast consists of fruit, cereals, continental style breakfast and bits of a full English. Fine for our needs. Lunch served in the pub consisted of burgers or spaghetti bolognaise etc. Dinner in the main restaurant again is generally buffet style. Also on site is a small gift shop, a ski shop, hot tub and sauna and an area set up for sledging and snowball fights!! Great fun. Sledges are provided for your use. The staff are friendly and helpful. A lovely hotel.
Now to magic of Lapland. Really where do I start!!! Fantastic service right from booking, throught to sending your letter to father christmas, getting your invite, to arrival and going home.
The trip was totally amazing. Worth every single penny. You are met at the airport by santas elves and they will be with you through every excursion whether ones that are included or ones that are extra. The elves take you clothes and shoe sizes and your snow clothes are waiting for you at the hotel on arrival, anything that doesn't fit can be changed. You are then served lunch before going by coach to go on our husky sleigh ride. I need to make it clear that these trips are not 5 minute tasters that you get with other companies, but the real deal. It was great fun driving the huskies. The children are safely and snuggly in the sleigh in front of you. I guess this was about 25 minutes long. Afterwards you go for hot berry juice and they tell you about the huskies.
Day 2. The day its all about!! You get your personal invite and time from santa. You are taken to a special secret location where all sorts of fun await. Again this is a relatively small amount of people so there is no waiting around for anything. When you see santa You are taken by snowmobile and then you have a short reindeer sleigh ride. Then you go to his log cabin where you have a private family meeting which lasts about 10 minutes. Santa reads the letter which he has already received from your child and talks to them about what they want. A very believable nordic santa that your child will be mesmerised with. They receive a small gift in our case a soft husky and then you return again by reindeer and snowmobile. The country is absolutely beautiful it really is a winter wonderland. Words cannot describe how beautiful it is. Other activites include arctic crossing ceremony, making christmas decorations, (these are really cute), decorating gingerbread cookies, kick sledging, sledging (massive hill) mini snowmobiles, tandem skiing and snow shoe walking. You are there all day and the kids and you will have great fun.
We had a 4 day break so the next day was free time or you could book extra trips. We opted for cross country skiing and the ice hotel. Again the elves take you off by coach to get your ski equipment and teach you along the way. Once they are confident with how everyone is getting on you ski over the frozen lake. They look after you impecably and are constantly watching to help adults and children alike. I fell over alot and the elf was always there to help me get up.
In the afternoon we went to the ice village. I would highly recommend this as an extra. It truly is stunning. The sculptures are amazing. You can stay here the night if you wish, but personally a bit cold for me. This was one of my 6 year old daughters favourite things. Maybe because of the frozen castle slide in the middle!!! Stunning.
Our last day boo hoo. Morning was free time, after breakfast and checking out. We used the sledging area and went for a walk round the hotel area to look at the beautiful countryside. Then after lunch you were taken by your elves by coach for the snowmobile safari. I was worried about doing this, but the worry was short lived. It was great. The children all go in a large sleigh at the front. The surrounding area was absolutely beautiful, breathtaking in fact. Again this is not a taster. The safari was 2 hours long with a short stop for a sausage cooked on the fire and hot berry juice. On your return, you return your warm clothing and get depressed because you have to go home!!!! Your elves take you to the airport after a short stop at a gift shop and the children get their snowmobile certificate and reindeer driving license and the elves stay with you till you're all checked in.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. It was a truly amazing holiday that we will all remember forever. Loved, loved, loved it. The only problem is my daughter wants to go every year now!!
