The chalet with 8 people enjoys a prime location in the centre of Äkäslompolo and on the lake. Everything around (activities and supermarket) are very easily accessible. The chalet is clean, offers enough space and is well equipped.
Everything you need is provided. There are 4 twin rooms, 2 toilets with sink, shower room and sauna, living room with well-equipped kitchen and fireplace. There is ample storage space.
The scenery is breathtaking. We have stayed here during a trip booked with Lapland Travel. There are plenty of feasible and challenging walks nearby. We have had a wonderful journey here.

Beautiful place, beautiful destination. The cabin was very cozy and clean. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. They were easily accessible for questions and even sent apps when the Northern Lights were visible. Overall it was a great experience. Definitely recommended!

Room Tip:Boek zeker een plekje bij de sauna die ze hebben. Samen met het ice dippen een hele leuke ervaring.

We stayed in one of the typical Lapland red houses of this property for the second time. Always in the winter season and nine years later from the first to the second time. The cottages are very cozy, well heated and absolutely nothing is missing. They are located in a strategic place, near the supermarket, the pharmacy, the bus stop, an excellent pizzeria, the lake, tour operators. Yet they are located in a very quiet and peaceful place. A beautiful place to spend dream holidays.

This review is based on the Yllas lig cabins in Akaslompolo booked through Inghams. The flight was good with Jet 2 was good and on time. Kittila airport is small and a inghams rep was great at sorting the large crowd trying to get the cases. We arrived at our log cabin and we're very please. Had to make our own beds but the linen was fresh and clean. The cabin had everything we needed. Rustic is the best word. Great drying cuboard for wet stuff, a fully kitted kitchen, washing machine, and sauna. We forgot to bring a hairdryer but one of the inghams Reps managed to find us one for the week. A nice personal touch. We tbought one of the bedrooms was small but it did the job. Bed were very comfy. The level upstairs had a very steep and narrow staircase. Would not like to put children or people with mobilty issues upstairs, but we only used the space to store cases. We didn't downhill ski but booked lots of trips through Inghams, snow hotel, snow shoe walking, snow mobiling, winter walks, husky sleding reindeer farm visit, snow boarding taster session, plus best of all we saw the northern lights 4 out of 7 nights. There are sledges everywhere, no need to pay just find one and take it. Four 50ish adults had the most fun sledging down the path of the Yllas fell. We also tried cross country skiing and just hired the skis from destination Lapland in the town, the tracks are really well mapped and not over crowded. So much to do for those who want to go to Lapland but not ski. Great super market, good shops and pubs, we ate at the Akas hotel, breakfast was very good, evening meals a bit boring so we ate out 3 times. The inghams Reps in resort were great, very helpful and interactive with all guests. A wonderful hoilday with amazing memories

We had such a great stay with Vesa and Marja. They are very friendly and helpfull. They call you on the cellphone you can borrow when the northernlights is to be seen. The cabin is well equiped with everything you need for a great stay. The cabin has a lot of space , is very clean and comfortabele. The location SUPER!! Very near to the lake. Next to the supermarket and shops. Activity operators just across the street. Busstop in front the road near the cabin. The ski area is about 10 minutes with the public bus.

We went to sauna and ice swimming here. Everything went well, sauna was good and atmosphere even better. Thank you! One thing would be nice: maybe there could be open turns in sauna so you dont have to rent it by yourself

Wonderful hosts, immaculate cabins, and warm. Easy walk to lake and shopping, lovely and dark at night. Will definitely be back!!
The sauna is a dream to go into after a day out in the snow. Never turned the tv on once!! The area where the cabins are is like a little community but with enough space between cabins. We loved ours it looked onto the lake which was lovely. Fully equipped cabin and even a mobile phone for contacting the host Maria, and get notifications of the Northern Lights! No dishes to do, dishwasher, nice washer and drying cabinet, what more can I say than perfect for couples, families and singles! Everything within easy reach without encroachment.

Northern Lights are in ample supply in Lapland. They say 50% of the year minimum.
Why stay in a hotel that does not give you: Private sauna Clothes washer Kitchen Garden By the Lake for a cheaper alternative
Best for families, couples, skiers. (Skis kept in a ski hut not cabin). Ample parking on site.
The cabins offer much more with ample tables, play area for kids, rental equipment located very close, safari tour offices close by.
For convenience: bus stop out front, lake at rear, supermarket next door, pub & restaurant next door, a few retail shops & cafe next door, motor fuel alongside those.
Located on ski bus circuit, catch bus to the various slopes or cross country locations or villages.
Cabins have everything you need in. Wifi good.
Northern lights - owners kindly send a text alert to cabins when northern lights are in visibility. This is always dependent on many weather factors ofcourse. Viewing on site by walking down to lake, at rear of cabin site, offers amazing opportunity.
Owners Marya and Vesa are onsite. Their service is 10 star.
If travelling from Helsinki without car, catch plane to Kittila. Bus from airport to Akaslompolo. Two bus choice: Grundren is local that aligns with flights to & from. Cheapest, no booking. Ylläs express will deliver you to door but more expensive, operator did not speak English like most bus drivers we encountered, booking online no later than 2 days before your date is required, I tried 5 times online and it failed to align flight with requested pickup time. Taxis available but only few and most costly.

We had a great time in Ylläksen Yopuu ! The cottage is very well located : the lake is a few hundred meters away, the agencies for organised tours or ski rental are accessible by foot, the market just 3 minutes away. Even if it's located in the center, you don't feel surrounded by the village or facilities because the village is quite small and spread, you just see trees and some other cottages through the windows. We did see Marja just a short time for the check-in, she was very helpfull and also very arranging for our check-in and check-out times : we arrived in the middle of the night and could directely access the cottage that was already well heated.

Hei!
And thanks for your message! Best time of year? Difficult, because you dont never know when the Northern Lights are coming, maby few hours before night, but no days, no weeks before. And you need also clear sky for that, not so cold, not -30 , but clear sky.
Do you like snow? If not, good time will be next month, maby October too, (never know when the sow come, sometimes on October, sometimes November) On September and October is usually warmer, not so cold than January. And this time is low season, so prices are cheaper on accommodation.
But of course, if you want to see snow, lot of snow, its February. Usually we have about one meter snow and like last winter, the trees was all in snow, it was beautiful. But, how you like?
Best Regards
Vesa
