Just spent the week at the hotel on (20-27 Feb 2022) on a group skiing holiday though Crystal Ski. There were 14 of us - 9 adults and 5 kids. The hotel is in a good location- short walk to the shops and bars. The ski bus picks up from the front of the hotel and Crystal Ski customers can get free daily bus tickets from the hotel reception. The bus trip to the ski resort is 4km and only takes 10 minutes. The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed in a quad room with 2 single beds downstairs and 2 beds up stairs in a mezzanine. There is a wardrobe with sliding mirror doors and a fridge. The bathroom is a wet room with shower, sink and toilet, and a sauna. The rooms were warm. A bit too warm at times but you can open the windows (near in mind it can be -20 outside!) The food was good. Food is taken in the restaurant. Breakfast had a wide choice including cereal, fruits, continental and egg, bacon and sausages. Evening meal is a buffet and there was plenty of food and choice. The kids (teenagers) enjoyed the food too. There is a bar in the restaurant and a bar in the foyer. The kids liked the games room. The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Always there to help with questions and service was good too. They helped us arrange a taxi bus to the Snow Village (which was by far cheaper option than booking an organised trip). We even saw the Northern Lights outside the hotel! We really enjoyed our trip to Lapland and I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Thanks for having us.…
Location is great and not a problem getting to the slopes on a bus which is really frequent. Hotel basic as in other reviews but ok. Staff very lovely. Could definitely do with an interior update mostly in the rooms, stairs and corridors. Only issues were the food mostly the evening meal which as others have said there is barely any choice and nothing for the kids at all. They must use the same herb/spice in everything as everything tastes the same and isn’t great. As someone else said with a fussy eater all there is are chips which even she got sick of. Also our room only got cleaned once which wasn’t great. Finland itself is beautiful and we will go again but not to that Hotel probably. The quad rooms have a very steep staircase up to the mezzanine area so be mindful if you have anyone under the age of 7.…
We booked this hotel and the holiday through Crystal ski, as a package deal, and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel itself is lovely, all the employees from the front desk to the housekeeping team and the buffet team were superb and friendly. Whenever we had a question about anything they were there to help. I’m not sure as to what the other reviews regarding this hotel were on about because this place is delightful, I was tempted not to book this hotel because of the reviews but I did so anyway, and it was so worth it. Me and my partner had a quad room, which was great as we had extra space and was cheaper than just a twin room. The room itself had a personal sauna in the bathroom, a decent tv, refrigerator, a very generous storage amount and nice laminated flooring so wasn’t freezing every morning, including the black out curtains. The room had a perfect temperature at all times, not too hot and not too cold. The bathroom itself is a wet room with a nice powerful shower. Although the room may have an ‘old’ style to it, this added to the amazing experience as you’re in Lapland! Not a Marriott! The rooms were cleaned beautifully by the housekeeping team everyday at around midday, but didn’t bother us as we were out early! And the view from our window was amazing! We went half board, so every morning there was a very nice breakfast, including waffles, cereals, homemade oatmeal and hot food, although it was the same options every day, it was very nice. Dinner time was also a help yourself buffet and the options were different every evening, and there hasn’t been a dinner that I haven’t enjoyed. So many different foods to try and also Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free etc section, so caters for all needs. The restaurant itself is lovely as seen in the photos below. I feel all other reviews and the website alone has awful photos and doesn’t advertise itself very well so hopefully this review can help you decide to go with this hotel. In terms of the area, it’s lovely, not near a main road, a 5 minute walk to the supermarket which has a pharmacy inside. There are activity shops left and right as you walk around the area so make sure you find the cheapest prices before you choose what activities to do. Back to the hotel, the beds in the rooms were super comfy, I’d even say better than premier inn, after skiing all day to be able to relax in the sauna and then lay in the bed was amazing, it was difficult to get out of bed every morning! Although the hotel isn’t at the bottom of the slope like some others, you can get a free (free with Crystal) ski bus that stops right outside the hotel doors every 30 minutes and takes about 7 minutes to get to the slopes. Although there is no swimming pool in the hotel, guests of the Yllaskaltio (Snow Princess) hotel are able to use the pool at Akashotelli (Snow elf) which is just a 10 minute walk down the road, and it’s a beautiful walk. The lobby in the hotel was lovely itself, had nice seats, fire place, as well as a gift shop. There was ski gear storage and there is also washing machines free to use. All in all, it was a fantastic holiday and was made even better by this absolutely wonderful hotel, we even saw the Aurora (Northern Lights) the first night we stayed! The other reviews on this hotel don’t paint a good enough picture of the experience you can have here.…
We stayed at the hotel via tui (called snow princess). The only down side is that the rooms were a bit tired but they were immaculately clean. There is a lovely atmosphere at the hotel and the restaurant has a lovely snowy view We found the food to be great. Always a meat, fish and veggie option and soup. None of us went hungry. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
We stayed in this hotel for two nights. The private sauna was excellent. The room was ok but should be renovated. Overall impression was good. What I would change is the fact that everything is covered from snow and I almost crashed the car in some obstacle in front of the hotel entrance. The management should highlight protruding objects to avoid misfortunes on their guests.
Went her over Christmas (it’s called snow princess with Tui) 8 family members in total from 13-87 years and can’t fault hotel really. Food was good hearty food breakfast lots of granola combos traditional English breakfast as well as cereals toast and limited cakes and pastries. Lunch and dinner were decent enough for all 8 of us from curry’s to salad chicken nuggets and chips or fantastic trout and new potatoes. Always a couple of puddings and endless tea and coffee. Drinks are pricy 9 euros a beer but that’s par for the course in Finland. Rooms decent practical we stayed in Duplex rooms with mezzanine floor with extremely steep stairs for kids. Our rooms had a shower and sauna. Beds basic but good enough and plenty of storage. Outside plenty of free sledges and fresh snow to do as you please and regular buses to take you up the road to better sledge runs or skiing if you require. We stayed 4 nights and had an amazing time at this hotel even caught the northern lights. Having said that Tui service and organisation was poor for many reasons. 1. Found out by chance about a trip out to another hotel for dinner as our rep wasn’t texting me to tell us about organises excursions because I hadn’t updated my details on Tui booking adding my mobile number but as I booked via Sant Claus trips I was unaware of this and the rep didint check. In all honesty food was terrible there so we got a taxi back. Upon our return explained this to our rep who informed us that a private function was going on so we couldn’t get any food at our hotel. If we’d of been told this we’d of eaten at a local restaurant as it happens he sorted out a table for us thankfully which other than the very scornful stares from the other attending Tui reps we enjoyed. 2. A very hard sell from airport to hotel for extra excursions almost relentlessly telling us they run out lots more people coming in later that day don’t delay etc etc. we did do the huskies excursions and it was amazing and pricy £150 per person hard sell wasn’t needed. 3. The gala dinner was a bit of a free for all nothing Tui could really do about that but felt a bit haphazardly organises 4. I understand travel restrictions etc change very fast and this is not Tui fault but a bit more help obtaining flow tests etc at the last minute would save a lot of stress for their customers Overall an amazing holiday great meteorites good hotel and a wonderful Christmas…
Nice hotel. Fantastic to have a sauna in the room - that was fun. Plenty of sledges too which was a nice bonus. But our heating didn’t work the whole time we were there, we approached reception twice and was given a plug in heater. Also the buffet was below average. Hardly any choice. Perhaps 3 main meal options. Was very hard to feed the kids anything apart from bread and chips. Bar prices also varied a lot even when we were ordering the same drinks
This was by far the BEST holiday we have ever had. From the flight in to the very last second it was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the Tui Elfs are fantastic.... special mention to pepper spice our kids personal fave!!! The hotel isnt modern but i think this added to the charm of lapland, felt very santa'ry (you wouldnt catch santa in a premier in) we loved the food, service and the room. It was everything and more....... already looking at going back again this year and wouldn't even think twice about staying at the same hotel again... home away from home... simply PERFECT 😁😁
Stayed as part of TUI trip for 4 nights. Family room has very steep wooden stairs to upper level. There is a gate at the top but I was still wary when my 9 & 5 year old were going up/down. Bathroom is a wet room so floor can become dangerous. Sauna only fits 2 in. No english speaking TV channels but we could put a memorey stick for films. Food was good, basic but suitable for everyone. Water/tea/coffee avaiable at every meal. Helpful friendly staff. Small gift shop that was quiet cheap compared to the price of drinks (which are very expensive). Big area outside for plAying in the snow. Short walk to the village centre/supermarket. My only critiscm is the lack of room service.
Great hotel In general. Main communal areas lovely however rooms very basic but clean & fine for what we needed. Stayed 3 nights here & the room was lovely & toasty. No room service at all throughout the stay. Perfect location for sledging and short walk into the little village where there is a large supermarket. A stash of sledges right outside the reception door - brilliant fun for our little boy age 7 (& us!) Food not great & quite cool, staff all friendly however. In general all of Finland is expensive so be prepared. Also be prepared for the bizarreness of the limited daylight hours - very weird. The suits provided are absolutely completely necessary. Perfect for the extreme (-27 for us) temperature & kept us lovely and warm but be prepared to hoof yourself in & out of them - raised many a laugh in our room. All in all, a basic hotel, as I read the majority are in this area, however suited our requirements as hardly in there & we only have absolutely amazing phenomenal memories of a magical trip to Lapland to see Santa & experience his true ‘real’ home... Everlasting authentic memories!…
