Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed two nights, food was 6/10. Pints were not keeping head in glass.

Food was savage, and huge portions!

Quick professional service staff

Staff lovely and chatty!

Rooms were in need of a lock of paint. Very cold at night even though radiator was hot 🤷‍♂️

I will return

This is a small country town hotel situated on the main street in Claremorris. When I saw accommodation on the Internet advertised for €35 for a single room I was tempted. It was more or less what I had expected. Naturally for that price it was not going to be opulent and breakfast of course was not included but I had it anyway for an extra €7.50. How can you go wrong?

The room I had was bright, clean and comfortable and had a TV and tea-making facilities. It was of a reasonable size and I had a good night's sleep thanks to the comfortable bed and a quiet environment. And it was adequately heated even in our so-called moderate climate! The only niggle I had was in the bathroom in that the soap which came in a wall-mounted dispenser was hard to manage being so high above the hand basin and which needed some considerable pressure to release.

Breakfast was the big surprise here, and a very pleasant one at that. There was not a buffet in sight and it is the first time in ages that everything was brought to my table, including juice and cereals. Not alone could the breakfast not be faulted but the fry was arguably one of the best I have ever had anywhere. Superb ingredients lightly cooked to perfection. Take a bow Christine in the kitchen, I enjoyed it and it has set me up for the day. Well done!

Wifi is a little on the slow side but quite useable throughout the hotel. The hotel has no lift (elevator) but if you can make your own way up and down then there are plenty of people to help with the luggage. Parking can be a big problem here. The only available parking is on-street and the charge is a steep 60c per hour for such a small Irish country town. I would have stayed the rest of my sojourn in Claremorris at this hotel but the on-street meter-fed parking is a big drawback so I stayed in a hotel in a nearby town which had its own car park. Mayo County Council take note! Some allowances must be made for guests who cannot or who are not inclined to spend their daylight hours feeding parking meters. Change the system please!

Thanks to Christine in the kitchen, I enjoyed it and it set me up for the day.

Music in the bar area was set at a suitably low level and the TV sound was also at a reasonable level. It was not obtrusive and so the bar was a comfortable place to sit and read in the evening.

I would like to visit this hotel again the near future but the parking issue will always be a real problem for people like myself.

Shocking,awful,could go on and on!
And I will,Totals falseifacation reviews by others that have stayed here.
The Bedroom.Room cold, tho heater was on,all the heat going out the gap in the window, bedroom and bathroom. Had to put a towel in front of the Bedroom door to stop draft from bathroom window coming into bedroom. Road noise was awful, as if window was wide open.3am stuck a hand towel in the gap in bedroom window.helped a bit.The roller blinds are a disgrace too.
On to room amenities,Bedside lamp not working, other bedside lamp was so dim, had to use phone light.ceiling light was dim also.
Switch to switch the light off was stuck had to use the main switch by the door.
Bedside locker door wouldn’t close.Pillows on the bed were flat,
Bathroom now,Bath was not clean, as there was pubic hair in bath, yuk!say no more there.
Food, had dinner in bar, only 4 others eating there, that should’ve been a warning sign.Had a Luke warm dinner, hadn’t the heart to say anything to the lvly mid age waitress,I know she only served it, i can’t even start to explain the sauce I was given for my boiled ham, literally was flour and water no doubt about it.
Breakfast time, didn’t dare try it,walked straight out the door, wouldn’t go near the place again. There are so many good hotels, there is no excuse to run such an awful establishment and expect people to pay for such awful room, shame on you.

I often stay in Claremorris. This was the first time I stayed in The Dalton Inn. I booked in (Vaccine proofed) thought before I met up with friends, I´d eat. Great call. I asked for a “Beef dinner & a pint”, chancing my luck to a passing staff member. If my Grandmother and mother has the internet in heaven may they look away now....10/10. It was carvery +, unbeknownst to me I was probably supposed to go pick my own dinner, a full carvery on display.. Customer service & VfM 10/10.

In the last few months we have stopped twice in the Dalton in for a meal. As a family of 2 adults and 2 children it has a great menu. The food is delicious and piping hot. The staff are very friendly and attentive, great overall service. Will definitely be back when passing through again

Honestly pay the money and stay somewhere or stay at home. Couldn’t recommend it even though we only passing through. We had breakfast the next morning and ordered the full Irish. When it came out it looked like it was lifted from deep fat fryer. Just turned my stomach a and ended up eating nothing.

I hadn't been for a few years due to personal circumstances but I really enjoyed my stay. The owners are friendly and the food was very nice. The prices are reasonable for Ireland. I am looking forward to returning soon. The hotel is ideally located for visiting other areas around Mayo.
