We stayed here because Galbally was my father's home town and we wanted to experience the place . Thomond House is centrally located in the picturesque village. The surrounding countryside is quite spectacular. The rooms clean and comfortable and parking right outside the door. But the standout feature is really the lovely hosts -Steve and Geraldine-who were very welcoming.and kind. We had a lovely afternoon tea on arriving and the breakfasts were-without doubt-the best we experienced in our whole trip.A great stay-totally recommend !
The hosts are the best. The rooms are within a large family home converted to B&B. Comfortable beds. Very helpful and knowledgeable owners. The breakfasts were simply the best we had in Ireland. A downside is that Galbally is small with limited services, e.g., a small grocery. There are restaurants in Tipperary (15 minutes) or a few within 10 minutes in nearby towns/resorts. We chose the Aherlow House with a resort-like atmosphere about 10 minutes away. Interesting area with lots of hiking/walking possibilities.
My husband chose this place and he scored a home run when he chose this place the Couple were incredibly hospitable and the breakfast was amazing. Steve and Geraldine were helpful with places to eat, giving directions and helping us find the relatives. The rooms were comfortable and exactly what we needed. If you have the opportunity to stay, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Steve and Geraldine.
Steve & Geraldine were very welcoming and did everything to accommodate our needs during a visit to attend a family funeral. Excellent choices and quality of breakfasts and our hosts provided us with coffee, cookies and their cheerful company after we returned from the funeral. Lovely comfy rooms with good facilities. We would love to visit again and stay for longer and we would highly recommend this very homely B&B.
My boyfriend and I stayed in Thomond House for one night in June 2016. I was competing in an equestrian event in the area. On arrival we were welcomed by our hosts who showed us to a very nice double bedroom. The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. We found Steve and Geraldine friendly, helpful and very accommodating. They were willing to provide parking for my horsebox, which wasn't needed in the end but we greatly appreciated the offer! We were offered great advice on the best places to eat locally and the most scenic routes to take. The next morning we received a lovely home cooked breakfast and some delicious homemade oat cookies to take with us. If we're ever in the area we would definitely stay here again.
a very good welcome in this unassuming pretty village.perfectly good rooms and bathrooms, clean and tidy and tastefully done. an excellent breakfast from the very good hosts. excellent value.recommended.
Toured Ireland in mid June 2016 with daughter and son-in-law. This was one of the most relaxing and comfortable places we stayed. The innkeepers are wonderful. You felt like you were with family, the kind you want to keep going home to. We were "looking for our people" and maybe we found them here! The cows across the road are a good touch! Very clean and uncluttered; breakfast was delicious - although we only had time for scones, yogurt and coffee because of our flight out of Shannon. Would definitely visit here again.
