Pre-booking email responses were within hours and the transfers we booked via the hotel/Gili Getaway went like clockwork. We had booked a beach front Kecil and on arrival were shown that as well as the one bedroom villa which we could take as a free upgrade. We took the latter, though both were amazing with their own different "personalities", key distiction being that the villas are incredibly private, though the beachfront rooms benefit from the sea breeze. The villas have separate entrances for guests (into the decking/pool area) and for staff (to the rear of the dining/kitchen area). The whole hotel is impeccably clean and gardens tended. We didnt have any issues with mozzies and found three types of lizard (one being the geckos), which are probably contributing to keeping the mosquitoes down!! The breakfasts were lovely, the bread being freshly baked and the coffee was some of the best I have tasted. Plenty of choice including vegetarian and vegan options. It was "out of season" when we were there, with plenty of chairs around the pool and options to sit in the shade on benches and wicker "basket" snuggle chairs facing the ocean. It would be impossible to become dehydrated at Ko Ko Mo - staff bring you a glass of water when you arrive at the main pool, when you come back from a trip and, in our case, when returning from a pre-breakfast snorkel off the jetty (which was pretty good!) We borrowed kayaks a couple of times and collected plastic from the ocean - unfortunately we made little difference but what we did collect was whisked away by the staff for proper disposal (they already clean the beach in front of the hotel). The Ko Ko Mo site of the island doesnt suffer too badly compared with the other side. The local people are naturally friendly and, as there are no stalls etc catering to tourists, there is absolutely no "pestering", which you might find on busier islands. Adults and children follow the path which runs through the hotel to attend school and/or mosque and invariably greeted us with a smile and a hello. There is very little to "do" on Gili Gede, though I imagine that will change. There are paths to follow between the villages, though it is easy to get lost (take GPS!) and some are not reasonably passable when the tide is high so difficult to find any of the other restaurants listed on TA. The dinner menu at the hotel is extensive and the food outstanding, with prices similar to what I would pay in the UK for a good value meal out. We took a (very good value) boat out to Gili Layar on a couple of occasions, which was difficult as I am not a confident snorkeller - for me it was almost as good off the jetty or we found a good reef beyond the village to the right and out a fair way from the rocks (it is shallow so you can walk most of it) I could say more (all positive) but this is getting rather long! Happy to answer any questions. All in all a very relaxing holiday and probably the best service/staff I have ever experienced.…
Gili Gede was amazing and so was Ko Ko Mo Resort. Excellent room with excellent services. People was very very nice. Having dinner or breakfast by the beach was just breathtaking. Food was also delicious. Snorkeling just in front of the hotel was such an experience, full of colorful coral and blue starfishes. Best stop in Indonesia!
Loved it! Family of 4 with two teenagers staying in a 2br pool Villa. kids loved the food, the friendly & efficient staff, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling (both off the pier and the trips to nearby gilis), eco-friendly touches, and having a nice pool by the room. Parents liked all of this, the quiet, serene setting (shady spots with nice breeze by the water), and all the extra touches that they have thought of (meeting you with glass w of ice water after an activity). There is a lot of hidden value in their rates (no charge kayaks, paddle boards, water cooler in the room & the snorkeling trips were very reasonable).
The moment Pak Raka, the driver, met us at the airport and gave us fresh towels and cold drinks, we knew this was going to be exactly what we needed. The car that took us to the boat was very comfortable, and after a short boat ride, we were greeted by Pak Dedi and his team at the jetty. Everyone was warm and professional. Pak Gusta who checked us in offered us the private villa to ensure that we get the privacy and solitude we wanted. We loved the beautifully designed villa and the private pool. Everything was immaculate, and the staff's attention to detail and ability to anticipate our needs was impressive. We appreciate Pak Tibi's kind attention to us as well. We stayed for 4 nights, and it felt like time stood still. It was so peaceful there. And everything we ate was wonderful, especially the freshly prepared delicious breakfast which we look forward to every morning. We also enjoyed the homemade bread there! We rode bikes provided by the resort to explore the island, and played tennis in the evenings. One early morning, we took a boat to the other gilis nearby to go fishing and snorkeling, and it was unforgettable! Pak Tohir and Pak Toni, our boat captain and guide, were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. Upon returning to the resort, the hotel chef Pak Putu and his team prepared a delicious spread with our "catch of the day" as the star ingredient, using traditional Lombok spices. Since my husband's family spent many years in Lombok, the authentic preparation of the dishes was amazing! Under Pak Wayan's leadership as the Manager of the resort, this place is very special. It's small and intimate, yet grand in its ambitions to care for the environment on the island, and maintain a sustainable approach by growing their own herbs and vegetables using creative irrigation systems. We can tell that this place is a labor of love for its owners. During the last evening there, we were entertained by the release of a Sky Lantern that the restaurant staff helped organize. And as the lantern floated away into the starry darkness above, we knew that we will be back! Thank you to the entire staff for such a memorable trip! And keep up the good work!…
After a hectic 6 days in Seminyak and Kuta, my girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere a little more “off the beaten track” to experience a real change of pace. A little bit of research led us to the “secret Gili” island of Gili Gede (like g’day!) and the fabulous Kokomo resort! Right from the first second off the boat (can recommend only Gili Getaway for a quick, safe, efficient service) we were warmly met by Wayan (Manager) and Atning. From then on were treated to some amazing hospitality by the whole team but especially Tohri (Assistant Manager) and Syatibi for whom nothing seemed to much trouble! All the Villas at Kokomo are to a very high specification and the vast majority of them have pools as standard. Relaxing away from the madness is obviously the main priority here (can highly recommend massages at the spa!) but if you want to get out and about then you can borrow kayaks or paddle boards from the hotel (free of charge) or organise an island hopping, snorkelling and picnic trip on one of the hotel boats. We had a fantastic trip out led by our awesome guide, Tony, saw some amazing fish and a sea turtle then a lovely picnic on one of the many uninhabited islands around Gili Gede. All in all we wish would could have stayed a lot longer, idyllic is not too strong a word for Kokomo and Gili Gede. Thanks for a great stay!…
We will definitely be coming back to the friendly little paradise that is Kokomo. From the manager Wayan down to every last staff member, a genuine smile and warm, attentive service. The villas with a private pool are definitely worth the extra cost, as is the snorkelling trip (thanks Tony) and the massages. Very good food as well, try the homegrown salads and vegetables. Also, the best hotel breakfast I have had in a while. All in all, splendid! Special thanks to Syatibi for all your help.
We stayed for 4 nights at Kokomo Gili Gede and couldn't have had a better stay. The villa was perfect with its own pool. We played tennis every night as the sun went down and enjoyed great meals at the restaurant as well as a snorkeling trip organised by the resort where we saw turtles! By far the best thing about Kokomo was the staff, absolutely everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly especially Syatibi in the restaurant and Wayan the manager. They could not do enough to make your stay perfect. Thank you guys!
We stayed three nights at Ko Ko Mo, Gili Gede, in September. Everything from arriving to check out was perfect. Such a warm welcome by the kind staff. We had our welcome drink and lunch in the restaurant with amazing water views. The food is beyond amazing and the breakfast is the best we’ve experienced at a resort. The rooms are stunning and provides everything you need. Wayan, the hotel manager, has done such a great job in putting this team together, they really are a five star group of people. A special mention to Tibi who definetely made our stay memorable! Highly recommended. Thank you for having us!
Spectacular location right on the water. We had a private Villa with an infinity pool. Large, comfortable and beautiful garden-like surroundings. The staff was the best we have ever encountered in our many travels. The word "no" is not in their vocabulary. The food was amazing. Snorkeled the area...excellent! Truly a slice of heaven on earth. We would definitely go back!
If I could give them a 1000 stars, I would. Wow! Kokomo and Gede are these kind of places you grow fond of. It's so rare to find a place that is still unspoilt and not ruined by mass tourism. The bedrooms and villas are stunning at KO KO MO but what I will remember the most are the people. My boyfriend had the Bali belly and they took care of him, asked how he was from dusk till dawn. These smiles all day long, Atning, Tohri, the other restaurant manager, Wayan, the "Londoner" 😉all the restaurant crew and room service crew I will never forget you. Big up to the chef who kept me thinking of my next meal every day as it was so delicious. And that day out with Jo snorkeling was paradise. Merci 🙏🙏🙏. A thousand thank yous, you are incredible. Lots of love from FX and Anne.
