We were transported back to a bygone time with this beautiful property which has been in the family for 3 generations. The bedrooms were tastefully decorated in original furniture and although no mod cons everything worked efficiently. The hostess was friendly, helpful and informative and the breakfast served in the magnificent dining room was delightful.

The house is situated in beautiful gardens with views over a dam towards the mountains. The room was spacious and comfortable and the barjroom clean and quirky. The host was welcoming and knowledgable. Aliwal North has a few choices for dinner. We aye at the Riverside Pub & Grill overlooking the Orange River.

The guest house needs some serious tlc, inside and out. Bathroom was horrible, looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a while. Room lighting was poor, perfect scene for a horror movie. Sheets were stained. Cupboards were filled with clothes (not mine). Walls are thin you could hear conversations from the next room. Had a very uncomfortable night. For the...

We stopped in Aliwal North enroute to Tiffendell and found this gem just outside the hustle and bustle of town. So tranquil. Beautiful setting, great bird watching, horses, ducks, dogs. A great child-friendly environment. A delicious hot breakfast included. My favorite part of this journey was meeting and speaking to the hosts. Such a deep rooted history which you can...

It's a gem if you are interested in historical buildings. Don't be put off by the first impression as you drive in. It really does get better and better. Kids loved the farm and walk to the Orange river. Bruce and Anthony were lovely hosts.

It's a bit odd - part someone's home, part castle-like, part antique. The rooms were comfortable and clean. No option of dinner and the breakfast was good. Pleasant garden to relax in. The house is not exactly soundproof and dogs barking and cats yelling in the night need to be put up with. And they don't have a credit card...

As we approached Conville Farm B&B on a rough rainy day coming of a muddy dirt road the first impression driving through the entrance gate was: "where on earth did we land here?". The castle like building in the rain seemed like a shabby, run-down farm house from another century. Yet, the surprising effect hit us wholeheartedly, as we parked...

Spent one night on our way to Hogsback. Very comfortable room and beds. Lovely going to sleep with the bull frogs cloaking. Beautiful setting and great family history. Host's were welcoming and the scrambled eggs with breakfast were very good.

The stay at Conville was a blast from the past. There's not a lot of houses in South Africa that has been in the same family for longer than a 100 years. The setting and views from the B&B are absolutely stunning! The service was super friendly with Linda waiting for us till 22:30 after making a 22:00 booking. The...
