What a friendly welcome after a long, tiring day walking the St Cuthbert's Way.....tea and scones and a smile. And our own lounge to spread out in. The mattress was comfortable and Don's breakfast was super. The shower room / toilet was compact ....being on the large side I had difficulty closing the door and bending to pick up was... More

We arrived absolutely soaking wet after battling driving rain all day on St Cuthberts way. Our hosts managed all our wet things and seemingly miraculously got them dry in a short time! We were shown our bedroom, and sitting room, and a tray of afternoon tea. It couldn't have been more welcome or appreciated. Breakfast the next morning was also... More

Although our stay was very brief, we would like to thank the owners - Margaret and Don - for their hospitality and for a great experience. We loved our spacious room and the comfortable bed, the views over Northumberland, the very warm welcome, the reception from the two of them like we were already great friends :) The breakfast -... Sorry for delay but only just mastered Trip,Advisor! It is two years since we visited this Band B. One of the best we have ever come across. Luxury accommodation. Large comfortable bedroom and en-suite and a delightful PRIVATE sitting room. Tea and home-made cakes served every day. Breakfasts, home-made bread and first class varied menues. Little homely and welcome touches... More

2 days wasn't long enough! Its more than a B&B. Don & Margaret are the perfect hosts. They provide their guests with luxury accommodation - en suite bedrooms and private sitting rooms. This beautiful residence is in the perfect location for exploring the Northumberland countryside. We had a warm welcome on our arrival with home made sandwiches, cake and tea/coffee.... More

We stayed in Burn House for one night while walking St Cuthbert's Way . The previous night we had a terrible experience with our accommodation, so to arrive after a long day's walk to Don and Margaret's welcome was a big relief. It started with tea and home-made cake in the private sitting room, progressed to sharing our common interests... More

We arrived at Burn House on a wet afternoon to be met with smiles, a private lounge and tea and cake. This was the start of 5 days of comfort. The bedroom was large and so quiet with lovely views over the garden. Margaret & Don were very attentive, always ready with refreshments when we arrived home. The local Black... More

We spent three nights with Margaret and Don in July - a truly excellent experience. They were friendly, solicitous and informative, without being in any way fussy. Don presides over the breakfasts which are made to order and delicious. Ask him how he makes his poached eggs! Don't pass on the inclusive afternoon tea or late evening supper - Margaret's... More

Be careful if you stay at Burn House - it's so good you won't want to try anywhere else. From the minute you arrive to when you reluctantly leave, you feel like you've staying with friends rather than in a guest house. Margaret and Don certainly are naturals at making you feel welcome and at home. Greeted with home made... More

Just back from 3 nights at Burn House where the hospitality was second to none. Don and Margaret provided a very friendly and informal welcome; tea and cake in abundance! The ensuite room was very roomy and comfortable and the bonus of a personal lounge was a big treat. Breakfast - wow! It certainly set us up for the day.... More
