I must warn you, the owner of the property (Laura Zamora Campos) stole $285 from my wife and I. I've included proof below in screenshots of the conversations between us. We wanted to hike up Chirripo and Laura was initially very helpful in trying to get us the park permits. We gave her $285 to do this, with the agreement that if she could not get them she would give us the money back. It wasn't possible to get permits for the dates we wanted and despite repeated requests from us and promises of a refund we never got the money back (see screenshots attached). It's such a shame- at travelled Costa Rica for ten weeks and most other locals were so helpful and honest, so please don't let this put you off a trip out here; just avoid Laura and her hotel!
Amazing location if you wanna climb the Chirripó, amazing place if you wanna relax! The owner is very friendly and cook great meals. Rooms are massive and bright with ensuite bathroom, the place is super clean.
I stayed 3 nights in a private room with a double bed and bathroom inside (20 $ per night) : a bargain for solo traveler ! The room was big with huge ceiling, very comfy bed, very clean, good blanket and good hot water in the shower. Excellent wifi. The lady owner prepares a hearty breakfast (5 $) and good dinner (6 $) upon request and at any time chosen by the guests. Big common space and huge terrace. Nice family atmosphere at dinner time when guests are eating together. I was so pleased that the lady took my booking over the phone and that she trusted me. The last morning, when I was leaving, she was so kind to take me down by car to the bus stop 500 meters away. I didn't climb Chirripó but walked the loop in the beautiful Cloudbridge Reserve (4 hours), where I could spot a wild pig, a quetzal, a toucan and a snake. The second day I went to the powerful waterfall in Herradura, 1,5 hour away.…
I have been to Mis Ojos many times. Laura the owner and host is friendly, funny, charming, and an amazing cook. You can feel the love and care she puts into the place. The beds are comfy, the view is magical, the air and the trees with the sound of the river so refreshing. It is an incredible value and Laura is there to help with any and all of your needs. I can't recommend this place enough. Its a fun place to meet other travelers and also to feel like home away from home.
I have been twice now at Mis Ojos and I love it! The place is so peaceful overlooking the river with a huge terrace. The rooms are rustic made out of wood, clean and cosy. The best is Lauras cooking...sooo delicious!!! You can hike from the cabins to Cloudforest reserve or the entrance of Chirripo. I can highly recommend Cabana Mis Ojos and Laura is a perfect host.
