This is one of the most relaxing out of the way places to stay with the most remarkable hard working hostess, Cecilia, who will advise, welcome you and do whatever she can to ensure you have a great stay. Cecilia prepared us the most wonderful breakfasts everyday and we enjoyed the fabulous views of the coast and pool from the terrace. The resident goat kept us amused and brought a lovely rural feel to the property. We stayed for 2 weeks, the beds are very comfortable, the road to the property a little bumpy so we hired a jeep. Cecilia’s homemade sough dough is delicious. We ate in a couple of times when Cecilia cooked a delicious chicken, coconut and lime dish with rice and some of her famous fermented vegetables, all very tasty. Would highly recommend eating in. English Harbour is 15 mins away where the biggest selection of eateries are but the quiet seclusion of Blue Bay is very special.…

Cecelia is a fantastic host and was there at the airport for our transfer on our arrival. at the airport as arranged The Blue Bay is between a B&B and a home and I think this what Cecelia aims for. It is an eco lodge so don’t expect the Sandals 5* experience but if you stay here then you will go home feeling that you have had a richer experience. It is secluded but prior to our stay we asked if Cecelia could give us dinner. It was delicious and plentiful, as was breakfast. The sourdough homemade bread was amazing and I was lucky that Cecelia wanted to share her sourdough starter. The scenery is amazing and we enjoyed the pool. We were booked for an overnight stay before a cruise but would stay again for a few days longer next time. I liked the Italian theme Cecelia brings to the island and she cannot be more helpful. This place is perfect. If you are looking for a comfortable room in a spacious privat Bungalow situated remotely and peacefully on top of a peninsula overlooking a quiet bay, if you like flowers and trees and animals, if you care for environment, if you like a landlady who is in touch with the local community, bakes bread, makes jam and cooks for you and knows all the nice places and things to do and takes care for everything you need, then this is perfect. We loved it. If you would rather like lots of people and shops and your chair and umbrella and motorboat on the beach in front of the posh hotel and all the food imported, go to Sandals.

Antigua is a gem, the small village where BlueBay is located is super quiet n perfect for chilled good times. The view on the bay is breathtaking, perfect if you like to feel like you're the queen of the island! The villa is magic, the room well lit, clean, cosy, comfy and well provided with all that's necessary, with a special plus due to the host's artistic n ecofriendly touch. I was welcomed warmly and followed in my every need by Cecilia, super cheerful, kind and respectful. I was impressed by her cooking skills (i miss you gnocchi and gazpacho!!!) considering she's always available, a true house ruler who takes care of every aspect, with utmost care. Lucky to have found this magic spot and her lovely owner! Definitely gonna be back in the future!

Incredibly disappointing one night stay in the classic room. I was supposed to stay 4 nights but left after one sleepless night in a musty stained old uncomfortable bed with flat smelly stinky pillows. Although I checked out before 11am as a courtesy not only would Cecila not refund some money but tried to charge me for a 3rd night. She didn't even get the coffee cream she promised me and tried to charge 2.50 for mediocre coffee with no cream. Toast is 8 bucks after paying a lot to stay there in the first place. She gave me the wrong keys upon arrival and there is not even a bath mat outside the shower. The room was worth 70 a night...maybe. I should have trusted my gut instinct that something was wrong as there is no secure way to pay a deposit she takes the CC over the phone and doesn't even send a proper written confirmation. I had wanted to book through her AirBnb listing so it would be secure but she says she just lists there but you can't book that way. Was so very fortunate to be able return to my accommodations that I had been staying at before my trip to Blue Bay. When I complained she said every other guest has been very happy but I said I had seen some other bad reviews, she told me she doesn't respond to those. Buyer beware. Easily the worst place I've ever stayed. Really disappointed. Cecilia seems to mean well but is not equipped to run the place properly. My suggestion is to upgrade or cut rental prices in half. I have stayed at many very basic bnb accommodations that were far superior for half the price. There were other problems but I've said enough!…

Dear Angela, I only have love to give... and my face and facts, because I have nothing to hide. I definitely don't give up in front of people making things up to get special treatments, injustice must be told, even if it's THIS stupid... I will use this space to reach as many future guests as possible in order to let them know that a few bad experiences won't make me bitter or bend my enthusiasm, I'll keep on giving 100% and be the honest, cheerful person you can read about in other reviews.… And yes, reading reviews is fun and can be used to choose your next accomodation, but to actually choose REMEMBER to READ DETAILS PROPERLY and don’t be afraid to ASK, so you won't end up like Angela (“too expensive” to rent a car or book a taxi and unable to walk to the nearest facilities). Apparently she didn't know anything about the Cancellation Conditions she agreed to (Please Angela check the email I sent you on the 24th of April 2019 - Cancellation Conditions are written in bold, the second thing i ALWAYS write, straight after rates, in order to avoid situations like this). Blue Bay Antigua is secluded and it is part of its beauty, you'll need to be up for a nice walk or, even better, if you plan to see the island in general you need to rent a vehicle or book an excursion, everywhere you are in Antigua... yet I had plenty guests who stayed in the Villa without a car and went home as happy as babies, relaxed and renewed... everyone is different, either you know your needs or you don’t, but you can't "guess" that a place will be like you want and then change idea and make up stories... I always ask for a deposit to ensure the booking, IF YOU CHOSE TO BOOK DIRECTLY you can give me a cc number / make a transfer / decide to pay through paypal (so yes, i give a secure way of paying). FEEL FREE to book through BOOKING or EXPEDIA (Hotels.com and so on), so my Partners can back me up with cancellation conditions. You are definitely right about AIRBNB, it is the Partner I get less requests from, therefore I use it mostly for people to find Blue Bay Antigua. Another thing that is really important is about my HOMEMADE SOURDOUGH BREAD: yes of course it costs more than the white industrial bread that you can find in most places. I proudly serve as much homemade healthy food as possible, my marmalade is made with fresh fruit that i try to get as locally as possible. In Antigua is not so easy to find healthy food but if you’re looking for cheap junk food you can find it in every supermarket and I won't judge, everybody is free to make their choices (people can use the kitchen for lunch and dinner / chose the rate without breakfast: feel at home!). In general, ANTIGUA IS NOT A CHEAP ISLAND and this is an information easy to find. It's like going to Norway (one of the most expensive countries in the world) and be surprised... you can adjust of course, but be prepared. My prices are fair for the offer and I go way over my duties to fulfill people's needs, it is a pleasure for me. If I just knew that you were feeling uncomfortable for any reason I would have done everything in my possibilities to help you feeling better, you know that, but somehow you burst out with all these problems as i reminded you the conditions of your booking, which i've been super clear about straight form the start. I really mean to avoid any incomprehension: this is a place for good times, people can speak to me, I'm somehow always around, I genuinely want everybody to be happy. ...What to say, the etiquette says to reply in a super formal way to reviews but when it's too much it's too much, you’re probably already back home minding your business while i'm here facing hell and public shame for a few dollars, I really don’t think this is fair… but I like to learn from every situation, and I must say THANK YOU FOR PUSHING ME TO THIS POINT: you gave me the strength to do a big coming out and talk about this problem we have in my business. You pushed me to speak up openly about this situation through Blue Bay Antigua’s socials and I got so many lovely replies that filled me up with joy and energy to face the season that is coming... I'm also super sure that someone with brains is reading right now and will chose Blue Bay knowing that I'm a fighter and I won't let them down... of course i cried a lot for this but grudge is not for me: peace! YES, I DON’T USUALLY REPLY TO REVIEWS, i'm not the review type of person in general... "Year 2020, planet Earth, I'm talking about me and you, Angela: we’re priviledge, we had and have access to the best education, we have all the possibilities in the world and we spend our time like this…." I feel like my generation must be the change in order for this world to survive, we really need to change perspective and put REAL priorities in place. Everyone doing our small part, being responsible. I’m addressing my goals: under my hand Blue Bay Antigua turned into an ECO Bed and Breakfast, and in order to be true to myself and my guests, it is more important to me to do a trip to the dump, commit to the community, cook from scratch or go chasing sustainable ingredients… but this applies to me of course, everybody does its part in its own way, EVERYONE IS FREE TO MAKE THEIR CHOICES and Blue Bay Antigua is a place where people come looking for a relaxing time: THIS WILL ALWAYS BE MY TOP PRIORITY, MAKING MY GUESTS HAPPY - but I will not make discounts if someone makes up things and threatens to put crazy reviews online!!!!!! ;) with love, your -always extremely cheerful and full of hope for humanity and our planet - Cecilia P.S.
