My husbands & father in laws birthday meal. Absolutely beautiful food, it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The service was wonderful. They catered for 20 of us and we had a room to Ourselves so the children could just enjoy being kids too without worrying about the noise and disturbing others. The pre order was spot on and also the planning of the occasion was excellent with emails ensuring everything was perfect before we went. Honestly I would highly recommend this place and we can’t wait to visit again. I’d go as far as saying it’s the best fillet steak we have ever had. Staff couldn’t do enough. Brilliant they got everything spot on!
Great beer, great company, great venue. Unfortunately I was only staying for one night as I was on business nevertheless I had an amazing steak dinner with a couple of local ales, the lady behind the bar recommended the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that was also lush. I got chatting to a couple of fellas in the bar, turns out they were the owners. Absolute smashing blokes who gave me a tour of the hotels grounds, where I met their pet donkey, and told me about how they renovated the hotel and it's history. They kept me company and we had a couple of drinks together. Great conversationalists! The room was really tastefully furnished, the shower was hot & powerful the bed was also really comfortable. During the evening I mention that I was going to miss breakfast as I was going to be leaving really early in the Morning, so Henry woke up earlier and personally made me a gorgeous bacon sandwich. Going above and beyond in all departments. Thank you very much for having me.…
Have just enjoyed another, unforgettable, stay at this beautiful hotel. As expected, food accommodation and service all top drawer! The hotel and its surroundings most aesthetically pleasing and nothing too much trouble for the staff. They were professional, courteous and warm. Will definitely be booking again, in near future.
Stayed one night with my teenage son. Lots of character in the buildings, staff were lovely, breakfast was good. The room was amazing, will definitely be returning to this cosy and characterful hotel.
Went too a Wedding, wedding was amazing and outside area was beautiful! But the rooms and upstairs was gross!!! Rooms really unclean and smelt really strong. Everything was really dusty & all the Carpet ripped! A lot of money for a dirty room!
I don’t really know where to start! The Hundred House was where we had our wedding, and choosing this venue was the best decision we made. It is a gorgeous venue with everything you could possibly need for a wedding, complete with the most helpful, caring and efficient staff. It caters for a large number of people while not losing its intimate feel. This is somewhere you can have your whole day, service, canapés, garden games, wedding breakfast, and then the party, and it works well whether you have a small intimate group or a large wedding (like ours). The food was brilliant (all dietaries catered for without any hassle) and the evening was perfect with a dance floor and party room (with bar) that is suitable for any numbers. We were able to personalise our day in any way we liked, for example we had a bucking broncho, garden games and sparklers, and the garden is perfect for wedding photos, looking beautiful all year round. They have a brilliant marquee area around the back of the hotel which is really big, with a fully stocked bar, if you get unlucky with the weather, and this is a great safety net to take away the worries of any hurdles the British weather could throw at you You can see just from looking at pictures of the venue how beautiful and characterful it is, what that doesn’t show you is how fantastic the team are. The catering team are fantastic and we’ve heard from so many guests how great the food was, and the wedding planner (gem) was just fantastic, taking care of everything so we didn’t have to worry about a thing (I could (and have!) gone on alot about how great Gem was and how she helped us but that would require a separate review, all prospective newly weds need to know is that gem and the team do their upmost to ensure your day is perfect, and they are excellent at that task! Basically if you’re looking at wedding venue reviews there is only one thing you need to know, stop wasting time and choose the hundred house, it will be the best decision you make.…
The food, the rooms, the wedding planner, the decoration and the service was all amazing. We had a carribean menu, and they spent the week practicing my carribean mother and grandmother took food home. They put in the work. They handled issues, moved guests along, my best men had nothing to handle they were so efficient. The rooms were astounding. The only downside is we didn't have time to use the giant bathtub they had. TBH, this is an amazing venue, with amazing food, and amazing staff. Will send out wedding photos to their Instagram when they arrive if they let us!
Visited this afternoon (Saturday 23rd) for lunch didn’t book no problems with getting a table just had main courses one blade of beef and one sea bass it was very nice. Lovely place as the name suggests it’s old so a great pub atmosphere in the bar area where we were. It’s not cheap but then for good food worth it will be visiting again will try Sunday lunch next time but will book.
My sister and I have called in for coffee at the One Hundred House Hotel for many years. Our parents brought us here to see the toilets!! It holds a very special place in our hearts so we decided to stay for my sister’s 65th Birthday. It is in a great position for our journey to see family in North Wales. We were not disappointed, it is so special and the room we shared was amazing. The double bed was so high I had to jump in. It was sumptuous and I felt like a princess 👸 . We were surprised and delighted to have a swing in the room and sat on it gently. The gardens are delightful and we certainly picked the best time of year for a stroll around. This hotel is a must if you like traditional buildings of history plus a great breakfast expertly cooked freshly. ****
This place is an enigma: the food is always good and the place itself is lovely. However, the 'staff experience' can range from excellent to ambivalent. A recent visit, unfortunately, dropped the attitude a bit lower...passing by with a friend, we saw that the Hundred House looked busy (and one would assume, therefore, open) so we parked up and wandered in behind an older couple. The door to the bar area was open and the car park was full. The older couple seemed to be having some sort of discussion with a lady behind reception, so we went past and into the bar (fully observed as we did so). The bar lights were on, but there was clearly nobody around so I went back to reception to enquire - I could see the older couple departing - of the lady if the bar was open. 'We are closed Monday and Tuesday' was the reply. 'Fair enough' I said but before I'd actually finished, the lady added 'It's on the website'. Well, I've got news for you, lady behind reception: one cannot 'surf the 'net' whilst one is driving and even if one could, it's illegal. How about putting a sign on the door, or even in the bar? Maybe she was having a bad day, but when one is in a public-facing role...a slightly more apologetic interaction would have been better. As it was, the older couple and ourselves found our way to the Apley Kitchen at Apley Farm Shop, just up the road where the service and food was excellent.…
