My family and I have just spent an INCREDIBLE 2 weeks at Mount Cinnamon in Grenada. Cannot rave enough about the fantastic staff and gorgeous villa - not to mention unbeatable position right on Grand Anse. The 3-bedroom villa was very well appointed, housekeeping was exceptional - the children got very use to the good night cookies that were dropped in each night! The breakfast was also to a very high standard, French toast, full English and pancakes a typical favourite on our table - along with the fresh fruit and juice. By far the best part of Mount Cinnamon is the beach cabana which is positioned right on the beach. It really is the perfect spot. We made use of the hobbie cat, small float (used to take our 3 year out to the man made and natural reefs right in front of the hotel - featured a glass bottom viewing hole so he could see all the action - of which there was plenty!), sand toys, beach volley ball net, lawn sports and of course the swimming pool which was great for a sand free activity. The tennis court and gym both looked incredible but we didn't get around to using. A family highlight was the Friday evening bonfire. We had our dinner at the cabana for 6pm and by 7pm the bonfire was being lit. Kids got to toast marshmallows and Sedrick was brilliant at helping them all create yummy s'mores. Location-wise the hotel is walking distance to a large shopping centre, plus an incredible sushi restaurant called Carib Sushi (husband is a sushi addict and says its the best he has had!). Covid-wise we felt very safe and could see the staff had implemented procedures for all - but that didn't impact our enjoyment at all. The only problem we have now is explaining to our children why we can't live at Mount Cinnamon... !! Special mention to Kevin (manager, he really went out of his way to ensure our stay was nothing short of exceptional), Samantha (front desk, so sweet and considerate), Jade and Ashlin (our breakfast serves each morning, always greeting us with smiles and getting good at knowing what we wanted before we ordered!), Sedrick (beach cabana and s’mores master, helped with anything we needed down on the beach), Lincoln (groundsman, our 3-year old adored him as Lincoln interacted with him so nicely and would make a fuss of him) and of course Deslyn and Janice (hard working cooks who did an amazing job with the food every day).

Mount Cinnamon is excellent value for money given the location and the truly exceptional rooms and our previous stay was faultless. The room, the beach cabana, cocktails and service in general were all as good as we had before. As many have said, the view from the new Cinnamon Suites is world class. What worked less well was the room service breakfasts. We consistently ordered something to be ready as early as possible so I could be ready to dive. The breakfast was ordered for 7 and came between 7.20 and 7.55am and once we gave up and walked down. If what we were asking was too hard given staff shift times, they should have said.

Thanks for you review and for returning to us again we really all appreciate it so much. Regarding your experience with breakfast and the timings, we are a boutique resort and always try to be flexible and accommodating with room service for breakfast, which we don’t normally offer to guests as breakfast at the Resturant is an experience not to be missed with the views, interaction with the staff and birds to start your day. We work very close with the dive shop and making sure that you are on time for the dive experience with Phil & Helen. Our breakfast times are 7:30-10:30 am each morning and our chefs are on site from 7am. I totally agree that this should have been communicated with you at the time to avoid this situation. I will ensure that the feedback is given. We look forward to again welcoming you at mount cinnamon. Thanks 🇬🇩❤️🇬🇩

Just back from a 10 day stay at Mount Cinnamon. From the first welcome, carried out by the manager Kevin, right though to the last farewell, was friendly and efficient. Nothing was ever too much, from ordering cabs and trips, recommending local restaurants, right through to organising a Covid 19 test. The site is rather hilly but a series of electric buggies are always on hand to whisk you to you accommodation, or up from the beach bar. The food was excellent and a mixture of European and local. Despite being a party of 10 covering three generation with an age range from 74 down to 6 we all found something to amuse us. Might not be next year but we wil be returning.

We really had no idea what to expect when we chose to visit Grenada---other than excellent COVID prevention. (Grenada has had only 160 cases of COVID19 in total---more on that later.) Our stay at the Mount Cinnamon Resort completely charmed us and persuaded us that Grenada is a destination we should visit regularly. I guarantee that if you stay at the Mount Cinnamon, you will want to return!

Location: The resort is about a 15-minute cab ride from the airport. It is situated on the very beautiful Grand Anse Beach. The property itself is, as it’s name suggests, is on a hilly area. This makes for some stunning views of the sea. However, be aware that there’s a lot of walking and a lot of stairs. Happily, there is golf cart service to take you to and from the main building or to and from the beach if you have mobility issues. The staff responded to request for a ride very quickly and navigated the winding terrain safely. I would not recommend this resort to anyone who is in a wheelchair. There are no accessibility accommodations.

Accommodations: We stayed in the one-bedroom villa, and it was just gorgeous. The villa has two floors---the upper floor is comprised of a kitchen---you can order groceries from the IGA and have them delivered before your arrival--- dining area, living room, full bath and large balcony with a panoramic view of the resort and the sea; the lower floor includes another full bath, dressing area, bedroom with king size 4 poster bed and balcony off the bedroom with the same fantastic view. (The sunlight comes through the bedroom windows early, even with the drapes closed, so you may want to bring a sleep mask if you are a light sleeper.) There is also a washer/dryer in the closet, which was a helpful convenience. The furnishings are modern, bright, cheerful, and accented with tropical style artwork. There are Caswell & Massey toiletries in all the bathrooms. The view from the upper balcony is simply stunning during the day and at night. You look out at the resort, the beach, the water and the land and mountains on the other side of the island. It is a beautiful spot to sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine. Housekeeping and turn-down service were excellent. The villa was kept spotless and we received nightly homemade cookies with turn-down.

Dining: Our plan included breakfast every morning at Savvy’s, the restaurant in the main building. It is open air, and you may see birds flying around the dining area. This full breakfast begins with tropical fruit, fresh baked sweet and savory pastries, and fresh-squeezed local juice. Then, you can choose from a number of options. The two-egg breakfast is a traditional English breakfast with beans, sausage, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Other choices include pancakes, omelets, eggs Benedict, and a breakfast burrito. Every breakfast we had was delicious and the wait staff are very friendly and efficient.

We had dinner at Savvy’s three times and each meal was excellent. The mahi-mahi dishes were unfailingly fresh and flavorful. The goat cheese starter, made with local goat cheese, is a must-have. We also enjoyed the scallops and risotto, though perhaps not as much as the mahi-mahi. Ingredients are fresh and farm-to-table whenever possible. The Chocolate Sensation dessert is downright decadent in its richness. Savvy’s portions are reasonable in size---and I was often full before I finished my meal—but they are not of the Cheesecake Factory type proportions one sees in American restaurants, so if you are the kind of person who likes to eat a huge dinner at the end of the day, you are forewarned. Also, a service charge of 10% is included for each meal, so tipping is optional.

We had several lunches and a dinner at the Beach Cabana. I particularly enjoyed the fish tacos at lunch and my husband said his fish and chips were perfectly cooked. On Friday night, there is a beach bonfire with live music, and you can make S’mores. The bar at the Beach Cabana has a lot of fun cocktails. The staff here were very friendly and flexible. In fact, we asked if we could have our lunch before we left for the airport, and they opened the kitchen 15 minutes early to accommodate us, an extra effort that made our lives much easier.
The Beach: Grand Anse Beach is just beautiful. It’s not rocky or seaweedy, and the waves are mostly gentle. There are lounge chairs and umbrellas as well as a towel station. (I read some other reviews mentioning construction noise on the beach from the project next door, but we were not disturbed by anything and think the builder must be up to interior work.) The walk to the beach is long, but you cross an impeccably landscaped, rolling lawn dotted with colorful foliage that will make you stop walking to appreciate and maybe photograph its beauty. The sun is strong and there are some sand flies, especially near the plants and trees, so I would recommend bringing a high SPF sunscreen and some insect repellant. (Insect repellant is a good idea throughout Grenada.) The beach area also has a volleyball court, water sports, and a scuba center, but we did not use any of these. Tours: Mt. Cinnamon staff arranged for us to have a guided tour with Ashton. He was wonderful. I would definitely recommend touring with Ashton. He took our interests and physical condition into account when planning the itinerary: spice shop---we are avid cooks---, Annadale waterfall---absolutely beautiful and an easy walk---, rain forest with monkeys---Ashton came prepared with sliced bananas and is a veritable monkey whisperer, and Belmont Estate, where we took a separate guided tour. All of these destinations are not to be missed. The spice shop presentation was an educational look at the spices that give Grenada its nickname. Smelling and seeing the freshest samples was fascinating, and we learned some new uses for mace and nutmeg. Meeting the monkeys in the rain forest was something we will not forget. I had no idea that they would be so unafraid of humans! Belmont Estate is a fascinating glimpse into history and a working cocoa plantation and factory. Sampling the chocolate was marvelous. My husband has pledged that he will be sending his clients Belmont chocolates this holiday season. Ashton’s van is modern, well-appointed and immaculate. He also seems to be well-known at various destinations and restaurants. Ashton drove us to all our dinners and made the reservations for us. Lastly, Ashton transported us to the airport. He is a friendly, knowledgeable and reliable guide who will make your trip to Grenada interesting and effortless.
Pool: The pool is in the main building. It is pretty, but not overly large. We stuck to the beach.

Staff: Everyone at the Mount Cinnamon is friendly and eager to provide guests with outstanding hospitality. Kevin, the manager, checked in with us frequently. Dwight, Tyrell and Britney were terrific at helping us schedule plans, reserve cabs, and transporting us in the golf cart. It was always a pleasure to see Amanda’s friendly face at breakfast. Thanks to Cedric for getting us an early lunch on our departure day.

Spa services/gym: There is a massage cabana near the beach that is not air-conditioned and a massage room in the main building that is. I had a deep tissue massage with Faith in the main building. I get massages regularly and recognized Faith as a skilled and sensitive practitioner who was able to detect where I was stiff or in pain. She did a great job of getting rid of the knots in my back and neck. I also had a manicure with Faith. Her work was meticulous, and my nails look perfect. There is a small gym and scheduled yoga classes. We did not use either.

Weather: One of the staff advised, “Don’t bother checking the weather. It’s always wrong.” The weather is typically sunny and 80-85 degrees with breezes and some humidity. However, Grenada’s heat is comfortable, not the stifling type you may encounter in Barbados or even Orlando in the summer. When it rains, expect an increase in sand flies afterwards. In our week’s vacation, we had one rainy day. Every other day was sunny. There were a few intermittent sun showers, but they passed quickly and left rainbows.

COVID-19 protocols: Grenada takes the threat of COVID seriously, so the public health laws will definitely have an impact on your trip. This is not a resort policy. It is a national health regulation. Preparations start about a week before you leave. We had to be PCR tested three days prior to flying to Grenada, upload our negative results to the Ministry of Health website, and then show our test results twice at the airport before boarding. Upon arrival in Grenada, visitors are tested again. (You pay for this test online in advance. I think it was $150 per person.) After that, guests must quarantine at the resort, wearing a red wristband to designate that you are awaiting your results. Those in quarantine have full access to everything Mount Cinnamon offers but can’t leave the grounds and must sit in separate sections at Savvy’s and the beach. If you are vaccinated, once your test results come back negative, you no longer need the wristband and can leave the resort. I’m not sure how it works for people who are not vaccinated. The Pure Grenada website explains all the procedures, but as of July 31, 2021, you must be vaccinated to visit Grenada, so that point may be moot. Three days before departure, you must have a rapid COVID test. This is arranged by the resort staff and takes place at Mount Cinnamon. You pay for this test at the time it is administered. The results are processed within a few hours. You must present the negative test results at airport check-in before departure.

Everyone wears masks inside the main building. If you are walking outside or at the beach, you are not expected to wear your mask, but it is anticipated that you will put it on if you encounter another person at close range. Before entering the dining room for breakfast, you must do a temperature check, use hand sanitizer and record your temperature and contact tracing information in a notebook. This is true at all businesses in Grenada. As someone at increased risk for serious COVID19, I chose to vacation in Grenada because of these public health practices.

Overall: Mount Cinnamon is a beautiful property on one of the best beaches in the world. The staff are friendly and professional. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing. Everyone wants you to enjoy your vacation, but no one is upselling you by pushing you to swim with dolphins, rent a Jetski or buy a timeshare. We had a magnificent vacation and hope to return next year.

Our family of 4 (plus our cat) stayed 4 nights in one of the Villas and it was the best experience we have had away from home! We were concerned about having to quarantine in the room with my daughter's cat but they had everything we needed and more....plus an incredible view of the beach and the beautiful greenery around the resort. My husband and I were even able to sneak down to the bar just before it closed to enjoy a couple glasses of champagne and some great conversation with the bartenders the day we were cleared from quarantine. Make sure you head down to the beach and sip a cocktail or two right on the sand steps away from the water. Our kids loved playing in the calm clear water and we loved how safe and family friendly the resort is. From welcome cocktails, to friendly staff, the beautiful location and multiple amenities around the property...this place is a dream come true!
