This Jacobean manor house is reputedly the inspiration for Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights', and the Brontes were frequent visitors here - we're happy to give our guests a tour if they would like one. High on the Pennine Way, on the edge of Haworth Moor, we overlook Ponden Reservoir, and are situated three miles from Haworth, historic home of the Brontes, and the world-famous Parsonage Museum.

We visited for our wedding anniversary, it didn't disappoint. We arrived after work and were offered coffee and cakes, Steve offered to arrange a taxi and gave us tips on where to go for food in Haworth. The following day we were treated to a guided tour of the house with wonderful references to Wuthering Heights and local history, we couldn't believe how generous Steve was with his time and sharing his knowledge and obvious love for his home and the neighbouring area. Breakfast was glorious and we saw other guests treated so individually it was no wonder they kept coming back. A real treat.

As I am named after Cathy from Wuthering Heights and my mother-in-law was an Earnshaw, I felt our only option was to stay in the Cathy Earnshaw room. Steve and Julie make great hosts with great stories to tell about the long history of the Hall and it's connection to the Bronte family - amazing. Go before it's sold and enjoy the scenery, the history and above all else the wonderful cooked breakfast, homemade cake and breads.

I cannot recommend this property and the friendly and welcoming hosts enough. From Haworth, you drive around 1 mile west up onto the Moors to Stanbury village, & Ponden Hall is around 1/2 a mile from the edge of Stanbury, overlooking Ponden Reservoir. The location is outstanding. Steve welcomed me and we had a lovely chat over a slice of amazing homemade cake. Ponden Hall is relaxed and comfortable, and my room was spotlessly clean. Steve gave me & the other guests a tour; the hall's stunning architecture and history were so interesting, and I learned so many things from Steve's little nuggets of information, any Bronte fan would love this tour. (It's the home that inspired the Bronte sisters & is the real-life Wuthering Heights). A full Yorkshire breakfast the next morning was such an outstanding meal I didn't need to eat again all day! Feel yourself stepping back in time & experience this unique B&B. Huge thank you to Steve for being such a fantastic host.

As everyone agrees, this is an outstanding place to stay and Steve was the most welcoming of hosts. It's described as a B&B but the standard of accommodation is excellent, and to be honest it felt more like a cross between a small country house hotel and staying with friends. It also has a beautiful location and fascinating historical links with the Brontes. The only downside is that on the weekend we were there, various news stories appeared saying Ponden Hall is up for sale. Obviously there are no guarantees that whoever buys it will carry on providing accommodation, and even if they do I can't believe they'll do it as well as Steve and Julie. So my advice would be to book up and enjoy it while you still can! PS they're also very COVID aware - we're cautious but felt completely safe.

Amazing stay in a home BnB with an amazing history! Steve and Julie were wondeful hosts, Julie's homemade cake and bread was a very welcome touch. We stayed in the Earnshaw Room that has a replica of the box bed that Mr Lockwood stayed in at Wuthering Heights, which frames the window where Kathy's ghost tried to get in! The wood burner in our room was blazing on our arrival, with a supply of logs (that was topped up daily). We honestly felt more like we'd known Steve for years and were friends rather than guests, we hope to visit again. Thank you Steve and Julie!
