El Charabon is a remarkable place. Peacocks, llamas, rheas, kittens....a real menagerie. But its real charm is the people. Owners Jorge and Graciela were utterly charming and helpful. Paula fed us till we burst. Diana was an impeccable hostess and a delight to be around. Alejandro and Antony made riding really enjoyable for a group of relative novices. The whole...

From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. Graciela gave us a tour of their beautiful home including her incredible paintings! And the llmas in the yard, etc. And such fun to meet Jorge. I think the four of us could have talked forever about politics and so much more... Thank you to Paola for the fabulous food, to...

Stayed 2 nights, March 2017 - Simply a wonderful experience. Graciela, Alejandro, Diana and Paula were so kind. The food and service was excellent and the horse riding was a great experience for novices like us. Neil and Rosalinda Hassall (England/France living in NYC).

El Charabon is a delight. The Property itself is wonderful. First, because it is authentic—a working ranch with 1000 head of cattle and hundreds of sheep— all part of the food chain and economy of Uruguay. Second, It also happens to be beautiful—rolling hills with eucalyptus trees, native grasses, shrubs, as far as the eye can see scattered with animals...

Even before we arrived in Uruguay the owner of the Estancia was so helpful in responding to all my questions and in a very timely manner. When we finally arrived we were so warmly greeted by the staff. We had a little trouble finding the exact road to get to the Estancia but locals at a restaurant/gas station were familiar...

El Charabon is an estancia with a small number of very nice rooms rather than a hotel with many rooms. Our hosts, Jorge and Graciela, were gracious, helpful, and friendly. Jorge gave us a personal and extensive tour of their large ranch, and we watched the care of his livestock. We are not "horse people," so we did not go...

During a recent (terrific) trip to Uruguay we stayed in several places. All of which were nice, but El Charabon was the absolute best. Within minutes of arriving, I felt totally at home. The rooms were luxurious, the bath was totally up to date and slick, and the care provided by the staff was astounding. Flowers in the rooms, turn...

El Charabon exceeded my expectations in every way! I stayed for 3 nights in May 2014 and was the only guest. I was welcomed so warmly and genuinely by Jorge and Graciela, I could see that this place was not a typical tourist cowboy ranch. The land is gorgeous and the animals are very well cared for. I loved waking...

Staying at El Carabon was a great treat for us. We hugely appreciated the kindness and consideration extended to us by everyone running the estancia. They have thought of everything. We went there to ride, so were surprised by the luxurious bedrooms and lovely pool. The horses were super and we had great fun cantering through the hills, looking for...

It's hard to find the words to express how wonderful this place is ! We stayed 3 nights in January 2014 and we have to say it was one of the best travel experiences of our lives !! An authentic "cattle ranch" thats for sure, this is the "real deal" for anyone looking for that full South American "Gaucho experience"...

  • We had two rooms and a bathroom, this was the bedroom with a great view to the rolling hills.
