We stayed in Kiviranta 10 nights in August. We meaning I and my daughter plus my husband for four nights. We really enjoyed the quiet location and the friendly service of the staff. Our purpose of the visit was to have a place to stay overnight and visit grandpa in the vicinity of Pirkkala. We live in USA. We happened to stay when the olympic games were ongoing. Every night we had the TV room for ourselves and enjoyed hours of uninterrupted viewing. There were other guest in the premises and during our stay there were two group gatherings but we were impressed how quiet and peaceful the place was all the time. The showers were on the hallway in a very nice sauna section. We knew before hand that there was no shower in the room and it didn't bother us at all. Our room was very clean and roomy enough with a restroom. The price is very reasonable. Our daughter loved the country like setting of the place. We ate red currants from the bushes and enjoyed the sauna by the lake. Had a fire in the firepit and grilled some sausage at night. It was absolutely beautiful. We swam in the lake and walked to nearby beach too. We had a wonderful peaceful time. The staff was helpful and friendly. We will return. :)

Kiviranta was chosen with an expectation for a peaceful place where we could sleep one night - and that is pretty much what it offers. The place is very much self-service which means that if you come late and leave early you will then need to find your way alone. However, when you reserve the room Kiviranta office/reception will help you via email (and phone too I would guess) to get all the needed information. We stayed in the Ritvala building where you will meet the look of 70/80s training center (or boarding school), corridor lined with basic rooms with desk, 2 beds and wc. Showers are in the hallway, separated for ladies and gents. Nothing more in the room but you can find television from the common room by the common kitchen. There are no blackout curtains in the room so prepare with eye mask if you need darkness for sleeping. There was only one other room booked the night we stayed, so night was quiet but I am not sure how peaceful the rooms are if there is many people living in their own schedule and walking around in the building. Kiviranta did offer "self-service breakfast" based on request. We took it to found out this meant slices of ham, cheese, tomato, cucumber and a couple of leaves of salad set on a plate, yoghurt, juice, and milk in refrigerator. Other options were bread, rolls and muesli as well as an opportunity to make coffee/tea in the small kitchen. Well... the intention could be okay-ish, but: milk was dated the same day we came, there was only 3 tea bags in the kitchen (luckily I had my own), amount of food was very limited (no open buffet but exact amount of items for each quest) so a hungry guest will sure stay hungry. Lesson learnt: go to shop, buy whatever you want to eat and store them in the fridge to cook your own food with the equipment and cutlery available in the kitchen. There is cattles etc. for cooking warm food too. Good points in this stay were: parking is free, WLAN is free (and worked perfectly), views to garden and lake are nice, beds and linen were good and clean. If you don't need more then this is okay place to stay - but I'm still a bit hesitant with this recommendation because of the price they ask. This is very close to hotel prices (Kiviranta normal rate is 89€ for 2 person room with "breakfast") and I would say that especially early bookers can get the same price or even lower from main chain hotels in Finland - including excellent breakfast!
