Great place to stay. Very friendly staff, plenty of food at breakfast time and we had fun in the games room and lounges in the evening. Perfect access to the hills behind! We were fortunate to get private rooms available when we booked, so had plenty of space to ourselves. Made good use of drying room!

A great place, well run, good staff. Personally, I am very happy to recommend this place for walkers/runners/outdoors adventures. Clean, friendly. Well positioned. The lounges are good and it is nice that you can get a beer if you want. Food was very good.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback. I think you have neatly summed up our appeal to 'outdoors adventurers'. I hope you get the opportunity for further adventures & that we see you again.

About 35 min walk from the train station this hostel is set in some wonderful grounds. Great walks right on the doorstep. Rooms were warm, clean and comfortable as were the bathroom facilities. Bring food or ask the hostel beforehand to make something as its a little isolated. Staff were friendly and there are useful maps. Breakfast was fantastic too,...

Hello & thanks for posting a review. It's always encouraging to hear from people making the most of our location even in the winter months & when our relative isolation can really add to the whole adventure but without compromising comfort or adding to cost. Hope to see you again.

I went as a volunteer to Edale and it was a fantastic experience. The staff are very friendly and the food is great. Caving as an activity I would encourage people to try, you can get wet feet but great fun and a once in a life time experience. There is phone signal up a hill but the accommodation doesn't...

Hi Selina, I'm really glad you had a good time despite (or perhaps because of) the lack of mobile phone signal. Thanks again for the invaluable input from yourself & the rest of your group - it was a pleasure to have you here.

We've just got back from a 2 day mini-break at Edale YHA, and it was fantastic! We had a good, clean warm room for all 4 of us (2 bunkbeds!) with ensuite. As it was close to Christmas, it was quite quiet which suited us. Staff were very friendly, the food served was of an excellent quality - I recommend...

Hi John, Many thanks for the review. I glad your stay was a successful one & we were particularly pleased to see young people out & about in our surrounding countryside regardless of season/weather - it's what we are all about. We will be very glad to see you again when there is more daylight & you can explore further.

Comfortable bunk rooms, good shower rooms, good food - for a group of Explorer Scouts. Good beer for the leaders! Plenty of space for us to spread out for some coaching and prep for a 3-day expedition that we were about to set out on.

Really great location, remote yet not too far from all the things that matter. Lovely clean rooms and facilities, helpful staff. Warm and cosy, fantastic lounge and games room. Good food. We'll be back..

I stayed here with my family when I was climbing my last 2000ft hills in England. The hostel is located way up a road some distance from the village of Edale and from the station. The hostel itself is nice and has a range of facilities including a self-catering kitchen and also a restaurant where you can have breakfast and...

This is one the nicer YHA properties I've been to and my 4 bedded room was ensuite which was great. We walked for 2 days and saw some stunning scenery on the Tors around the valley ridge. As self caterers though we did find the kitchen too small and lacking in facilities with almost zero shelf space, small fridges and...

Thanks for the review which prompts a timely reminder about our self catering facilities & their limitations. Our facilities can only adequately deal with approx. 12 people at any given time & we attempt, in our pre-stay communications, to make clear that the simplest meals at less usual times may take the edge off some frustrations but not always. With...

It is a long way from the station if you are walking with no indications as to whether or not you are heading in the right direction, a few signs would be helpful. On arrival the pathway up to the hostel is treacherous even in the dry, I hate to think what it would be like in the wet..

Hello & thanks for the comments. We have two sets of signs at the bottom of our drive which certainly seem to do an adequate job for those arriving by car but I'm afraid we simply would not be permitted to add signage from the village & in surrounding countryside - most find that a copy of our directions perhaps...
