Detailed Reviews
This time, as we were 2 families of 9 members, we booked Villa Amalia, the 5 bedroom villa, which is steps away from the main hotel building and proved to be the best solution for our needs.
The villa is listed as a 150 sqm property but I truly believe it must be an error as it boasts 5 huge bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, a living room, kitchen and a beautiful dining area by the private pool, filled with salty water.
The service was spotless, plenty of toiletries, clean towels, extra towels for swimming pool, bathrobes, free minibar, plates and other kitchen stuff.
The barbeque by the pool is a very nice touch, even though we haven't used it, we found this a very sweet idea.
The walk to the hotel is less than 2 minutes, unless you decide to call for a lift with their electrical golf car.
We keep returning to Saint John for the kindness of their staff, be it in the reception, restaurant or transportation. On this occasion I'd like to extend our special thanks to Panos Theodoridis, who tirelessly made sure everyday that we do not miss anything and enjoy everything (and thanks for the surprise bday cake as well, a very nice personal touch!).
An extra note: Mykonos is famous for their sunsets and many people are trying hard to get the best spots in town to enjoy the show. Saint John comes with the beautiful sunset included, as it is positioned brilliantly on the west side of the island. Sun is also guaranteed throughout the day, there's no geographical or human made obstruction.

We chose this hotel for our stay in Mykonos because we believe st John (ag. Ioannis) is a very nice area of the island with a good beach and located close to town. We had two deluxe sea view rooms. They came to pick us up at the airport and dropped us there when we left (complementary service appreciated.)
The rooms themselves were quite good and clean. The cleaning crew was lovely. The AC in one of the rooms was malfunctioning the first night of the stay and they were good at dealing with the issue. Sent someone that same evening to check it out and a professional technician the next day. It was resolved fairly quickly.
The breakfast included was good in variety, buffet style, but covid made the experience bad. Given none of the guests could pick up what they wanted directly from the buffet, you had to wait for a server to come by and have them do it for you. In this scenario, you need WAY MORE staff than what they had on the floor. I found myself having to wait for a while almost always and arguing which of the guests came first in line. Childish things that ruin the overall experience.
The other issue was very few sunbeds available at the pool/jacuzzi/beach area. These spots were taken very early, so the rest of the guests had to stay in the balcony area under the blazing sun with no umbrellas. This is exactly why we didn’t stay there during the day and went to other beaches. Not sure if this limited number is due to covid, or just bad organization. I feel it is the latter, given the umbrellas were bolted to the floor(crazy winds in mykonos) so that limits the capacity.
The staff is ok, they were under a lot of stress given they were so few for the current covid restrictions. The valet service is useless, you may as well get rid of it. Every single night there were quads (4x4) parked in their tiny parking lot instead of cars although their designated spot was a bit before the parking lot. The guy’s excuse every night was ‘we didn’t see them’. Not sure what he’s paid for then. We were forced to park on the street above the hotel or inbetween st. John and the neighboring hotel. Overall, quite annoying and disorganized.
The hotel restaurants have ok food, nothing to go crazy about. electric oven pizzas that resemble the frozen ones. Pasta was good.
Hopefully this hotel was just a bit messy due to covid and functions better in normal times.

We booked directly with the hotel and got quite a good deal for 7 nights and a sea view room. The first room was nice but the bathroom was awful - just a dilapidated bath with a shower over and a toilet with a wobbly crooked seat. I complained to the very miserable and unfriendly female manager on the front desk. She kept me waiting for over 20 minutes before she ‘helped’ me and offered for someone else to show me another room. That one had a new loo but the bath was the same. No I said. Then the very friendly young porter asked me what I wanted (a decent shower) phoned reception and got instructions to show me another. This one had a bath with a shower and another separate shower. The view was the same so a result.
The rest of the week was lovely even though we did not spend much time hanging around the hotel. The breakfast buffet was awkward because you had to ask for what you wanted and then be served (you couldn’t touch the food). The staff were a mixed bunch and I’m sure one of them commented to herself when I asked for 4 pieces of melon and not 2. I didn’t feel easy about going back for more either but my husband didn’t care and although he didn’t like it, he returned as much as he wanted.
The pool was gorgeous and the private beach was perfect. The sunsets were breathtaking and you could enjoy them from the balcony in the room as well as everywhere else.
In all it was a great week and we loved it.

This hotel is absolutely amazing, from the stunning pools to the beautiful views and the food was the best food we have ever had in an all inclusive hotel. Everything was so fresh and done with care, we loved eating here every morning for breakfast and lunch.
Our room was lovely and quiet and had an amazing sea view which was a dream to wake up to every morning.
The staff at the hotel are all wonderful and so friendly but we wanted to mention 3 people in particular who made our stay better. Dassos was the pool guy who handed out all the towels and made the sunbeds up for you every morning, he was so friendly and chatty and really enjoyed speaking to him every morning we went to the pool or beach. Lia worked at reception and very helpful with advice and recommendations for us to try, she was so lovely. Sophia worked behind the bar and all I can say is you must try her cocktails! She's the best cocktail maker we have ever had and was just brilliant. We were so sad to leave as we knew we would never get to try her cocktails again!!!!
Overall it was a lovely and relaxing break and if we ever go to Mykonos again we would definitely be booking this hotel.

I really love this place so I am a repeat customer. I appreciate the kindness of people in the restaurants and at the beach, and this year, I was amazed by Elmina, a new concierge, always smiling and welcoming. However, there are some issues to take into consideration:
a. When a customer books a seaview room, he wants a seaview room. It is disappointing when it is not respected, even if a solution is provided afterwards
b. Furniture must be repaired. There is no excuse for ill maintained armchairs and not immacutely clean linen
Otherwise, location will always be a reason for getting there

After in depth research of what seemed like dozens of hotels, we settled on the Saint John and I’m SO glad we did.
I do not have a single complaint about this hotel. It’s staff and everything about the hotel itself is pure class and luxury. Sure it is expensive however as with most things in life you get what you pay for. It’s no more expensive than the rest of the island. You don’t go to Mykonos on a budget!
The food available in the hotels gorgeous three restaurants is simply superb. Everything was fresh, delicious and piping hot (even at the most wonderful breakfast buffet.) We literally enjoyed every bite of everything we had.
Thank you to a few incredible people who took care of us for the week and made our holiday extra special. Anastasia at breakfast. Olga and Mike at the beach/pool restaurant Breeze. Sofia in the lobby bar.
The room itself was perfect and comfortable with room in the fridge for your own drinks if needed. 2 small bottles of water, coffee and tea for the maker are provided every day. There is a mini mart down the hill about a 10 minute walk away along with about 4 restaurants. It’s a very steep hill.
The hotel provides a free shuttle into Mykonos Town every day from 6pm and the returns start at 9:30pm. You have to book with concierge and you have to do that early on the day otherwise it will be booked. The hotel can also arrange private transfers for €25 each way which was reasonable as a taxi was €20 but getting one can be tricky.
Lastly the scenery is just stunning. Everywhere you look there is beauty. The hotel was clean everywhere and all Covid rules/regulations were being followed well.
I would return in a heart beat and recommend heartily to you.

From the covid safe but friendly checkin with welcome prosecco and nibbles on the terrace balcony at sunset to the well appointed room with large balcony it was def worth the money. Being covid the price i understand was below what they normally charge. Personally i could not have afforded the 2019 price. The views are beautiful, good amenities - small gym, two pools, small private beach with lounges, umbrellas & table service! Breakfast great variety and quality. I didn't eat lunch or dinner. Prices for fresh juices a tad high but the island in general is expensive. Would def stay here again at the same rate.

On arrival room was allocated later than the 3 pm check in time yet they expected you to be out on time. No apology- they did offer a complementary drink so we had a water then they brought us a 5 euro bill which we had to pay.
Rooms basic and restaurants opened in turn at various times - the food was pretty good quality but expensive. Shuttle into town was good but reception staff failed to advise us you had to book
Housekeeping / pool and restaurant staff were professional only let down by the continued poor experience in reception - the icing on the cake was on check out the manager asked if I’d like to add a tip for the reception team errr no!
All in all if you want a hotel that’s clean and tidy but very quiet and about 20 mins from town this is your spot

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights after coming from Athens. The hotel was incredible. We were picked up from the port via complimentary transport and then had a welcome drink when we arrived.
We were blown away by the resort and facilities. The views from the hotel over the Mykonos island were incredible and the rooms were clean. Our bed was huge and so comfortable with fluffy pillows and soft sheets. The hotel is great as it has a pool, viewing deck and beach.. all you could want from it which is hard to find and a decent location on the island.
As for the staff they were amazing! Their poolside and dinner service was incredible and it was lovely to see their smiling faces everyday. We noticed they got up quite early to throughly wipe down the viewing platform and poolside and it’s clear to see how hard everyone worked. The breakfast buffet was incredible too with loads of options.
We used the complimentary shuttle service into town most evenings which was perfect and makes it so much easier to get round the time.
Overall we would come back time and time again to this hotel and not even consider going elsewhere!

we booked an executive sea view room, and have to say was a little disappointed with the room - two single beds pushed together, when i complained they rectified by providing a double quilt at least which still wasn't up to scratch for a 3 night stay that cost over £1000 ! the room itself was clean, small balcony but a stunning view. some of the cheaper rooms had similar views, and larger outdoor areas so in hindsight i would not upgrade again. the hotel itself is stunning, great pool area and access to the beach. immaculate everywhere and didn't spot one thing wrong. food was lovely and good value compared to other places we ate. very laid back so no good if you want to party. its a bit out of the way and the complementary shuttle bus isn't always available so we found a local taxi firm which was more reliable and cheaper. would defiantly stay again and recommend it - just wish we'd had the double bed we booked and paid for.

Hey Sam, look is is a 5 Star Hotel in Mykonos but the Saint John is really famous for its value for money. We never had any issues with our rates at our restaurants and bars. Have a nice day, Panos
