Staying here for the second time after a visit to Tobelo in Halmahera. Standard room the first time and superior now. The first room was a bit dark, but freshly painted and clean with effective air conditioning and OK bathroom. The bathroom was an Indonesian style mandi.. a tap to fill a large container with water that you then use to bathe.. I felt sorry for the other reviewer who thought this tap was meant to be a shower.. this is a midrange place so don't expect Western comforts. The superior room is well worth the extra money and lives up to its name- spacious, hot water and a sitting area and terrace. Pleasant garden too which you don't see from the standard room. Good food options on the neighbouring street, and a short walk down to the sea front where there's a good choice of street food and a big atmospheric market.

The good thing is its location and large garden. The room is average but poorly maintained. The doormat is dirty, the wall in the bathroom is dirty, the breakfast is terrible, the furniture is the lobby, goodness, is so dull. The benefit is the room is air-conditioned which is helpful in the climate of Ternate.

Great. Any expecting more than a simple Kita (lodge) with also western style appointments will be disappointed. But for simple accomodations was AOK. Beds were comfortable, had hot running water all the time for showers, and a very well working in-room air conditioner that was most appreciated! "Breakfast" was very simple. rice and veggies, sometimes eggs, toast, tea/coffee, but OK to get the day started. MOST +++ was the manager Meidi who could not have been more helpful. Driving many of us around town and airport, acting as a translater for us both written and as we were about by phone, and juggling rooms to meet specific needs of singles doubles, and "superiors". Superior rooms are well worth the very small cost to upgrade. Don't stay here if you want a 5* western experience! But for simple lodging and a friendly helpful staff it was great. And the wifi worked! If your there go to the Royal restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

I was a late add-on to a large group who were on the island for the eclipse. As there were no beds in all of Ternate, the staff set up a mattress for me at a great price. The room was fine: no mosquitoes, the A/C struggled a bit but did the job, the Wi-Fi worked as well as anywhere in Indonesia. I'm not sure what one poster is complaining about with the bed linens; frankly, they were far thicker and better than my bed sheets at home. For a budget hotel in its price range, the Kita did admirably well. The best feature of the Kita was the staff. Always smiling, they did everything they could to accommodate our group, from letting us use the kitchen facilities to ensuring we got on the Internet. And this all happened despite the language barrier. The owners, who were on their way to the airport, even asked a few of us who were checking out if we'd like a lift in their car. You can walk just about anywhere in Ternate from the hotel, while it's set back off the road a bit so you couldn't hear motorbike noise at night. Our group was more than happy with our stay there.

We booked this hotel as it was the only one available for the eclipse. Horrible choice! Im not sure if its the same condition for all other cabins, but ours was really nasty! -first thing I noticed upon entry was the AMOUNT OF MOSQUITOES INSIDE THE ROOM. I guess this set of rooms isnt really booked regulary, hence, the mosquitoes. -the toilet was unclean and it feels gross to even take a shower (if you call a hose sticking out 2 feet from the ground a "shower"). -THE BEDSHEETS WERE PREHISTORIC! I guess theyre about a decade old! -AIRCONDIOTINING SUCKED TOO MUCH that we had to move the bed so we would be directly under the airconditioning -The whole room feels like a big toilet repurposed as a bedroom (the walls are made of bathroom quality tiles, a rather poor choice) -The staff cant speak English. Period. We had to use Google translate for every transaction. -VERY EXPENSIVE INTERNET! And by the time we decide to pay for connection, the staff said that internet is down -For the same amount, I could have booked a rather nice hotel at Vietnam or Cambodia
