As a result of an absurd decision by Wings Air, we were asked to leave the aircraft in Ternate, leaving the checked baggage, during the flight Manado-Ternate - Labuha. Help with finding a hotel and transportation was not provided by the company. Expected back at the airport at 05.00 the next morning. Ultimately, the Boulevard Hotel found us willing to accept us as a guest overnight. Simple small room of approx. 9 m2, including the shower and toilet. Traffic noise, noisy hotel, mainly aimed at Indonesian guests. Room had AC and the beds were clean. No restaurant and the promised early breakfast never seen. Staff was friendly. Proficiency in the English language was minimal.
First the hotel is so old. Then the air conditioner in my room is broken so i get upgrade room and it not free. I have pay 90.000 rp for upgrade n still get bad room. The air conditioner is leaking and the there is ant in the bed. And to put it worse when the electricity down the hotel doesnt have genset.
The hotel is absolutely overpriced. The rooms (and the whole hotel) smell of smoke because smoking is allowed everywhere in the hotel. The appliances are outdated, the bathroom smells bad, the sheets have stains and the tap water is salty. The standard rooms don't have windows and there are mosquitos in the rooms. Staff is nice (but don't speak any English) but they and the management don't have the least idea of how to run a hotel. The lobby is huge but there's no air conditioning. Wifi only works at times.
Location is probably the main (or only) reason to choose this hotel. Air conditioned, but you have to wait some time for the "hot" water in the shower. The room is clean but basic, and not suited for anything else than sleeping. There is no point in paying extra for a window and "view". I actually think an inside room without "view" would have been more quiet, late night and early morning. The western "breakfast" was very very minimalistic: dry toast, sweet artificial red (strawberry?) jam, plus coffee. I slept well, and was treated nice, but I will still try another hotel next time.
This hotel is an average hotel. The price is in average, their service also in average value. The neighborhood of this hotel not so supported the environment for staying. But, not so far from the local port.
Stayed at the Boulevard Hotel for one night. Located 10-15 minutes from the airport and across the street from Jatiland Mall. Rooms are sufficiently spacious. One side of the hotel is directly across from a mosque, so expect an early morning wakeup call. TV and AC worked fine, but hot water was warm at best. No toilet paper in the bathrooms(!). Breakfast was Indonesian buffet style...not great, not terrible.
Good location - across from Mega Mall, park with lots of shade down the street, traditional market is close by. It's probably about a 10 minute drive to the airport. (I didn't pay that much attention to the time.) The staff were friendly and I was with someone who spoke the language, so I had limited interaction with the staff. There was only one day that I was there for breakfast and I hit it a little later. So, there was rice, a veggie dish and fish. I do not know if they offer more earlier or not. . . . Notes to western travelers who are not used to more remote 3rd world country locations: while my room didn't smell of cigarette smoke, smoking was allowed in the hotel. So, there were times when I definately smelled it in my room. This hotel is right across the street from a Mosque - that plays more than just the calls to prayer and plays the loudly (in my opinion). There is no shower curtain; fortunately, the shower handle comes off. You need to ask for towels, which the staff will provide with a smlie. (I do not know if they charge extra or not.) I needed to ask for extra toilet paper and found out the staff didn't know that word in English - no problem, I just walked down with the empty roll and they sent more up. They do provide 2 bottles of drinking water. If you want more, there is a Mega Mart in the Mega Mall across the street. Large bottles of water were about 4,500 rp or about 1/3 of a US $ as of this writing. The lighting in the rooms was quite dim and there was only 1 plug for charging. There is no plug in the bathroom and no hair dryer. Hot water is a little iffy. It seemed that you had a greater chance of getting it if you showered in the morning. The bathroom smelled noticably of sulfer. And, by US cleaning standards, the cleaning was rather sub-par. Also, I do not know if this was just my room or not, but I could not turn the air conditioning down or off. Fortunately, I'm from a cold climate, so I slept great! However, I did wear a sweater in my room when I was up and about. The sheets had minor stains on them; however, I did see staff changing them in the rooms, so I figured they were clean. And, I didn't have any bedbugs, so I was grateful for that. I did notice a mosquito in my room once, so you may want to have bug spray handy. However, I think most of this is pretty normal for Indonesian standards and I was grateful to have a room to sleep in.…
My room was new, and quite clean. The staff was warm and polite. With the sea just across the road, traditional market in walking distance, I enjoy stay here. Located in a commercial area, we can find almost everything we need in the proximity. The food was so so, but afterall the atmosphere was warm, I feel like home.
I stayed here for a day for bussiness trip. The hotel location is right in the middle of the city, near to every city attraction within walking distance. Its quite new hotel, they just renovated it last year if i'm not mistaken but when i was there, the room is moldy with damp air and the painting fell over. Breakfast was standard, infact the menu food is overcooked and the waitress who supposed to serve us is rude. But, compared to other hotels in the city, i still think this is the most affordable and the most convinient location with decent price also.
A friend recommended this hotel but then it is a disasterous stay. Booked 1 night in a standard room and the room is without window. The bathroom fixtures are all rusty and the shower head holder is detached. No hot water during the stay and the reception told me it is being fixed and no dateline was given. Electricity was off more than 3 times and no one knew what was going on. Location is good but the hotel is badly managed.
