The hotel's location is only walking distance from the port of Ternate where it has beautiful sunrise. i recommended if you only need a place to stay after exploring the archipelago of Halmahera and need transit to catch the flight on the next day. I assume this is the old building so acceptable for all the lack. i just don't like the staff, a young woman, who always busy with her phone and didn't pay attention for what we need or questions.
Hotel was just basic, but very clean. Staffs wasn't that friendly yet not understanding their products. Restaurant staffs very lazy and rarely helpful, seems not understanding what we needs. Most of every morning during breakfast, coffee is always empty, have to reported to them with lazy and unfriendly answer.
This hotel is about as good as it gets in Ternate for cheaper. The average rating (3 stars) is attributed to the overall Indonesia scale. It's not a bad place, but not good either. Not appropriate for families with kids, only suitable for adventurous couples/singles. As others have stated, Hotel is composed of three hotels, stayed in Hotel Archie 1 for this visit. It's about 20 minutes or less from the airport and 5-10 minutes from Jatiland Mall. It's ok as a place to hang your hat if in Ternate for short business or to climb mountains/sightsee. Otherwise, best not to visit here. While the exterior facade is nice and has been redone, the interior leaves much to be desired. All rooms were smoking as was the lobby, just be aware. It's located in a residential area and right next to a mosque, so be prepared for early morning calls to prayer and late night parties. Breakfast, when available, was some rice, toast, and not much else. This is a remote part of Indonesia, so best to manage your expectations. If just coming for short-term sightseeing, it's an ok place but not appropriate for kids under 12 in any capacity. Standard rooms have cable and twin beds with A/C (if working), bathrooms do not have sinks as it's split faucet with shower head. It's a rustic place.…
As I know there are 3 properties they have in the one place of the hotel which is consists of Archie 1, Archie 2 and Menara Archie (the new property). I heard about the general view about Archie 1 & 2, I tried the Menara Archie for a night in Ternate then I have suggestion the new property is best than any Archie's properties. I have nice sightseeing from my room includes Gamalama mountain, Masjid of Falajawa and the sea. About price is reasonable, when you want to have nice stay you can choose for Amara Bela Resort, if cant the Menara Archie can be the option one. Unfortunately they didn't have wifi in each rooms.
I stayed at the Archie 1 for one night , because I must wait for airfast flight going to Halmahera so I'll try to find the hotel and finding Archie is better than an old hotel nearby Archie. The room is so small and some of the staff are unfriendly, especially in the restaurant. Hope the management will train the staff how to service their guest more friendly and helping them to carry the luggage into the room.
If you're looking for hotels in Ternate, you'll quickly find out that there's one "world-class" hotel, meaning that it's comfortable and modern, and that's the Amara Bela. I stayed at the Archie, because I wasn't willing to spend that much. Know that in the more remote parts of Indonesia, there's usually a huge difference in quality between the best and second best hotels. The Archie is usually rated second best. The room was dark and depressing, and you couldn't open the curtains without seeing directly into someone's home, so the room stayed dark and depressing. The air conditioning was weak, and the power is out for approximately 8 hours a day, which is a problem with Ternate, not with the hotel, however, I suspect that a nicer hotel would have generators. The weather is oppressively hot, so this was a problem. On the plus side, they had regular, sitting toilets, and a regular shower, even though there wasn't hot water in my room. Oddly, there was no sink, so i had to wash my hands and face in the shower. There were a few geckos in my room, though I think they spray for them, because toward the end of my stay, there was a dead one in the middle of the bathroom. The staff were nice, and the breakfast (included) was excellent. The hotel was so uncomfortable, however, that I don't think I'd come back to Ternate unless I could afford the Amara Bela.…
