Just returned from a 3 night stay (following 1 night at the artic fox igloos). All I can say is that everything is amazing. The accomodation (superior apartment) far exceeded expectations and the activities were unforgetable. We made use of the free entry to the wildlife park and did snowshoe walking, a northern lights snow mobile safari and a husky sled safari. Everything is extremely well organised, the staff are very efficient and friendly and clearly just want everyone to have a good time. We stayed half board (via Secret Escapes) and I thought the food was really good, not loads of choice but always a fish, chicken and meat dish and very nicely cooked. Outdoor clothing provided which is excellent quality and you keep for the duration of your stay (although if your first night is in an igloo you won't get your clothing until you arrive at the village). The only special things you need to take are a hat, a couple of pairs of gloves to wear under the mittens provided, warm socks, thermal under clothing and a good winter coat along with sensible shoes/boots for when you first arrive or just walking to the restaurant. Then just normal jeans/joggers and jumpers as you don't need to wear the suits if you are just going to the restuarant or out for a short walk (eg. round the wildlife park).

This was our first winter type holiday and we absolutely loved it, the activities are what make it so memorable so book on as many as you are able to.

You stop at a supermarket on the transfer from the airport, as we were staying half board we just picked up some snacks and wine. You can buy some snacks on site but they are limited, although there is a cafe and restuarant where you can pick up a light bite/lunch or an evening meal if you are B&B if you book in advance, it all looked reasonably priced.

There is no tea, coffee, milk in the apartments so make sure you pick some up at the supermarket, they do explain this to you on the way though so you shouldn't forget.

Unfortunately we only got to see the Northern Lights through the camera and whilst we would have loved to see them (especially as it as supposed to be a really good night for them) we still had a fantastic time on the snowmobiles, had a camp fire in the snow and cooked sausages!

The wifi is excellent (I streamed Netflix with no problems), there is a drying compartment in the apartment to dry off any wet clothing and a decent hairdryer in the downstairs bathroom. All linen and towels are provided along with washing up provisions and dishwasher tablets. The sauna is really nice after a cold day out and we used it several times.

Everything is amazing, its a very peaceful place and I had the best time ever. Go and enjoy!

We had a fantastic trip full of memories. Everything was arranged really well and the so called apartment for 2 was a modern / stylish house with beds to sleep 6 so plenty of room. The beds were extremely comfortable, our only moan would be they were singles pushed together but understand that it caters for more this way.
Kitchen was well equipped and the sitter room was snug with the log burner. Having a private sauna was useful, we used it every day as easy to use and heated up within 20 minutes.
The outside area's were also well maintained and they kept the paths clear of snow. All the other amenities were good, and service was extremely friendly. The guides on the tours had a great sense of humour and very professional. We went snowmobiling at night, husky riding and a couple other things. The husky's were our highlight.
Food has mixed reviews from people but I can honestly say we thought it was great, it's not 5* but fresh and three main choices each night. My partner is extremely fussy and can't eat fish either but even he loved the choices. Hearty warm fuel food. We recommend buying some drinks at the supermarket on route from the airport as there isn't a bar and whats on offer is limited plus the restaurant shuts at 9pm .
We would 100% re-visit again, our memories were magical and we travel a lot to some amazing places. We'll be talking about this trip for ever.

I travelled with my 21 year old son and booked our trip with Secret Escapes.
Our stay here was one to remember!
From being picked up at the airport to being dropped back at the airport, everything was so well organised and ran effortlessly.
We chose self catering and the transfer from the airport stopped for 20 mins at a large supermarket so that we could buy provisions. The supermarket was very well priced and had all that you would need to cater for your meals.
The apartments were spotlessly clean. We had washing up liquid, dishwasher powder, soap/shower gel, toilet paper and cleaning supplies all provided (oh and salt and pepper)
We had the thermal suits provided and we practically lived in these.
We had booked a snowmobile trip to the Alpaca farm...due to the abundant snowfall, we had to travel here by 4x4 but then went snowmobiling on our return. We were the only ones on this trip and we had such a great time.
We then went snowmobiling in the evening...no northern lights though (it snowed all weekend) This was an excellent trip too!
Finally we had the two hour husky sledding and that was a highlight for us. Such good fun.
The zoo was also great to walk around and by the time we returned home we were exhausted.
This resort has something on offer for everyone and I will definitely be returning.

We flew from Gatwick to this resort in late February 2020. 3 night stay. From start to finish the arrangements were efficient and friendly. We felt welcome and well cared for, the resort was clean warm and very comfortable and the range of activities and excursions was wide enough to please every age group. Families with children were thoroughly enjoying it as much as adults but the very youngest children ( under 5 ) were finding it a bit tiring we thought. Every member of staff was delightful, many had good English, but those without had big smiles . We went on a husky driving trip ( fabulous) a late night horse sleigh ride hoping for the northern lights ( which did not appear but the ride and the horsemen were great anyway), to feed polar bears and meet an arctic fox, and by snowmobile to a reindeer farm ( our equal favourite trip). The guides were a young international team and were careful and cheerful.
We were on a breakfast and dinner included deal and found the food delicious and plentiful with several scandinavian influenced choices at dinner. It was not clear to us in advance if you could have drinks with dinner but yes there is both wine and beer as well as soft options.
Our "room" was a two storeylodge which can sleep up to 6 but that would be cramped. For 4 it would be good but for the two of us it was super. had its own kitchen, sauna ,two shower rooms and a very good drying cabinet for snowy clothes.
Excellent WiFi. Perhaps the only thing we would suggest is making the TV WiFi enabled (or having DVDs available )so you can connect your own downloaded films. We were shattered by the evenings after such busy and enjoyable days and would have enjoyed a movie in our own language.

I travelled early February with 3 friends to celebrate a big birthday. From the transfers from the airport, checking into the cabin, meals and pre booked activities everything went very smoothly. All the staff were lovely and very easy going, nothing is too much trouble for them.

We asked to change the day of our evening time snowmobile trip to the night we arrived as it was the only night which would have any clear sky and this was done quickly without any issues. We also did husky sledging which was great fun, I just wish we could have gone a bit quicker as it was a bit stop/start and felt rather slow compared to the snowmobile trip but the dogs were great - we even visited the husky place once our trip was done and spent some time with the dogs which was really lovely.

The only trip we booked which I wasn't too keen on was the reindeer ride out to a local lake, the trip was lovely but I don't think the reindeer enjoy it at all so I felt a little uncomfortable with that one (unlike the huskys who obviously really love pulling the sledge and can't wait to set off!) I wish I'd just booked the longer trip to snowmobile to the reindeer farm to meet them instead.

The zoo is a must do while you're there, the enclosures are large and natural and it's a lovely walk around seeing all the well kept animals.

I was also very impressed with the food as I'd read a few reviews not being very complimentary about it, the food was lovely! There is a choice of fish, chicken and read meat every night with potatoes and vegetables plus salad. Yes it's slightly limited but it's all super tasty and well cooked. Breakfast was also nice with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sausages, croissants, pastries, cereals, pancakes etc.

I loved the 3 nights we stayed here and would recommend it to anyone wanting a clean well laid cabin where all your trips are close by and everything you need is catered for.

We stayed here for 3 nights from 10-13 February, followed by 1 night in the Arctic Fox Igloos.

It was a longer drive from the airport than I anticipated and it was set closer to the road also than I expected, but once you are checked in you forget about the road. There's quite a hill from the lodges up to the reception and on our first day I found this really quite slippery.

The lodge we had was very nice and spacious. My biggest issue was that there were no proper curtains at all which would have made it feel cosier. There were no double beds. Kitchenette was well equipped. The floor is quite slippery, I fell down the stairs during my stay as my socks slipped on the wood, just an accident but if you have little ones I would say definitely be careful. The drying cupboard will become your best friend and is so handy to have.

We had quite a few activities booked up during our stay which are all based within the resort and we thought were all very good value for money.

The restaurant is pretty basic, but the food was nice. The breakfast was the same every day and felt a bit like a canteen, but for dinner they make a bit more effort and it felt more like a proper restaurant. The choices were basically the same every day but there was always something nice.

Brilliantly appointed holiday villas - like a hotel complex, with private villas (see photos), each with a private sauna. Main reception serves all the activities and there is a restaurant on side for half board basis (buffet for each) and also as a paid for restaurant and cafe on side for during the day.
Our villa was very spacious (slept 6 but was just two of us), two bathrooms, sauna, lounge (with tv), with kitchen and dining table. Good facility to make own food and all the basic things you’d expect in a kitchen.
The hotel take you to a supermarket on transfer from airport to stock up on any food, alcohol or milk for teas/coffees. There is no bar as such on site but you can buy alcohol with your meals.
The holiday village also provide all your outerwear for the stay - snowsuit (all in one), boots, socks, gloves, balaclavas, helmets (if using snowmobiles) and you can use for the duration of your stay until you check out (at minus 18 this was somewhat a relief to keep warm!) but make sure you pack plenty of layers, thermals etc if in the cold season - most of us had our winter coats on with the ski suit when out at night on snow mobiles.
There are a large number of activities you can do and it’s well organised, with super friendly and engaging staff. We did the snowmobiles search for northern lights (& lucky enough to find them). It was a mixed group but they ensure everyone was comfortable and it’s certainly suited to all levels and no problem if a beginner (like us). Useful to have your driving license with you if wanting to drive these (though not essential, but would need to sign a disclaimer).

Accomodation is in pretty separate (wildlife themed) houses which can accommodate 6 people. Wood stove (logs supplied), full kitchen, drying room, sauna, 2 bathrooms. So spacious yet cosy.
Walk to main building for lovely buffet breakfast. Visit to supermarket on the way in from airport to stock the kitchen and fridge. Restaurant if prefer not to cook.
All cold weather gear supplied...even boots, balaclavas and outer gloves.
Husky sledding is fabulous!!!! Best experience ever. You drive yourself (one sits on sled other stands at back and drives...and operates the brake LOL! Huskies are so enthusiastic and friendly you fall in love with them instantly.
Little zoo is on site. You can pay to view feeding the polar bear and its a rare opportunity to see (and feed) an arctic fox. (Transport gets you there.)There's an ice bar in there so you can get a hot vodka and juice which goes down very well. Animals look healthy and happy as any animal can be in captivity. You can walk around any time during the day.
Snowmobile trek to try and see N Lights is a challenge as temp was -15 plus wind chill so pretty cold. Get those foot warmer pads (sold there but take your own as well) and put one on top and one under your foot. Plus hand warmers.
Turns out if you have a good camera with long exposure (5 seconds) you can boost any faint viewings on the horizon. Camp fire and hot juice and sausages cheered us up!
Fabulous adventure. Lots of powdery snow. Combined with a night in Arctic Fox Igloos (you get a transfer from Gulo Gulo) its a total treat.

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay in this area. We only stayed here one night (7th Feb) but since all activities start/finish here, we were on site both days. The venue is exceptionally clean and well laid out, accommodation is accessed via a road underpass, sledges provided for easy transport of your cases. Accomodation very clean and comfortable, kitchen area and sauna. Activities very easy to organise, and a room full of clothing, boots, oversuits etc to borrow as needed, so you keep warm in the winter termperatures. The Ranua Wildlife Park is also accessed on site, very clean and well laid out. Good selection of native animals to see in clean and spacious enclosures. We are already planning to go back.

We had so much fun here. Went with our 4 year old who is already asking when can we return. Apartments are spacious, warm, clean & cosy with wood burning fire, sauna and amazing drying cupboard that dries your gear in minutes! Well equipped kitchen which we used 3 out of 4 evenings.

As previous reviews mention the bus stops at the supermarket on the way so you can do supermarket sweep and grab stuff for snacks, lunches and dinners if easier (with 4 year old so useful to have option of eating in when they’re tired). We grabbed pasta, veg, pizza, crisps, cheese & biscuits And a few bottles of wine for the adults! 😁 best advice is to go with a list of food items already as not loads of time esp if others only going for a couple of nights and not planning on cooking.

Do as many trips as you can they are all such fabulous experiences. We did cross country skiing (mainly falling over and giggling for our son!); Finn horse northern lights safari; Meet the polar bear; husky sledding; reindeer farm on snowmobiles and I did snow shoeing at night. There was a lot of snow when we were there which was fab for looking picturesque and having fun but did mean chance of spotting northern lights less as cloudy. However I was v lucky and saw them for about 10 mins on way back on snow shoe safari. There is always a chance!

Also lovely being so close to the Ranua wildlife park with all the arctic animals. Our son absolutely loved it and we went nearly every day we were there. Good shop next door. There’s also a nice cafe (white swan) with v good coffee & cakes & ice cream for kids. And a chocolate shop Fazer on site yum! 🍫

We were there in feb when it was apparently unusually warm (only a couple of degrees below freezing) so we didn’t need half the clothes we brought. The outer wear, snow boots and gloves they provide are greAt so best thing is to buy a load of thermals from somewhere like mountain warehouse and make sure you have cosy hats that keep your ears warm & snoods (scarves would get in way of suit zips).

They have sledges which you can use to transport kids around and also to have fun on yourself!

We stayed at igloos last night (separate review) and we loved it all will definitely be coming back! Thanks for the adventures!
