Himos Holiday Centre
The winter season in Himos Holiday Centre lasts up to six months, followed by a sunny springtime, a warm and active summer and a colorful autumn. We have developed the Himos Holiday Centre for you as a year-round holidaypark with activities and relaxing holidays for grown-ups as well as for small visitors.
Come, take some time for yourself, your family and friends, experience with us the Finnish nature.
Our apartment was just great and included a private sauna and wood burner for a nice fire in the evening (a full stock of dry wood was available in a shelter). Kitchen equipment was excellent. Rooms were small but comfortable. Two bikes were provided free of charge. I only regret that our dining room had a view on the next building instead of the lake. Otherwise everything was perfect.
We knew that Himos is popular during the winter season, but we didn't realise, that there was no services at all in summer. This is sad beacause all those hundred of cottages and restaurants are staying empty during the summer season. It could be developed into a successful summer resort with its golf course, but that would require some efforts. People will not come when tere is no services and the service providers will stay away as there are no customers - a classic egg/chicken scenario.
It was not the apartment which we get information and there could we not open the windows system and the other bedroom was in upstare and we did not know that and therefore it was very unconfirtable and apartments situation was terrible because it was not the apartment which information we got before
New cottages with all you need. The nearest town with shops is not too far away. You'll find a bigger town Jyväskylä close enough just to visit for one day. The same applies to Mänttä which is even closer and has excellent museums. I recommend to visit those.
A wonderful location for winter holidays. Villas are well furnished and equipped with everything needed even drying machines ensuring nonstop skiing and warm clothes. Skiing slopes are for all levels. Restaurants and cafes provide good service even at peak hours. We would definitely visit again.
"Resort" is a bit overrated description, because there's only cottages and slopes. Range of services is quite limited: downhill skiing, cross-country & golf in summertime. Only a few restaurants in the area (also few in Jämsä city). Cottages are quite new and comfortable. In early season only few slopes are open (western slopes) but yet ski passes are at full price.
Stayed a weekend in Alpphimos cottage with friends. Cottage was for six person and had kitchenette, livingroom with tv, sauna and jacuzzi. Only about 1 km walk to the hotel and Himos center. Great for families who like both summer and winter activities, all near by.
Best skiing slopes in southern Finland below mid-Finland. Enough alternatives, about 15 tracks, but ok profiles are more or less the same, longest slopes are about 700-800m long. No cabin elevators is a minus.
Just happened to choose the wrong period - Christmas 2015 was really boring in Himos. No activities, no snow and restaurants closed. Cottage Himoshovi is comfortable and safe for family with small children. It was good to have sauna in our cottage.
I have visited Himos holiday center annually at summertime with family. It has been obvious that the focus there is in skiing activities at wintertime, but this year it seemed the place was totally closed down for summer. The beach was closed, hotel was closed, restaurants were closed and even the shop was open for a very short time. I love taking hikes at the paths up the hills, but unfortunately they were not taken cared of and the response from maintenance company was unbeliavable when I tried to ask about it; they told me in a most rude kind of way to get lost and slammed the phone on me!!! Unforgiveable! Himos is a beautiful place, but should have more to offer for summertime or then they just should close it for summer.
