There has clearly been some effort put into improvements but in a haphazard way. A posh reception area (not staffed so you need to go to a busy bar to check in), well decorated room but no heating (cold at night despite asking the staff to fix) and a back office where you pay that looks as though its been...

The poor standard of accommodation does not merit the price of £75.00 per night.Pay a bit extra and stay down at the hotels at the harbour. We had a very small room with a sea view but the windows were screwed shut, literally!!!! Torn wallpaper covered with masking tape, 3 holes on the bath rim, unsecured toilet bowl, no telephone in...

I visit Stonehaven on a regular basis to visit friends and pop in to The Royal for breakfast but from now on I will take my business elsewhere. I ordered a simple breakfast of scrambled egg and beans on toast (beans on 2 eggs on 1) . What I got from the waitress was a plate of eggs, a stack...

We have sampled the food several times on visiting Stonehaven and have never been disappointed, The food is always hot and well cooked, the staff are efficient and friendly and willing to advise. All items are reasonably priced and large portions. The bar is well stocked and functional. The bar and restaurant are clean and tidy but a bit dated....

Visited with friends, maybe went the wrong day, no specials on offer and a number of items from the main menu were not available, also the draught ale was out of stock. Everyone in our party seemed to enjoy what was on offer, simple pub style food. The staff were attentive.

We had the 6 course dinner at the Royal before going to the simple minds concert in the square and the food and service was superb - they were so busy with people that night but the staff did an excellent job to deliver a high quality service. Would definitely go back and highly recommendable Excellent value and Well done!

Booked a year in advance for Hogmonay at the Royal as a party of 14 and was impressed by the attention of the staff who could not have been more helpful. As the hotel was in the centre of the celebrations it was very busy the service was first class. The bedrooms were adequate and functional although a new carpet...

Had an early dinner on a weeknight in this restaurant. There weren't that many tables available so we had to settle for a booth with a high chair on the end of the table, which was okay except for the fact that every time someone opened the front door a really cold draft came, chilling us all including our baby....

Hotel was booked through my work's trip service, had hoped to stay elsewhere but all fully booked. The Royal is undergoing some refurbishment and scaffolding to the front obscures the hotel name making it difficult to locate. Check in is at the bar which I only knew due to looking at reviews here. Was shown where free parking is located...

Hubby and I stayed for the weekend with toddler. We were on a special deal after a fluff up on our summer booking.... got a big room with sea views and huge bed, really comfy, but a bit soulless..
