In the hart of the village of Valognes, this old house offers 2/3 comfortables bedrooms. The hosts are very welcoming and will take very good care of you while staying at their place. The breakfast is excellent and includes toasts, fresh croissants/brioches. You will be offered bio yogurt and home made jams and you will enjoy your breakfast in a very old room with beautiful stones on the floor and on the wall. Should you happen to look for a place in Valognes, this is the place to go!
We stayed in this charming B&B during the 75th D-Day commemoration with my family of four. We found the two bedroom suite to be quaint and charming with plenty of room. The bathroom was also very spacious clean and modern. Our hosts worked diligently to ensure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. The rooms were large with closets along with tables and chairs to sit and lounge. There were even some toys in one of the closets our 10 year old played with daily. Unfortunately, we could not really avail ourselves to the courtyard because of the weather, instead taking our morning meal in the dinning room. Breakfast was french continental and ready for us every morning. I am sure we did not make this easy for them as we had kids and were dealing with jet lag. Fresh juice, jams, crepes, croissants, yogurt, compote, cereal, and coffee. The hotel is centrally located in Valognes with many restaurants and shops within walking distance from the hotel. We had rented a car from Paris and parking was on the street around the corner and never had difficulty finding a parking space, even later in the evening. There is an access drive so we could drop off and load our bags.…
I cannot believe how wonderful this place is. The rooms are wonderful with sumptuous beds and the breakfasts are superb with locally sourced organic produce. The couple running it could not be more helpful! There is a lovely garden for breakfast when the weather is good. I cannot recommend this place sufficiently.
Why not try the Poole to Cherbourg channel crossing? Fabulous boat with all the facilities you could ever want. When you arrive in Cherbourg a short drive gets you to the little village of Valognes. Book up to stay with Sylvie at La Closerie d'Azelie , wander the little town and make some new friends. You won't regret it it's a real treat. Don't do what we did and come back to England with their front door key! It was easily sorted and we logged it as another memorable trip.
