Amazing food. Some of the best I've tried in all of Ecuador. And great setting. Really beautiful nature and space. When I was there there was a business dinner and it was fancy, great staff, and fast service. I enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend it for events and business!!

After wandering around Zamora looking for good place to stay overnight, a friendly cab driver took us out to El Arenal. The moment we drove into the beautiful grounds, we knew this place was special. The owner Umberto, his wife and the rest of the staff immediately made us feel right at home. The grounds are beautiful. The food was...

I stayed for 2 days and birded the area. My room was clean and comfortable. The owners are great hosts and very helpful. I will return to this hotel soon. I very much liked the food as well. Good meals and a wonderful breakfast. For birding cross the street and take the suspension bridge and stay to the right.

I came to Zamora expecting to stay in a very average hotel in the centre of town. Fortunately, I was recommended El Arenal by a colleague. El Arenal is located in a town called Cumbaratza, between Zamora and Yantzaza. I was greeted by a friendly management and staff, who were extremely helpful in assisting me. The place is quiet, safe...

My wife and I stayed here for a night with our three children (ages 1, 3, and 7). The hotel is very family friendly. We couldn't get our kids out of the pool! The twisting waterslide is about 100 feet long with a 30 foot drop. My 7 year old used it for four hours straight. I was also surprised...

The acres of grounds, many ponds, and varied vegetation - from a jungle ravine, to open pastures, to managed pond sites, to manicured gardens, result in probably the best birding in the area, although another hosteria is the one in the area that is famous for birding. Arenal's restaurant is very good, serving fish raised in their ponds and cheese...

Our group of 16 young people and adults stayed at Hosteria El Arenal for 5 days. We loved it! Especially Maria Mercedes, our smiling young hostess, the daughter of the owners and the chef who always came out to ask us what we wanted for dinner. We loved the clean rooms, the nice beds, the waterslide, the pool, the food,...

We were there analyzing the real possibilities of developing tourism in a wonderful and nice area in the province of Zamora Chinchipe. I can tell you that Don Humberto and his nice daughter M. Mercedes are there to help you. He showed us the tilapia fisheries and explained us the whole process from the moment they started in a pool...

Spent one day and night, should have allowed more time. Beautiful setting, helpful staff, nice pool, just a wonderful place to unwind in the jungle. We are not hikers but if you are there are plenty of opportunities. Friends went rafting while we sat and enjoyed just relaxing.

With fabulous views, a great pool, tasty food and very welcoming owners, this hostel gets a big thumbs up! It is a little out of town but only $5 to get into Zamora or 15 mins in your car. Ideal for Podocarpus National Park and exploring the beauty of the area.
