It’s always difficult staying in a foreign country, where you don’t speak the language, having spent so much time in the resorts of Spain, Portugal, and Greece where just about everyone is fluent in English apart from the occasional Scouser. You have an expectation that everyone will be able to communicate in English. The breakfasts are totally alien to what you get in your big AI in the beach countries, but what there was on offer was more than pleasant to eat, the breakfast room was stunning with as you would expect spotlessly clean table clothes and napkins, as was the cutlery and plates. In the bedrooms, the bathroom was large with modern fittings and a lovely shower. The bed was wide and comfortable, the safe, the mini bar and storage space was more than adequate for a short stay. Sad to say some of the bedroom furniture and carpet was a bit tired, the only downside to giving the hotel the five stars it probably deserved. We were never in the hotel long enough to try the facilities of the Wellness Spa. Which looked from what little I saw would have been enjoyable. The views from the bedroom were beautiful, but sadly hardly visible on a grey November day, although on departure day they did look stunning across to the hills which I imagine was Slovenia. The cordial welcome from mine host and the cleanliness maintained by the cleaning staff exemplary.…
Outstanding group dinner prepared with obvious care and pride. The pumpkin nocci with smoked mozzarella was the best and most delicate ever, beef Langobarda was a delicious treat, soups and salads we enjoyed during our two night stay were a consistent delight. The spa is well run, clean, and private; massages were top notch.
This old monastery converted into a hotel is situated up on a hill. We had a very nice stay here. The rooms are a little dated but this is part of the charm. The owner/manager does not speak English but then again I don't speak Italian. However i found him to be helpful and friendly. Communicating with someone without speaking the same language is part of the travel experience. Meals were very nice at the restaurant. There is an indoor pool and sun lounges in a small outdoor area. Its a bit of a walk into town for other eating options so it may be easier if you have a car.
Comfortable bed, big room with modern refurbished bathroom and excellent shower. Air Con worked ok but struggled with the high outdoor temperatures. Staff ok - not super friendly but service was good. Breakfast was good. Did not try wellness centre but it looked good.
My friend and I were here for two nights. The food was outstanding- definitely those Michelin stars were earned. The family beautiful & ever helpful. Our only trouble was with no AC - we opened the windows and enjoyed the breeze. A great spot above the town but a quick walk into it.
