Went for Afternoon Tea for my birthday and it was lovely. It was a sunny day and we sat outside in the beautiful surroundings. Staff were really nice and polite. We had a good variety of sandwiches, cakes and scones. I would highly recommend this place. Definitely will be visiting again soon.

We had an absolutely enormous room in the main house, Portico. Perfect for our family of 3, huge beds for all of us, seating area, lovely shower room. Everything was clean, staff were helpful and the setting is simply beautiful. We walked around the grounds, over to the university, sat on the lawn with cocktails -perfect. And excellent value for money.

From start to finish, we had a marvellous stay. On check in, we were very impressed on the Covid security - the credit card terminal was wiped, as were our room cards, with anti-bac wipes. The receptionist was behind a Perspex screen, but that in no way compromised the situation; on the contrary, it made us feel safe in what was our first trip away since the start of the initial lockdown in March 2020. All members of staff wore masks at all times. Our room was lovely, with a very large balcony. Shower room was pristine and well appointed, although one of the bathroom mirror lights didn’t work, but it didn’t cause us a problem, really. We had a delicious lunch in the garden, a club sandwich with fries and a drink - very reasonably priced. We had two dinners and two breakfasts, all of which were beautifully presented, and delicious. One of this hotel’s USPs is their staff - everyone, and I do mean everyone, is so friendly. Of particular note are Phoebe and Katy in The Brasserie. This will now be our go to place to stay, when we don’t want to travel too far from home. There are walks around he grounds and lots to do in the area. Thank you, to everyone at Wivenhoe House Hotel, we’re already looking forward to a return visit.

What a wonderful review, thank you. We have been praised for our COVID Secure measures that we continue to practice and I am so pleased that these are being recognised. My team, however, do understand that we still need to provide wonderful service and are doing such a great job at it. Thank you for pointing out Pheobe and Katy, 2 of our great team here. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Regards Oliver J. Q. Brown General Manager
