Detailed Reviews
I enjoyed my few days in Kilmore Quay and was very happy and comfortable in The Coast. I found all the staff extremely welcoming and they went out of their way to make my stay the best it could be.
The room was clean and very comfortable and I slept very well. The bathroom was very small and the shower left a lot to be desired, bur in the whole I was happy enough with the place and would be more than willing to stay here again.
The bar is really cosy and the food served in the evenings is top notch. Breakfast is excellent too, though I felt it would've been nice if it included.
Plenty of parking including right outside your room as the place is Anerican motel style with all the rooms (as far as ai could see) being separate from the main building with the reception and the bar, and opening onto the outside.
Their best asset is their friendly staff and how you are made to feel at home.

Very disappointed in the accommodation at The Coast. Our room was very dark, dingy and badly in need of a makeover. Dark grey walls, furniture, carpet even the artex ceiling got the dark grey paint treatment. Bathroom was dingy with mould on the shower. It would have been fine at €100 -€110 but €179 per night was way over priced. On the plus side, the main hotel was gorgeous, beautifully decorated and the outdoor decking area was lovely. It's in a great location with a nice stroll into town. Breakfast was delicious and staff were very friendly. I suspect The Coast is a work in progress and they will eventually bring the rooms up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel. The room prices should be drastically reduced until that work is done.

You could miss this very early. The Coast is very well positioned on the main road just at the edge of town. This hotel is strange in Ireland as it looks like a Motel, rooms has access to the carpark and a main block containing reception/bar/restaurant.
Rooms are lovely and very well appointed, very good food is served in the bar until 20.00hrs.
The hotel is very good value and offers several deals

We had a very unsatisfactory one night stay here. To start with the positives - the room was spacious and the bed comfortable but the battleship grey decor was depressing and the carpet had seen better days. We were pleased to see the blackout quality blind but less pleased to find that the mechanism for raising and lowering it was broken
The shower room was small and unheated. The washbasin had no plug. The shower cubicle needed a good clean and the tiling needed re-grouting and in one area replacing. Sleep was compromised by a mechanical whining sound which persisted all night. The staff at reception were unwelcoming and in the restaurant (except at breakfast) offhand. The restaurant menu was extremely limited and bore no resemblance to the one in the bedroom. Neither was anything like the one we saw online. The mains were either fried or curries and curry was the only way to avoid chips. Whatever the 'scampi' were they were tasteless and soggy and we doubted that they had much to do with prawns. We didn't bother with desserts. In fairness the breakfast (involving an extra charge) was fine if not generous and the waiter very pleasant. But we left feeling we'd had poor value and service.

Stayed at this hotel last night and I can say without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences ever. This was a motel much like a super 8 in USA, but certainly didn’t represent their cheap price. I was astounded at the price of £129 for room without breakfast. What they didn’t tell us!! it was a room with out heat, without bath, without view, without tv channels, without phone etc etc etc. The decor was depressing with every inch of space covered in a dark dismal grey and only a bright ceiling light that showed how cold and unwelcoming it was. The shower room was so small it could take no more than one person and I dread to think how we would have managed if either my partner or I were carrying any weight. The only good thing I can say about our stay here was leaving the next morning and knowing I never have to return.

Stayed two nights in the Coast.
Room was comfortable and Clean. Bathroom or should I say Shower very small. For a larger person.impossible to bend down .
The Hotel had only changed ownership the day we booked in.
Manager very Pleasant gentleman as we're all the staff we met.
Had Afternoon Tea which we booked in advance on first day. Excellent selection of en Sambos.scones. and cakes. great value and god quality.
Ate in bar second day and quality of food was reasonable..As this s a fishing village they could offer some more Seafood dishes.
Breakfast was of god quality and quantity.
I believe this could be a success for the new owner and Staff. If they make improvements to the bathrooms.and also increase the availability of Seafood.

We had dinner here last week and it was lovely. Lovely professional chap (Portugese) served us. I had the fish special which was beautiful and the chips were cooked to perfection. Crisp on outside and fluffy in the middle. Hubby had the prawn curry which he really enjoyed. Lovely food/great service/reasonable price.

Had 2 nights booked here for the end of August was looking forward to staying in Kilmore Quay. Turned up checked in drove around to room. On parking in front of the room could see how dirty the outside of the window was. On entering the room there was a very stale musty smell. Bathroom was tiny. Woodwork around the bed was so dusty couldn’t believe how dusty it was especially in the time of living with Covid. The inside of the bedroom window was just filthy and the blind didn’t work properly. Woodwork in the room painted a horrible dark grey & looked cheaply done dark grey wallpaper also poorly done and not nice. Room just was dark, dirty & grim. We actually couldn’t stay it was so bad we went back around and checked out. Really need to upgrade their rooms & also upgrade their cleaning.

I would advise fellow travellers to take poor reviews of this Hotel with a grain of salt.
Myself and my wife stayed here yesterday, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The Hotel is perfectly situated in the beautiful seaside Fishing Port of Kilmore Quay.
The Hotel staff are brilliant, friendly ,helpful, and warm. We had dinner Bed and Breakfast. Dinner was lovely,i had a perfectly cooked Sirloin steak and K had Fresh Hake and chips. Breakfast was cooked to order, and was very tasty indeed.
The Bedrooms are Chalet style and ours was absolutely fine. The only minor complaint would be the size of the bathroom and shower. This is a 3* Hotel and in my opinion a very good 3* Hotel. Would i stay again, i most definately will next Spring. Thanks Kevin, you are a perfect host.
