Enjoyed our stay here for 2 nights walking and driving around the cottages, woods, enjoying our trek and sitting at the frozen river about 100 meters in front of the accommodation. There was sauna facility available too. It took us about 2 hours drive from Helsinki city centre. We stayed in a studio with a kitchenette in it, and without an oven as we didn’t ask for one. The room was clean and with a nice view from the window. We cooked most of our meals in there as no there was eatery close by unless you order in advance with the resort or drive about 30 minutes to the nearest mall. There was a heater in the room too. The WiFi connection was strong throughout our stay. As it was a low season, we were the only guests around. The surrounding was serene and quiet and we would want to return at a different season, staying at one of the cottages right by the river with the resort. …
"Yli-Kaitalan Lomamökit" is a countryside family business in holiday cottage industry. We had a really relaxing marriage weekend among beautiful lakeside scenery. Special thanks goes to the staff which stretched because of our schedule, exemplary service! 5/5 :)
A wonderful place in a tremendous countryside location among spectacular Finnish lakes. Perfect nature, loneliness (cottages are located well far from each other). Each cottage has a sauna, generally even two of them - plenty of wood provided to keep it warm. Easily accessible by car. A boat is provided to explore vicinities, and other amenities are here on request. However, the right thing to do is just to stay here for several days and relax. The hosts are more than welcoming, and you can expect everything to be just all right.
We spent this Christmas and a couple of days more at Yli-Kaitala. Kurkilinna is the name of the log castle. A lot of space: 3 bedrooms. Two of them for two and one for four. Additionally there would be found space for a couple of extra people. Three terraces, view to the lake. Completely equipped. Even Christmas decoration and tree waited for us. Kitchen and tableware at least for 12 people. Of course sauna with lot of space also in it. Pleasant and nice time for leisure. Skiing and ridin a sledge would have been possible. Now out outdoor activities was snow work. In summertime it is possible to go directly for swimming into the lake. You would have your own peer.
I have had the pleasure of staying in Yli-Kaitala's cottages for six times and I can assure you: It doesn't get more relaxing or serene. I've always been at the Joutsenlampi-cottage because it is superbly equipped, whether you like to stay inside or explore outside. Joutsenlampi has it all: room for 13 people, big wood-heating sauna (fits easily 9-12 persons), jacuzzi for five, two showers, 2 bathrooms, big kitchen with everything you need and a private access to a 10 hectare lake. I keep coming back because there's nothing remotely close like this. A true gem just 150km north from Helsinki. If you are ever in Finland and have a free weekend, you should definately visit Yli-Kaitala's website and book yourself a weekend in one the cottages. I swear you'll love it!
We had a very peaceful, relaxing time at a 5-bed cottage with a separate sauna building. It was quite remote but only a couple of hours drive from Helsinki. The cottage had a great view over the lake, well-equipped kitchen, good surround sound system, big fireplace, 2 wood-burning saunas and a massive log store. The lake is very clean and has a gradual slope so good for children. We used the fishing rods and boat one afternoon and had plenty of fun catching some pike (which we threw it back in..!) Virpi and Markku looked after us very well throughout the stay. All in all a great week away, we came away feeling very refreshed.
The Yli-Kaitala cottages are set in a beautiful Finnish countryside. Our visit was in the middle of the winter and the scenery was stunning with lots of snow. Especially the views across the frozen lake were to die for. The staff at Yli-Kaitala are really friendly and helpful and the cottage we stayed at was superb. Couldn't have asked for more! Had a most enjoyable visit, would highly recommend.
We had big cottage for rent with our friends. We spend the weekend swimming, barbecue, enjoying the peace and quiet and off course sauna and jacuzzi as well. Cottage was clean, well equipped and in a good location. Can recommend to everyone!
I have stayed in Yli-Kaitala twice. Once a few years ago when our company arranged a meeting and stayed over the weekend there, and now on spring 2011 I stayed there on a private holiday. Both times the service and the quality of the accommodation have been excellent. The cottages are clean and nicely furnished (all facilities you can imagine) and Markku and Virpi Yli-Kaitala are very friendly and welcoming.
