Finished our walking holiday off here with a fabulously chilled two night stay.Lovely countryside setting and all you hear are the sounds of nature,Rooms were large with a minimalist modern style which strangely worked in this rural setting, lots of space with plenty seating inside and outside ,large bathroom and all one needs to make your stay comfortable. Fabulous central area that includes honesty bar and kitchen inside and outside dinning areas and a large semi enclosed lounge area with log burner for the colder nights.Beakfast was a real tour de force and was served at a prearranged time of your choice between 9 to 11.We had dinner included in our stay and both nights were very good with very hearty Portuguese choices. All staff we came in contact with were friendly ,welcoming and attentive to our needs.Lovely hidden pool and sun bathing area which also includes a small sauna all in all a lovely place to spend time.…
Wonderful place to relax and enjoy the Alentejo atmosphere. We quite liked the minimalist concrete room and loved the colonial chic of the communal lounges. This was the last place we stayed on our Vicentina coastal hike and is a very close second...almost equal first! We just felt our “welcome” when we were collected and taken to the hotel was not great and we felt very rushed as we were shown around. Nothing was really explained...and this resulted In a poor first night as we waited for dinner unnoticed and then had an extremely noisy ceiling fan which we couldn’t work out how to regulate. We couldn’t just switch it off as it was too hot. There was an unmanned reception with a number to ring but with the language barrier we thought it was easier to text our issues. We didn’t get a response but the next morning at breakfast the ownerBalthazar made himself known to us and discussed our issues. He was very professional and kindly explained things and helped us decide on a local hike for our “free” day. From that point everything was so much better not least a lower rate fan so no noise ( the control was in the fuse box...) and a good nights sleep. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent and more than enough! Would highly recommend - just don’t be afraid to ask if there are issues and ask for Balthazar if necessary.…
Only stayed for one night but we enjoyed the surroundings and the hotel itself a lot. Basic, in a good way, and very stylish infrastructures which remind of South-African lodges. The complex is nicely designed and feels airy. All inside areas were spotless. Our evening meal was excellent and paired with very good red wine (2018 Herdade do Sobroso). Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality.
My partner and I stayed only one night but we wished we could have stayed longer. The owner Balthazar was professional and personable. The resort had a warm charm and very relaxing. The food was basic and surprisingly delicious. The rooms were a bit small but everything else at this resort made up for it. I would highly recommend it and be prepared to extend your stay there...if it is not full.
We spent the last night of a walking holiday here. We lost our way and the manager/owner was kind enough to come and pick us up. Very helpful. In very large grounds with a lot of cows, donkeys and the odd ostrich. It is quite a stark, minimalist building and the rooms were concrete, bare and spacious. Not to my taste but very clean. The gardens were a little overrun and needed some work. There is an honesty bar, a lounge area and the dinner was good.
