We visited on a very busy Thursday lunchtime as a family group with a mixture of very young children through to grandparents. First impressions where a little jaded as the car park seems very unwelcoming, with many signs warning of registration recognition cameras and expensive late staying fines. But we persevered as we had already booked a table. The pub...

Good Morning Splodge2001, I am so pleased to know that you had an enjoyable visit to us and that Maggie had you hooked. I apologise that you were not overly pleased with the carpark, we have had the parking system installed so that customers as yourself are able to use our parking facilities as before they were being abused. We...

My daughter went there for a meal and had no complaints until she went to the car park to find a parking invoice on her car for £100. If the owners know about this then they are nothing more than criminals and if they don't, then they are either very naïve or extremely careless. Shocking end to what should have...

Hi Macca1967. Could you please call us on 01458442021 at your earliest convenience to discuss the matter with us, as our car park is monitored by Parking Eye, whom do not issue notices directly onto any cars whilst they are in the car park. It may be that your daughter has parked in another car park, and thus received a...

Once again my husband and I enjoyed dinner here. The Bear is one of our favourite places to eat and once again we were not disapointed. An extensive menu and very friendly helpful staff. The one criticism that prevented being awarded a five star review was the price of a single mushroom. I asked for an extra side of mushrooms,...

Good Morning Maxine R, I am sorry to read about the Mushroom incident. I think our kitchen team must have read the ticket incorrectly and sent out an extra mushroom as apposed to a side of mushrooms. I will make sure they double check their tickets in future. I am so pleased to read that other than this minor problem...

Located right opposite the (Quaker) Clarks' factory, the inn started life as a temperance hotel - it now has an alcohol licence and is part of the Marston's group. We're familiar with the new(and excellent) Generous George Marston's pub in Ashington, Northumberland, so on our holiday booked an overnight stay at the Bear as a comparison, and because I'm a Quaker...

Very well presented Inn both inside and out, even at this time of year the grounds look fabulous and love the huge maple leaf bear. The staff food and ambience could not be faulted. Well done ! Hope to come back again soon and bring friends, great place to socialise.

Firstly lovely location for a weekend shopping trip with very helpful and friendly staff. We stayed one night with family in 3 rooms and sadly were disappapointed with the rooms. The Pub atmosphere with free parking, staff, food, especially breakfast was all really very good and up to the standard you would expect. However the rooms were cold and the...

Came down the bear for a pint of lemonade with some good friends, ended up having a bite to eat and it was the best chicken I've ever eaten! Maggie the waitress/barmaid was absolutely spot on, hugely beneficial to the company and any pub would be lucky to have someone like that :) Little JJ , street

Good Afternoon Martin H, Blossom cottages are very large rooms and I am glad you found our pricing good. These are located across the road but they are quiet as set back and have parking right outside. We hope you enjoyed the carnival (despite the rain!) and will come again next year Thank you Jo Shopland General Manager

I booked a room online. The pics looked quaint and the price was within the £60 limit allowed by my company. This included breakfast so looked good value for money. Hi Gavin H, When a room is booked online, they auto-allocate to the Blossom Cottages first and then work up to the main building depending on availability and room requirements.
