We enjoyed our two-day stay at the Star Inn. The inn is located close to airport but you will need a car to get into Inverness town. The hotel offers a shuttle service into town but unfortunately on the days we were there, this was not available. If you like sparkles and bling, you will love the room decor. Good breakfast selection - but be aware that if you go for the full Scottish option, the portion is rather big. We also had dinner at the restaurant on the first night. The portion sizes were way too big for us... but food was lovely.
We stayed here for one night as it was very convenient for Inverness Airport. The rooms are over the road from the inn, in a recently refurbished building. There was great attention to detail. The bed was very comfortable, there was an excellent walk -in shower, toiletries better than most, bathrobes and slippers provided, also an iron and ironing board. Everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We had the best breakfast of our holiday. Plenty of fresh fruit, nuts, hot croissants, and a great cooked breakfast too if you wanted it. Our evening meal was also very good. Highly recommended altogether. It was excellent value at £100 B and B for a double room.
The rooms are across the street from the restaurant and check-in. We had a second floor room with good views of the main (small town) street. Breakfast was the usual full Scottish. The room, admirably, had a lot of art not usually found in hotel rooms; the art itself was less to our liking -- lots of glitter on furniture/in pictures, for instance. We used the ATM at a convenience store across the way. The town is well located for visits to Inverness, Culloden battlefield, and Kilravock, the Rose castle and arboretum.
My husband & I stayed here for a few nights in June. What a lovely place & amazing hospitality. We had a very large room with one bed (queen I think) & a large posh bathroom. We were very comfortable. The included breakfast was brilliant: continental options plus full Scottish cooked to order. The breakfasts set us up well for the day. We also dined in the restaurant one evening and both our meals were exceptionally good. The evening meal prices were extremely reasonable and the food fresh and beautifully prepared. Meals we had further south in Scotland & England couldn't hold a candle. The only minor suggestion I would make regarding the room (and this doesn't change my rating) is that I would find a milder room fragrance/deodorizer as I found the one in use a bit…
Stayed at Star Inn having completed the final leg of cycling LEJOG - 67 miles from Bettyhill to John O’Groats and finishing in Wick. This was followed by a 3 hour drive to the Stsr Inn. Well, what a fantastic place. Really helpful and friendly staff, fantastic and luxurious accommodation, great beer and wine and excellent food - venison was superb !!
