Detailed Reviews
We traveled across Ireland for 2 weeks covering most of the country and staying in many B and B. Dun Ard was among my favorites. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the bathroom gorgeous, our host Joe was great to chat with and the breakfasts were delicious, despite never getting to lay eyes on the busy cook, who stayed in the kitchen. There was a pub across the road and a quick hop over a stone wall which was also a local delight. We would definitely return.

We were a bit apprehensive about saying in a B&B as we had never done so before, so after booking our room I emailed the host to explain this and ask about taxis and buses into Dungarvan.
Joe was very quick to respond, had a copy of the bus timetables printed off and had contacted a local taxi service for us.
When we arrived, Joe asked us about our dinner arrangements and gave us some recommendations that really helped and because of this we actually had a great night! We had asked where can we go for dinner and drinks- he told us to drive to the castle, its free parking so we can collect it in the morning, then the Cookhouse restaurant is there with picnic tables out the front. We ended up doing this and keep in mind this is during covid times so we were not expecting a night out!
Bed was sooo comfy. This was probably the best part of our stay.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely too. Big pot of coffee which is great when you're a caffeine addict like me!
Location wise, yes you have to drive to Dungarvan or get a bus /taxi. Up to you if that's a deal breaker but it wasn't a big deal for us so don't let that put you off! Be sure to book taxis early as they can get busy on weekends.

Spotlessly clean house in a quiet cul de sac with a beautiful view. The bedroom was very comfortable & had a large ensuite with 2 washhand basins & a bath. The breakfast was delicious. We were greeted by Joe on arrival who was very helpful & recommended places to eat. I look forward to staying at Dun Ard in the future. Many thanks, Marie

Our first Bread & Breakfast on our road trip around Ireland was Dun Ard in Dungarvan. The cottage had a great view of Dungarvan Harbor. Entering we were greeted by our host Joe and directed to our en suit room. We paused on the way to admire Joe's great collection of Waterford crystal. Joe and Anne's collection were displayed throughout their home. Our room was very spacious and included skylights that provided abundant light and a cool breeze. The bath was just as spacious with nice extras of double sinks, grand soaking tub and large shower. I especially liked the unusual square toilet. For dinner, Joe directed us a short distance to the great restaurants and pubs in Dungarvan Harbor. After a welcomed and relaxed night on the spacious bed with an abundance of pillows, we were invited into their wonderfully cozy dinning room for breakfast. I must say, it was the finest and most romantic breakfast we've ever enjoyed! Beautiful decor with curios of beautiful Waterford crystal that included, my favorite, a rare crystal piano. Included was wonderful soft Irish music to set the mood. Anne provided us with a true Irish breakfast that included Irish bacon, orange marmalade and great coffee all served on linen table cloth and napkins. This was a wonderful, unforgettable experience that set the bar for our next six nights as we continued our tour. Joe and Anne were exceptional host that gave us a feeling of staying with family!

Dún Árd is a stunning B&B, beautifully located in the heart of the Gaeltacht na nDéise in Ring, Co. Waterford. It is decorated to a VERY high standard and is immaculately clean. The owners, Anne and Joe Brennan, are two of the most welcoming, friendliest and sociable people I've met while holidaying. The breakfasts were fantastic, cooked to perfection, using very high quality ingredients and presented beautifully.
The location is absolutely ideal for exploring Co. Waterford, East Cork and South Tipperary.
Absolutey will stay at Dún Árd again, at the first opportunity.

Honestly would stay here ahead of any other hotel in dungarvan. Owners are not imposing, room was divine and breakfast was great. Breakfast was required gluten free and owners were more than accommodating. All COVID measures strictly adhered to, felt safe and comfortable all trip. Absolutely fabulous spot!!

We enjoyed a wonderfully restful and relaxing one night stay at Dun Ard Bed and breakfast. The house is stunning and the room was beautifully decorated including immaculate cream carpet,! loved the jacuzzi bath... Lovely view of Dungarvan Bay from our room. Hosts Joe and Anne were most helpful re restaurants in the nearby foodie town of Dungarvan etc. . We so enjoyed our delicious freshly cooked breakfast. A Bed and Breakfast of the very highest standard, a place not to be missed.. Look forward to a return trip.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Dún Ard! We were able to find it easily as there is a small sign out front identifying the B&B, and parking was no hassle. The host, Joe, was welcoming on arrival and provided local recommendations. The B&B was very clean and quiet, and we had a very filling breakfast in the morning!

We selected 'Dun Ard' as it was marketed as a 5 star BnB with a satisfaction rating of 9.2 on the well-known booking website. It was to be our treat; an opportunity to have a relaxing overnight in the pretty Ringville area outside Dungarvan.
'Corner cutting' experiences: we firstly struggled to find the home which did not have any signage outside. Arriving at check-in time, we climbed the stairs up to the front door to discover that no-one was at home. The owner (over an hour away) answered my call - blaming the booking organisation for a miscommunication regarding his absence. We worked out how to enter the home using a keypad. Our room on the 1st floor was of a fair size, with a large bathroom area. The owner arrived whilst we went out for a short drive - beautiful countryside! Apart from the room - I did not find nor was shown a lounging / relaxation area in the home. The owner asked if we wanted milk (?) - to go with tea or coffee. My expectation was that this is provided along with the coffee, tea and sugar: considering the 5 star status advertised. The bath had a written sign: 'out of order'. I subsequently read a review posted in August also saying that this was the case. We received no anticipatory apology from the owner regarding this. An open carafe of unpalatable 'earthy' tasting water was on a side table. Suggestion: provide bottled water for guests. The bathroom was relatively dark and the large mirror above the washbasin had a sign indicating a 'switch' for the hidden lighting. This did not work! I brushed my teeth and shaved in semi-darkness - despite a single recessed ceiling bulb. The TV's laminated handout spoke of a 'firestick' with which to access programs such as: Youtube, Netflix etc. This was nowhere to be found. On enquiry: former guests were blamed for its disappearance and he'd 'try find one - but cannot promise anything'! He returned 15 minutes later with a 'firestick' (voila!) and proceeded to set it up while we patiently waited. The room provided little in the line of insulation with a full household - hearing conversations: in the hallway and in the adjoining room and intermittent coughing ... till I fitfully fell asleep. I woke up to more coughing noises.
5 star quality? First morning shower: lukewarm water at best; 2nd shower: cold!
The breakfast was really good.
On departure, I responded to a question from the host regarding our stay, by indicating that there were 'a number of things that were not 100%'! He did not pursue my comment.

Dun Ard is the most exquisite B&B I've stayed in. The setting is fabulous, out in the beautiful Ring and only a short drive from Dungarvan. The rooms are well designed, extremely comfortable and well equipped. I really enjoyed the home made brown bread and freshly cooked breakfast, it really set us up for the day. Joe was helping is his recommendations and suggestions. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to return again.

Agree with Farleygirl - there is a pub/restaurant very close (2 mins walk) but Dun Ard town center is not walkable.
