Detailed Reviews
I have been lucky enough to stay here twice and I can highly recommend
it. The Coach House is about 10 minutes drive from Waterford and
situated in a quiet country lane with views towards Waterford and the
surrounding countryside.
The Coach House is a very well appointed B&B in quiet, peaceful
surroundings. There is a very luxurious residents lounge, with open fire,
books, games and comfy chesterfields (but, thankfully, no television). The
rooms are quite large and (I think) all are ensuite. with the usual
facilities.
The hosts are friendly and helpful and can provide you with all sorts
of ideas for visiting local attractions and restaurants.
I stayed the first time by chance, the second time, by choice. And if I
get the chance to go back to Ireland again, I would hope to go back
there again.

The Coach House is just off the beaten path but really is a great place to stay at and visit the local sites in and around Waterford. We were treated with tea upon arrival and given a very warm welcome. Our room was fantastic and comfortable. Nice view of the old ruins on the property. Breakfast was tasty and we tried a few things new which added to the morning start. The gardens are beautiful around the property and our host was more than happy to share his suggestions of things to do and visit for the day. All in all The Coach House is a great place to stay if you are in the south of Ireland. We recommend it highly.

I brought my parents on their first trip to Ireland and we decided to stay in a variety of accommodations. The Coach House was located about 15-20 minutes from Waterford City Centre and was run by a great innkeeper Des. He greeted us upon arrival and showed us our rooms. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious as were the en suite bathrooms. A small wet bar and a lit fire awaited us in the common areas and allowed us to settle in for the evening. The Coach House is built in the shadows of a castle ruin and has beautiful garden and places to explore on the grounds.
A continental or full Irish breakfast are available in the morning and was delicious. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quaint place away from the bustle of tourists.

On arrival we were invited to have tea (or coffee) in the walled garden. Before sunset we walked around the grounds and through the castle ruins. Our room was a good size, nicely furnished and looked out to the castle. It was just like being asked to stay in a friends house which was beautifully furnished. The breakfast which you paid extra for, either continental or full Irish was delicious. It was also an easy trip into Waterford especially as we were there for the August Bank holiday Street Arts Festival.

We recently spent a couple of nights here (mid-week break) & it was just the most relaxing places to be! The owner, Des, was a total gent, very friendly, helpful & full of suggestions of places to eat (as well as various menus to look at) and visit. We were greeted with tea on arrival, which was nice after a long drive. The Coach House has been lovingly restored (check out the "before" & "after" photo album in the living room of this stunning renovation. As it was a bit late, Des suggested the Holy Cross pub 2 mins down the road. We weren't disappointed! Lovely food & friendly staff. The bedrooms (en-suite) are very comfortable & have everything you need - tea/coffee-making facilities, ironing board, TV, free wii-fi. The breakfast was delicious (full Irish for me & continental for himself). There is a wonderful ruin of an old manor-style house in the grounds (I love ruins!). This place is a wonderful base, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Tramore is a short drive in one direction & Waterford is only 10 minutes in the other direction. A drive along the Copper Coast is a must. The coast roads are fabulous for exploring and the beaches had surfers & kite surfers making the most of the waves. Des suggested Mount Congreve gardens about 5 mins drive away. We weren't disappointed (himself is a keen gardener). It has 16km of walks, a lovely walled fruit & veg garden, ponds, woodland walks & surprises along the way, a lovely coffee shop with some local crafts also on site. We had a lovely chat with Des about the renovations & the only regret is that we didn't stay longer & meet the cat! Maybe next time!

Beautiful historical home and wonderful renovations done by the owners. Loved the before and after photos. We were truly impressed with Des' restoration of the Coach House. Excellent night's sleep and wonderful full Irish Breakfast. So much history about the home and the grounds. The best B&B at which we stayed during our entire trip. Wished we could have stayed a few more nights.

We stayed 2 nights but would have been great to stay longer. The surrounds of the property and history of The Coach House was fabulous. Des the owner makes a fantastic host and makes you extremely welcomed. We asked many questions and found Des to be very knowledgable and helpful.

We stayed at the Coach House for one night and had a very good time. Des is extremely personable and took very good care of us.
The room was lovely, the bathroom extremely clean and the view was above any expectations; we overlooked the country side and saw rabbits & foxes playing in the fields!
The place is perfect to explore Waterford and drive to the Coast.
All in all, a very highly recommended place!!!

Visited while doing the greenway. Food, staff and surroundings were fabulous. The customer service was exemplary. Only drawback was the toilets, they are outside and there is only one ladies an one gents and there was a queue outside in the cold. Highly recommend for food and customer service but toilets need to be sorted.

Only stayed one night but was hugely impressed with this lovely B&B. Lovely rooms and grounds. Certainly worth looking around the garden and ruins.
There is a comfortable lounge area to relax and socialise if you wish.
A very good and hearty breakfast was also served.
Des was an excellent host and we appreciated his advice on local restaurants and his personable manner.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Coach House and will certainly stay there again should I be fortunate to return to Ireland.

At most an hour and that is only if you take a lot of pictures. Just walking around exploring, maybe 30 min.
I don't know the answer to the question because I hired a car when I was there. However I suggest that you email Das, the owner of the B&B, about this. He is really nice and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay at the Coach House.
I haven' tried it. But it's only about 15 minutes' drive out of town, so you should have no trouble either ordering a taxi to pick you up or finding one to take you back in the evening!
