We were booked to go in July, 2 nights with Secret Escapes. We've been looking forward to this for months. Just had an email from Secret Escapes to say that due to Covid the Hotel has not been able to open in time for our visit. Surprisingly we have been online and are able to book rooms prior to and after our dates. My husband rang the Hotel to be told that they are not taking midweek bookings - we are booked in Sunday and Monday and are able to book in Tuesday night online!! They told us they cannot move dates on Secret Escapes. It would seem that the contract we had with them was worth nothing and they are more interested now in taking bookings at inflated prices rather than honouring contracts and bookings already made. It's such a shame because we have stayed at the Hotel before and had a lovely time which was why we booked again -won't go back there now!

My friends and I have just spent two nights here on a deal that included a three course meal And bottle of wine per room each night .The hotel is in a lovely countryside setting and the staff are extremely helpful. When we checked in Alison on the front desk was really helpful and just sorted out a slight issue without any problem. The food for the evening meals was fabulous and we all enjoyed the wine ! The breakfast was just as good but we did have to wait for things to be topped up for a while sometimes, but well worth the wait . The pancake machine was the best bit for me . The rooms are at the back of the grand looking facade and are fine , they are not huge and ours did have some quite large cobwebs in places but these were easily forgotten with how good everything else was. The leisure facilities were also extremely good We all hope to come back if another deal ever comes up !

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a conference event. My room was on a lower floor overlooking the car park (which is a fair walk from reception) but the bed was comfortable and the room was well appointed. The shower was very good and the towels white and fluffy. We ate as part of the conference and to be honest I didn't much like the food offered - mostly vegan and very bland. I didn't like *anything* on the 2 choice per course menu (might be the conference organiser's fault not the hotel) but managed to order and receive a roast chicken dinner ! I'm not keen on being forced into veganism even though I eat a lot of vegetarian food. Breakfast was ok but disappointing in the range of choice - no mushrooms and a lot of flat depressing looking processed chicken and salami slices. Limited bread choices too. I expect better from a De Vere hotel of this supposed calibre. The service was very poor (understaffed not the quality) and very slow serving coffee etc. Would I recommend the hotel ? Probably not - if I wanted an old country estate type place I would go somewhere with a little more flair and a better breakfast selection and an entrance nearer the car park.

Dear EPD Thank you for taking the time to write your review of De Vere Cranage Estate. I am disappointed to hear that nothing on the menu was to your taste, we usually get such great reviews regarding the tasty food we offer and the variety of seasonal specials. I am sorry about the service in the restaurant, I have shared your feedback reference the busy breakfast and have ensured moving forward that we are fully equipped. Thank you for commenting on the quality of the bedroom, shower and fluffy towels. I hope we have the chance to welcome you back in the future to showcase our usual high standards Kind Regards Richard Morrell General Manager

We just stayed at the hotel for the second time for a leisure break . The food in the restraunt is of a high standard for a reasonable price. The room was spotless, all staff friendly and helpful, leisure facilities were excellent for relaxing, we didn't use the gym due to health reasons but it looked well equipped for a good workout. Definitely would stay again.

Superior rooms are worth the little bit extra. Standard rooms looking a little tired. Very busy with major big events on but loads of little side rooms for privacy. One hassle was late night party by some guests continued loudly til 3am so needed a phonecall to get security to intervene. Brilliant location for rural retreat with great spa and gym, just off motorway.
