The service in the hotel was great and the staff were friendly. We had a two singlebeds room and unfortunately it wasn't very good. There is a poor sound proofing so you can hear everything from the hallway. The room could've been cleaned better before our visit. 😅

I booked one night at Rantakalla for my family's summer vacation pitstop. The choice of hotel was mandated by the fact that we were travelling with a dog, so we needed a room for a family of 2+2 and a pet. Rantakalla had that option, and we were given a room right next to the reception with a double bed and two rollaways. There was not much space for anything else, but as this was a one-night stop, it did not matter. The decoration of the room resembled a 1970's nightclub, but the bathroom was recently renovated. All in all, everything was clean and in functioning order. It was a hot night, and there was no air conditioning, but as there is always a breeze from the sea, and a window with a mosquito net we managed quite well. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, but we found things to eat, and were able to have the breakfast on the terrace with a view to the sea. We checked out the indoor swimming pool - small but appeared very clean, but did not use it. The price was quite high, and there were no amenities for the dog, apart from being allowed.
The reception closed for the night, and there was no late food available, but there are other places to eat nearby. And the view! Being on top of the dune, the view to the sea is just great! The staff was friendly, and made things happen.

The location of the hotel is very nice, located right next to the beach and the woods in the back. I was there for a business trip in April, so the feeling was kind of a loneliness. The whole area seems to be made for tourists and I guess in summer this must be a nice place.

The hotel has two separate buildings next to the main building. We were in building A. Looks like some (or a lot) of rooms are permanently rented or maybe even owned privately. In both buildings, A and B, all rooms have full beach view, there are no rooms going to the back of the building.
The apartment we had was very clean, with two bed rooms a living room/kitchen combination, a bath room with sauna and a separate toilet. On the balcony we even had a small electric grill. Unfortunately it was too cold for a BBQ.

The service was just lousy. At the check-in we got an apartment, despite reserving two single rooms. The same person could barely understand us and whenever I was in the lobby to get something to drink this person behaved like seeing me for the first time in his life. But anyway, I got my beet, so the result was excellent :)
As we're there for business internet access was very important. Internet was available, as stated on the web site, but unfortunately only in the lobby, not in the rooms in building A. The guy said something about a cable connection, but I couldn't find any. The speed of the internet was excellent, so working and voice chating was very good.
When talking about service, the lady at the check-out was very nice and friendly and she made us both smile with her nice nature.

The breakfast was bad. At the first day we had bacon, sausage and eggs. On the second day there was only sauce and eggs and on the third day only sausage was left. Beside the warm food there was also ham and salami. Unfortunately the salami looked dryer and dryer every day, as nobody changed or ate it.
They also had coffee, tea and juice. On one day the milk for the coffee was bad and also the orange juice was water-only.
Don't misunderstand me, the taste and selection of the food was alright, it were just some things which made the whole breakfast not as pleasant as it could have been.

I’ve travelled around and seen some pretty horrible places to stay in. To my surprise the worst experience ever was in Finland at this place.

We rented a cottage which was semi-ok, but still quite crude. The worst part was the bathroom and showers. Words can not describe how dirty they were. Not to mention that many of them were out of use. The showerroom had big windows which were positioned such that you could see a tall persons upper body when showering. And the smell in the shower was disgusting.

Stay out of this place, it’s not worth your money however cheap it is.

View is amazing and the room was quite nice. But the overall service was just average. The breakfast was really bad. A real small variety of choice if you don't come very early.

Stayed there for 5 days, but towels got never changed nor was the room cleaned in any way.

Booked (and got confirmed) 2 single rooms but got one appartement to share. Was ok because we are friends anyway. Though it is not a good style.

The 3rd floor suite was amazing as well as the view and very good for the price stated for it. As well as having an awesome view, I like the fact that the hotel is a bit further from all the bars. Hanging out in the nice and cozy balcony was relaxing and surprisingly quiet, even though the town and apartments adjacent to us were full of people.

The suite could house 6 people easily and the kitchen and grilling equipment were on point. All the decor was modern and there was plenty of all things needed. Plus you have your own sauna and pool (palju) and a very spacious balcony.

The breakfast is a basic Finnish buffet, but the staff was super-friendly throughout.

This hotel is mainly used as a summer holiday destination by Finnish people.

The location and the view from this hotel is astonishing and is almost worth the whole thing.

We booked a superior room with with terrace and sea view. Room is nice, clean and functional so is the bathroom. It is perhaps not so much business minded.

Im only giving this property 3 star for one main reason; the breakfast! You cannot serve people with such meaningless low quality food.

All types of bread were thrown into baskets sticky and surely not fresh from the day. The warm part of the buffet as well as cheese slices and meat slices was presented in a very unattractive manner. No soul or heart put into the breakfast. I lost my appetite before having taken anything into my dish and ended up eating 2 small slices of watermelon on the first morning. The rest of the mornings we had breakfast at the tankstation or we bought stuff from the supermarket to eat.

Basically it seemed as if they were feeding livestock.

Had the breakfast been just decent then the hotel would have had 4 star easily. You cannot serve that type of food and in that manner in 2016!

For the rest then all staff was really nice and efficient.

Overall a good experience and the view from your room you won't find in many other places..

Rantakalla is located in a fantastic place by the sea. It offers great view from the restaurant to the bothnian sea and Kalajoki beach. The hotel and restaurant are from 1970s but been renovated. There is also Apartments available (Rantakalla Timantti). I would expect a bit more quality. The overall appearance is slightly seedy (see the fotos from the "beach terrace".

This is a seaside hotel with very long sand beaches and dunes. The water temperature is of course like the Mediterranean. All kind of leisure activities are nearby. But this place is not close to any city.

The restaurant was excellent - both breakfast and dinner.
