#1 of 5 B&Bs / Inns in Puente Viesgo
GreenLeaders Bronze level

I was a bit skeptical about this place but it ended up being great. A sweet woman checked us in, made us a big breakfast and basically did everything else around the place. She spoke very little English but with my limited Spanish we got along famously. (She always had a smile on her face.) Cute room with a nice lobby on the second floor. Trendy decor. We think we were the only guests. Super clean and bed was very comfy. Nice shower, weak WiFi. Great location for those interested in visiting the caves in the area. Good value for the money. We recommend this hotel.

Having decided not to stay in Santander after leaving the ferry from Plymouth we booked this hotel. It was in a lovely setting and so very peaceful, very comfortable and so quiet that we overslept the following morning. We didn't sample the breakfast as we are not morning people, just used our own kettle to make coffee in the room. We will certainly stay again when taking the car to Spain,

This small, peaceful and very modern hotel is located at 25 miles from Santander in a charming rural area connected to Santander by highway in scarcely 20 mins. You hear cowbells in the surroundings. Room was very comfortable. Excellent bathroom. There is plenty of parking places around the property. Adequate breakfast for 6 € starting a little late (9 AM). There are restaurants nearby. I can highly recommend it if you are driving.

We were delighted by the very skilful decor, but as we stayed it seemed that aesthetics pushed practicality to one side. Great to have an iron bedstead four poster, but our feet kept knocking the ironwork in the night. Lovely shower, with cobbled walls and floor, but at the expense of scant room for the toilet. Very pleasant staff who helped us with our itinerary, and lots of background information. Average breakfast; I'd have preferred a buffet style rather than table service. This was the only hotel stay out of 7 stops where we couldn't connect an ipad and a laptop via wifi, but it could have been a technical hitch. This is an ideal spot for visiting the nearby Cueva del Castillo paleolithic caves. So the overall mark started at 5 but went down through the stay.

Stayed en route to Santander at end of November. Bit tricky to find even with sat nav but well worth it as situated in very picturesque hamlet. Modern boutique style hotel. Think we were the only guests which was a bit weird so didn't feel like using bar. Couldn't fault cleanliness or attention from staff. Breakfast basic but good especially toasted crossants, fresh orange juice and pieces of fruit, cheese and selection of charcuterie.
